Super Sailor Pasiphae, Senshi of Shame, stepped behind the now closed bookstore not too far from her house. No one really paid attention to the area anymore, not since its closing, and it had turned into the perfect place for her to relax somewhat and power down before going home after a patrol. As long as she was mindful of who was walking down the street, of course. Today, however, she was in a hurry and not quite as careful as she normally would have been. She had promised to be home at 7:00 sharp to have dinner with her parents and celebrate one of her last days of being off of school with a family game night. It was already 6:50, and if she was lucky she could make the ten minute walk a bit quicker than normal and have time to settle
It was Penelope Seneca that picked up her purse from where she had stashed it, beside the door leading to the back entrance of the store, and set off towards home. To the girl's credit, she did wait until the street she had to join was mostly clear before walking down it. As far as she knew, she was completely unobserved and unseen.

Somewhere in the last few minutes of her patrol, the senshi had acquired a shadow, a small blur of orange darting unobtrusively from building to building, some distance behind her but slowly gaining ground. Tomlin made a habit of keeping a quiet eye on lone senshi, just in case, but this one caught his attention more than most. It was one of the Jovians, he was certain. She was definitely familiar, if more powerful than he was expecting, which could only be a good thing. He didn’t have to worry so much about an experienced senshi patrolling without back-up (though the worry could never be completely quashed.) But still he followed – he wanted to check in with her, get to know her. They needed to talk.
Pasiphae, he remembered, seeing her uniform more clearly as she paused by the old shop. But before he could voice the name, the power had winked out, leaving only a civilian girl hurrying out and away from him. A little mewl of annoyance escaped him, and he set out again to catch up, a furry ginger tail that padded behind her. To those not looking too closely, they might almost have thought him on a leash, he kept such an even distance between them - near enough not to lose her, but not so close as to be a tripping hazard – getting stepped on was never fun.

The girl rushing home heard the mewl and instinctively looked for the source of the sound, but so anxious was she to make it back home that she barely took in a glimpse of the cat close to her feet. It did not appear to be in distress during her quick look, so it immediately sank to the back of her mind as she dashed up to the door of her home.
"Penelope, you're late!" Her mother called as she the kitchen, carrying a tray of porkchops carefully into the dining room. Minotaur was close at her feet, his little stub of a tail wriggling as if to plead for just a crumb, a tiny morsel of the delicious food in her hands. (Though he was too good a dog to actually jump on her legs and try to make her drop the food). "Go upstairs and wash your hands. Everything'll be on the table in just a second."
"Yes, of course. I'll be right there," Penelope gasped out, hanging her purse on the peg. She was so frazzled by the rush and the instant conversation that Penelope did not realize she left the front door open just a crack. Normally she would've been more careful, but she was trying so hard... to get to that normal, family night that she craved. The door was open a crack, enough to allow entry to an animal determined to get in.

Tomlin bowed his head when the girl turned around, attempting to hide his forehead and look like a normal stray cat, but it seemed he needn't have bothered. He got only the most cursory of glances before his target was off again, and as soon as she turned her back he skittered along to keep up. He was scarcely a few steps behind when the door swung closed before his nose. And that was that, he thought, gazing up at the faraway doorknob. He should have known it wouldn't be that easy. On the bright side, now he knew where the place was, he could stake it out for when she came back.
He sat on the doorstep, tail twitching as he considered the best way to proceed. The place smelled a little of food, but mostly of dog. In fact, the smells were quite strong, wafting out... of the not-quite-closed door... hey, it was going to be that easy! Within moments, a pink kitty nose was pressed against the careless crack, and once he had established the coast was relatively clear, a soft kitty paw curled its way around the edge of the door. With a headbutt and some serious wiggling, he managed to force entrance into the senshi's house.
Safely inside, the orange guardian crouched ninja-like near the door, trying to gauge if his break-in had been observed, and hopefully spot the girl again.

Anyone who saw Minotaur at the dog park knew that loved other dogs. He loved to play, he loved to sniff, he loved to lick. What many might not have known--other than a certain gray Guardian Cat named ********* that the English Bulldog felt exactly the same way about cats. He had heard the door open, even if the busy humans hadn't, and he tilted his head to see who would come inside. All of his people were home, so it had to be a visitor. When the tawny cat slipped in, the dog's stumpy tail began to wiggle excitedly and he immediately approached with a happy huff. New friends were awesome! Timothy was transporting a steaming plates of potatoes to the dining room table, so he was the one to spy the door slightly ajar. He frowned slightly. Hadn't Penelope closed it? And what was Minotaur doing so close? Well, he'd have to take care of it when his hands weren't full of food. "Penelope? When you come down, shut the door honey, beore Minotaur finds a way to get out." "Sure, Daddy. I'll get to it right away!" The girl called from the upstairs bathroom, frantically drying her hands. Hadn't she shut the door? She thought that she had... but obviously not! Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Tomlin froze at the huffy wave of dog-breath that came his way before he’d so much as moved a paw’s width from the doorway. He’d been noticed. The guardian arched his back, pulling close against the wall, sideways and on tiptoes. He didn’t have a problem with dogs as such, but this one was large and looming and making noises, and short of squeezing back out the door, he was short on escape plans. On the plus side, it wasn’t actually growling yet. Lashing tail meant happy for dogs, didn’t it? Silly backwards dogs. He didn’t really want to pick a fight here, not when he could hear human voices just rooms away. He just needed to convince it that he wasn’t a chew-toy. "Easy, big guy," he whispered cautiously to the bulldog, "I’m just visiting-" A footfall somewhere beyond the dog warned him, and he shut his mouth with a snap as a man entered the room, holding his breath and hoping he hadn’t been heard. That was cutting it too fine. The bulk of the dog seemed to shield him from view, but that was all the luck he was likely to get in one day. As soon as the human turned his back, Tomlin bolted for the stairs. Somewhere up there was bound to have a safe space he could hole up in until he had an opportunity to catch the senshi alone. Hopefully a high one, out of reach of enthusiastic dogs. Quicksilver the Archangel I am truly sorry to have let this lie for so long. If you're no longer interested in continuing, just say the word.

LokisRose No worries, dear! Real life concerns always come before Gaia. We can take as long as we need. :3 I would like to talk with you about the new Guardian Cat I won that I'm tying to the Jovian Court so we can work out her and Tomlin's relationship. I'm hoping they'll be besties! "Tomlin?" Penelope whispered the name lest her parents hear from downstairs. What was the Guardian Cat doing here, in her house? Was there some kind of emergency?! She called down to her parents first, "Daddy, I just remembered I need to... change my shirt. It's got a real bad stain on it and I want to put it straight into the washer. Could you get the door for me?" With that. she reached down to scoop the feline into her arms and rushed off to her room. They would be able to talk in there! "Sure thing honey--but try and be quick. We don't want the food getting cold!" The kitty... could talk like a person? The Bulldog tilted his head in confusion, but he did not get any form of upset until his new friend dashed up the stairs. Why, they hadn't even had a chance to play! Minotaur moved after him but he was not built for climbing. When he arrived at the top of the stairs he was panting and wheezing, but that did little to dampen his enthusiasm. He saw his favorite human hurrying off and trotted after as fast as his stubby legs would carry him. He didn't want to be left alone without having more play time with the nice kitty!

Apparently his luck was going to hold after all. Not only did he reach the top of the stairs without comment from the people below, but the objective of his search was waiting for him at the top. He skittered to a halt at the senshi’s feet, rubbing cheek and tail against her legs. “Hey.” He greeted quietly, not missing her worried look. He glanced back to where the other voices were coming from. “Is now a bad time?” He didn’t get an immediate response, but in the pause he could hear the whuffling sound of the Bulldog, still negotiating the stairs. He had to admire its persistence. Being picked up was not his favourite thing, and as usual, it took him by surprise when the senshi lifted him, but it was slightly further up the list than dog drool. He had been hoping for a high place to hide, so he accepted the rescue with as much grace as he could muster, claws only unsheathing for a moment while he made sure civilian-Pasiphae wasn’t about to drop him. He had a good view of the heavy-breathing dog as it topped the stairs like a marathon runner and continued barrelling after them along the corridor. “That thing’s not a meat-eater, is it?” he joked, though from his vantage point in Pasiphae’s arms, he was more concerned about the animal’s health than its chances of hurting him. “Is it okay wheezing like that?” Quicksilver the Archangel

Penelope could feel the claws and immediately apologized as she carried the Guardian Cat carefully down the hall. “I’m sorry! I should’ve asked before I picked you up… I just wanted to make sure we got to my room before my parents see you. They… well you know, they don’t know anything about my Senshi life.” At the question about her dog, however, she relaxed a little and laughed, “Oh, Minotaur wouldn’t hurt you - he just really wants to play,” Penelope gushed out, looking back to her tired pooch and eyeing him. He could likely use some water, but she had a bowl she kept in her bathroom from which he could drink. She reassured both herself and the Guardian Cat about the state of his condition when she added, “He’s a little overexcited, but he should be okay. Now… what brings you by today?” That sounded a little rude. With a flush, she amended her statement and stuttered, “Not… not that I’m not happy to see you! I am happy to see you, I’m glad you came, I was just wondering if something was wrong?” Minotaur watched kitty friend and Penelope head into the bedroom and followed. However, he continued on into the connected bathroom in order to lap at some water. They would both still be there, right? Yes, they had to be! They wouldn’t leave just because he was thirsty.
