It took a little while for Jericho to recover from the insanity that was Christmastival, but when he did, he was back to his somewhat normal regime. Keeping up in physical form was still very important. His performance as of late was less than what he would have liked it to be. One way to help deal with this? WORK OUT MORE.

Showing up to the fitness club room, he peeked around to see if anyone else was around. He did remember that buddy rule thing after all. Being one of the trainers, he had to definitely abide by these. Set an example and all that.

"Anyone around?" he asked. If not, he supposed he could contact Riley to work out with. She was usually up for this and all.

Unlife truly had never been better.

Herryk was at a school that he liked, had a ghoul that he loved, had friends that were close to him. The draugr never had to go far to find a helping hand and despite the threat of hunters looming around each and every corner, Herryk felt relatively safe here. Of course, there were also students that Herryk didn't like at all and would gladly crush with his bare hands, and because of the recent events at the maul (and theater) involving Mac and Titus, Herryk had a little extra frustration that he needed to work out.

... no pun intended.

He found himself at the fitness club room for the first time, and there were a few things that confused him. Different weights and the like, and Herryk honestly had no idea where to begin. When a somewhat recognizable voice called out, Herryk was all too happy to turn around and call out a booming, "Herryk is here!"

Shortly after he had called out, Jericho heard a familiar voice within the area. It was Herryk! The dragon wasn't too familiar with the big undead boy, but he recalled seeing him here and there. Quite frankly, he was somewhat surprised he hadn't seen him around the fitness club room sooner than now.

"Oh hey Herryk!" he greeted while making his way to find where the draugr was. When he did, he waved amiably at the guy.

"Don't suppose you already have a partner to work with do you?" he asked while looking around. It didn't seem like anyone else was here. Of course he could always be wrong.

The instant that his gaze alighted on the dragon, Herryk's face brightened with a huge smile. Herryk really only knew of Jericho and had yet to really interaction with the boil, but given the opportunity now, Herryk wasn't about to turn it down. Friends that you could count on were a precious commodity, and Herryk knew that in befriending the dragon, he'd have someone that he could count on in the future.

"Jericho!" The draugr continued smiling, perking when the other boil posed his question.

"No, Herryk has just arrived." He looked a little ashamed. "It is Herryk's first time in here and ah... Herryk is not completely familiar with all of the equipment yet."

Grinning back to the big undead, Jericho nodded in understanding. People who didn't go to gyms often generally were at a bit of a lost on how to work the equipment. Well, that was a part of the reason why he was here.

"Not a problem! I am one of the club's trainers so I can teach you how to properly use any of the things we have here. They're not too tricky to get a hang of," he explained, "Well then. How about we work together? Gotta stick to the buddy system anyway."

"Was there something you wanted to work on first?" he asked while beginning to do some quick and light stretches.

"Hmmm," Herryk made a thoughtful noise, idly rubbing the cleft in his chin with his index finger. He peered around for a long while before turning his gaze back to Jericho. Dark brows lifted in sync with wide shoulders. Herryk looked absolutely lost before lifting his arms and offering a flex. His muscles moved and shifted beneath his dark skin.

"Herryk's arms and chest, perhaps?" He really didn't know. Maybe if they tired of arms and chest they could move on to legs?

"Since Jericho is a trainer, what does Jericho suggest?" The dragon did have an impressive bunch of muscles, though built leaner than Herryk, and so Jericho likely had a routine to working on his physique.

"We can definitely start with that. What we begin with doesn't matter too much. What is important is making sure we eventually work all the muscles," Jericho said. Just focusing on one area of the body usually wasn't as effective, especially when just going for general strength and fitness.

"Come on this way," he said while motioning Herryk to follow. He stopped over by some weight machines, the chest presses to be exact. Sitting down at one of them, he showed the other student how to position himself.

"Just grab onto these handles and pull forward. Try to keep your arms parallel to the floor," he explained before getting up to point to where the weights were located, "You can adjust the amount of weight you pull here. Try to find an amount that doesn't strain you too much so you can do it repeatedly.. but not too light either."

Herryk was suddenly feeling quite fortunate that Jericho was there in the room with him. If he hadn't been, Herryk likely would have started pushing and pulling and yanking and bending on various machines, either hurting himself or even breaking the machines in the process.

Once Jericho had positioned himself in the machine, Herryk took a tour around a machine that looked exactly like the one the dragon had seated himself in. Herryk had no idea, exactly, how much he could move. Curiously he set the pin at a hefty amount. It wasn't too hefty and so Herryk seated himself and gave the handles a push. It seemed like it would work well enough, and so Herryk kept up an even, steady rhythm against the handles. "Like this?"

Jericho waited a bit to make sure Herryk got it down before seating himself once again. That was quite a bit of weight he was moving there, but he supposed he shouldn't be surprised. Those muscles couldn't just be for show after all.

"Yep! That's the way."

Reaching back, he set his own weight, which was right around where the draugr had set his, and began to start his reps.

"Generally it's good to do sets of 10-15. Then take a few seconds to rest, then start up again."

Herryk set his weights down gently with a soft clink and rose to his feet, moving towards the back of the machine. He set the pin a few weights higher. His last set had felt comfortable, but perhaps he could work up to more. His endurance sometimes surprised even himself at times. If the weights were too heavy, Herryk did not wish to harm himself and he wasn't stupid enough to push himself too far.

Giving a quick stretch, Herryk sat himself back into the seat and went back to work at the weights. They were a bit heavier and yet not heavy enough to hurt him. He finished up a second set of reps in short enough time before leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees. Clasping his hands, the draugr watched Jericho on the machine.

"Jericho is very wise about these machines," Herryk complimented the dragon with a smile.

Pausing as he saw Herryk get up to increase the weight amount, Jericho took a moment to think before going ahead to raise his bar as well. He still had a good amount in him so he was confident that he could do that without hurting himself.

"Hehe, well I had to make sure I know how to use everything. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to be one of the trainers, you know?" he said while stretching briefly and getting comfortable. Once situated again, he got started with his own set of reps as well.

"Though, out of curiosity, how did you work out before? It's pretty impressive you managed to get that amount of musculature without the use of weights."

Herryk fell silent for a long time, bringing one arm across his chest in a loose stretch. He repeated the action with his other arm, giving his shoulders and chest a brief stretch before settling back in for his third set of reps. The mundane actions gave him a chance to contemplate the question that Jericho had asked.

"In all honesty," Herryk began, speaking in between the movements of his arms, "Herryk has never really... worked out." He cleared his throat and sent Jericho a chagrined smile, one that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Herryk woke up in a town not far from here. Herryk has been told that he is the uh.." Another set of reps filled the awkward silence that Herryk endured as he mustered his thoughts.

"Herryk is a draugr. Undead viking. Herryk can only guess that these muscles were the muscles that Herryk had when alive, but it is difficult to say."

Maybe that made sense, maybe it didn't. Herryk wasn't sure.

At that answer, Jericho blinked and stared at Herryk. Never worked out? Then how the Jack did... Oh. Well that kinda explained it.

"Oh. Huh. Yeah in that case, it probably did come from your former self."

His knowledge on Vikings and Draugrs were a bit limited, but he did know that they were typically strong barbarians. It made sense for a viking, dead or alive, to be buff as all hell.

"Well in that case, just gotta make sure you keep them up!"

Herryk grinned and nodded, watching the dragon closely. He'd been eyeballing the mark that graced the boil's chest and his curiosity was slowly getting the best of him. Herryk was not afraid to ask questions, and if Jericho showed hesitance when answering them, Herryk was not going to push.

It might be personal or something, who knew. Herryk didn't, and so he decided that now was as good a time as any to find out.

"What is this mark that Jericho bears across his chest?" Herryk finished his last set and rose to his feet, doing a few stretches to ease the comfortable burn that arched through his muscles.

"Hm?" Jericho started while looking up towards Herryk, not quite expecting a question like that. It didn't bother him, it just wasn't something he often thought of.

"Oh. It's Riley's mark," he explained. The dragon was fairly proud to have it so there was no shame in saying what it was. He didn't say anything else, figuring the draugr would know what that meant more or less.
