Plot: After the near destruction of the world during the worst nuclear war in the history of man, humankind was nearly wiped from existence. However, a group of young individuals somehow survives the hell and emerge from the rubble unscathed but some scars are those you cannot see. These "gifted" individuals are instantly shunned by the other survivors due to their differences and it is by the barrel of a gun they are thrust into the wilderness. However, the survival of the human race depends on these individuals, for a sinister disease brought about by the nuclear aftermath is infecting the human population....... The fog of the War still hangs thick in the air choking the earth. Helios fights a daily battle with these clouds in his attempt to warm the Earth and fuel life, refusing to accept that the effort may be futile. Buildings stand as mere skeletons of brick, steel, and glass coated in their own dust. The wind blows harsh and cold through the scattered colonies of humanity that have managed to survive the five years of tyranny pitted against tyranny, the clash of armies, and the hell that rained from the sky. Race and social status no longer separate man from man. Everyone is seen as a human united with his fellow man in suffering and sorrow. However, after 3 months of sorrow and survival, mankind is starting to get back on its feet and man has more time for reflection and thought, and suspicion. For not all of the survivors emerged from the rubble unscathed. The genetics of the human being are a complex and variegated into a tapestry of chromosomes and DNA. Genes define who we are and rarely do they change but certain conditions designed by Mother Nature may bring about change. The radiation from the nuclear blasts for example changed a group of individuals within the human population and it was only a matter of time before they were to be discovered and feared for their "gifts". Fear is a common emotion that man should have mastered long ago yet it always manages to get the best of him in the end, and fear drives man to irratioinality. So it comes to pass that this emotion invades the colonies and grips their hearts in icy bondage, and the gifted persons are rounded up and driven away from society into the gray wilderness of death. At the same time, a mysterious illness born of the nuclear explosions begins to ripple through the humans scattered worldwide quickly putting an end to the frail bodies of mankind. Death is gathering his harvest and only the "gifted" humans are spared from this mallady. Mada sang softly to herself as she walked through the ruins of an old city. she hadjust helped a little boy find his big sister and was in a really good mood. they had been separated in the night when hiding from some bandits over a week ago and the boy had been near collapse when she found him. the looks on their faces when they finally were able to hold each other again, there was nothing better in her world than this. she loved helping people, loved it more than sunshine or flowers or anything else on her list of favorite things. "Today is definatly a good day!" she announced happily, mostly to herself since for all she knew she was alone

Flashlight on, flashlight off. Flashlight on, flashlight off. Click, click. Click, click. Pupils contract, pupils dilate. Pupils contract, pupils dilate. Charlie couldn't help but look at the flashlight, it was light in a tube, but that was probably the point of a flashlight. The week had been pretty easy going, nothing scary, nothing bad, no illusions to create. All in all a good day. No people, no animals, nothing but dust, a good bunch of food to scavenge. "Today is definitely a good day!Charlie froze, flashlight quickly being pulled to her chest. what? A person?! Already?! Well Charlie supposed he was nearing a small village or a town even, but to come across a person? No, the skeletal towers didn't seem to be inhabited! Another person?! The teen backed away before ducking behind a rather large piece of rubble, waiting silently, face going blank as she listened. Who was walking? Who was coming near? Sure it probably made Charlie look like an enemy but hiding, but it was really for his own protection. He wasn't exactly a social butterfly.

Mada looked around for a place to spend the night, it was mid afternoon but this place looked like it was the best possible place for shelter. sometimes it was hard to find a good place to bunker down. she looked around and cocked her head to the side as she though she sensed someone. "hello? is there someone there? i promise i'm of no danger to you, so please don't be afraid. look, i'm unarmed." she held up her hands and twirled, showing that she really didn't have a weapon. she didn't count her bow as one, since she wasn't sure she was actually able to kill with it.

Charlie curled up a bit more when the other called. Was she looking for her? Charlie didn't want to be revealed, not so soon! He glanced over the rubble, looking at the shockingly pink haired girl. He stood up, flashlight being placed in the bag at his side before speaking. "Who... Who're you?" The voice was hard to discern as was the figure. Curved yet seemingly flat, face round with a shadow of masculinity features, and voice with a hard edge but floated easily in the air. True, that girl didn't look like much of a threat, especially when she still wore bows in her hair, in pink hair. How had she survived when when was such an obvious target? She could have been dangerous, maybe she carried poisons or something.

Mada smiled when the person spoke and turned towards him, her? it didn't matter which, "hello there. My name's Mada, and i'm a traveling priestess. nice to meet you." she gave a little wave and smiles widely, "i really am no threat to you. i'm sure you've heard something like that before, but i'm not able to hurt people. really and truely, it goes against everything within me." he shook her head and showed how serious she was, "may i ask your name?"

Even with that sort of voice, Mada truly wasn't threatening. "It's nice to meet you to." he said gently, blinking at the girl before looking her up and down. She seemed nice, and definitely not a threat. She couldn't hurt people? An odd person indeed, pacifists were rare in this day and age. "My name?" She asked. "Charlie, Charlie McCallahan." the teen said, walking forward and holding out her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mada."

Mada accepted the other's hand and gently shook it, "thank you for trusting me, Charlie. are you hungry? i was thinking of setting camp and making a stew. would you like that?" she put down her pack and looked around, "Hmmm, this is a little open for a fire. is there somewhere you can think of that would be a little more covered?"

Charlie nodded, releasing Mada's hand and placing it on his small bag. If anything it was a fanny pack on his side. "Well there is a building a few minute's walk back down that way." He said, turning slightly to point. "From what I can tell it's dry inside, but there's no vegetation inside of it. It was a store at one point, so there are still plenty of clothes to burn." And looked back at her. True he was a little hungry, but was it safe to build a fire in such an enclosed area? what of smoke inhalation? Was she all right with that?

Mada thought for a moment and nodded, "that will do, let's go." she smiled and head the direction Charlie had pointed, humming as she walked. when they reached the store she looked around and nodded, "see that alcove there? we'll build the fire there. and then we can spend the night in the store, if that is ok with you." she walked to the store and looked at the clothign inside. none of them suited her tastes and she looked at Charlie, "if you need new clothes then now is the time." he smiled and gathered some of the wooden displays to burn before heading to the alcove and putting them down. a few kicks had them broken to usable peices and she got out a set of fire starting stones and used them to get the wood burning. all the while she was happily humming as she worked.

Charlie hadn't actually seen the alcove, but she nodded. "that sounds reasonable." But Mada mentioned his clothes, were his clothes bad? "I found these clothes in the last town." he murmured, entering the store and looking around, picking through discarded and unwanted pieces. There wasn't much of her style, so Charlie wasn't going to grab anything. Instead he walked out again, pulling out a can of beans. "this is all I can offer toward our meal, Mada." He explained softly, sitting down across from her.

Mada smiled and took the can of beans, "thank you very much, but if this is all you have then there is nothing to worry about." she pulled out her pouch and took several seeds from it. she hummed as she put them in a large patch of dirt and then moved to put water from her canteen into a pot which she hung over the fire. by the time she turned back to the patch of dirt, every seed had sprouted to a full grown plant. "see?" she smiled as she picked the veggies and then cut them up with a small pearing knife from her pack. she put them in the now boiling water and stirred it before nodding. the left overs of the plants had bloomed and then seeded and she gathered those and put them in her pouch for next time. "there, now all we have to do is let them cook." in her moving back and forth she'd slipped the can back into Charlie's bag without him noticing.

Gray eyes widened as the plants practically sprung up, fully grown, from the ground. How incredible. "Such an amazing ability, Mada." he complimented, moving forward to look at them, not at all feeling the can being put into his bag. "That is truly a wondrous ability, Mada." She said with a smile. "Many people must owe their lives to such an ability."
