The male decorated with tribal markings reclined on his haunches, listening to the sound of the leaves in the wind. Watching the way that they danced, making mottled patterns of sunlight and shadow on everything below them. Indeed, his mood was contemplative. He was not particularly inclined to seek company this day, though he was not precisely going out of his way to avoid it. He simply wanted to bask in the quiet.
Despite all the time that had passed, despite the fact that he was a pup no longer, the way that others looked at him had not changed so much as he would have liked. Some still stared at him or avoided him like he was something unnatural for the uncanny wisdom he had possessed even as a pup. The way his eyes seemed to pierce one's very soul.
However, all was not lost. He had made a few friends. There were some who still cared about him and accepted him, regardless of their inability to properly understand him. Certainly, most of them were family, in one convoluted way or another, but that was besides the point. What did it matter, so long as he had a few, close friends?
Of course, that was just it. He loved his family, and they were as close as they could be, but none of them really knew him. None truly understood him. Not like they understood each other. Didn't he deserve someone who could see into his soul like he could see into others? Someone who looked beyond the surface and saw the kindness and empathy underneath? Someone who was not his blood, who cared about him because of who he was, not who his parents were? Surely even he, unusual though he may be, deserved that, didn't he?

She was wandering yet again. Always, it seemed. Like her mother, and her grandmother before her. The gold female with glowing eyes, is what she was known as. She was seeking the next big story; one that would far surpass anything her mother ever told her. Only she wanted to live it. Unlike her family, Dixie wanted her life to be one huge adventure. Her birth certainly was. Her mother's gay friend was her father, and she was special because of it. She had her twin brother and another sister, and yet she was just so different from them. Somehow, though, she was just like them. Laughing to herself as she weaved in and out of the trees, leaves caught her eyes. Leaves dancing on the wend. Oh, if they could talk! Where would they be from? Pup like instincts kicked in and she jumped for the leaves, snapping at them with her teeth, swiping with her claws. "Come back!" A gust picked them up and made them soar high into the air. Following them, she ran right into pack territory. She didn't know this, though, and probably wouldn't care if she did. She knew the directions to avoid the packs that would kill her for going anywhere near them. Her grandmother had taught her those directions and drilled them into her head since she was a puppy. Then her mother did it all over again before she took to wandering herself. "Come back here, leaves!" She wasn't paying any attention in her play, to who was around her until it was too late. She hit a warm body and yelped as she went down onto it. Groaning when she flipped over on her back, she stared up at the sky and sighed. "Gone again..." A frown appeared on her face as she rolled to her paws and stretched out, not even remembering she had hit someone until her leg suddenly throbbed in pain. Wincing, she looked around and saw the male she had barreled right into. "Are you alright? I didn't hurt you?" She wanted to move closer, but every individual in packs, or anywhere, would react differently to this situation. Who was to say he wouldn't attack her?

The male's musings were interrupted by a new scent on the wind. And what an interesting scent it was, too. Fresh and vital, like green, growing things, yet warm and sweet. Who was this wolf? His ears perked up at the sound of her voice and he could not help but to smile inwardly. She was chasing leaves? Wait. If she kept up that course...
But it was too late. He grunted softly as she barreled into him, toppling over his side and landing before him...and she was asking if he was hurt?
"I could ask you the same question," he said. He stood to greet her properly. Though he was not a small wolf, neither was he a giant. Merely a respectable size for a male. His golden eyes looked down a couple of inches into the glowing eyes of this stranger.
"Are you alright? That was a bit of a tumble."

When he rose up, she blinked and let her brows knit. OK, he was bigger than most of the males she'd come across along her travels. Arching a brow she shrugged and looked down to her leg. "Well... I hurt my leg, but it's not broken. I think I just bruised it." She gave him a grin and sighed, looking him over. "I didn't mean to barrel into you. I was... Doing something very childish.. and I wasn't paying much attention. Sorry.."
She shifted again, circling him to make sure he wasn't bleeding anywhere and sighed when there was no visible blood. "Where am I?" Those glowing eyes of hers looked around and her nose seemed to be working over time. So she'd stumbled into a pack, but which one? It wasn't one of the ones her mother told her to avoid, else this male would have kicked her butt by now. Now she was just curious as to where.

"This is YMCA territory," he said absently, frowning at her slight limp. "And there was no harm done, to me at least. Would you mind if I take a look at that?" he indicated her leg.
He really did not mind her so-called childish actions. It was, in fact, rather refreshing. An odd sentiment coming from one who never took the time to play as a pup. No, it was the fact that she was injured, however slight it may be, that was bothering him.
He did not like that it had happened here, nor tat he shared some of the blame, not moving quickly enough to get out of her way, but mostly, he simply did not like to see others injured. Especially when there was something he could do about it.

She looked down to her leg when he asked and shrugged. "It's nothing bad, but if you need too I won't stop you?" A brow quirked as she said that and sat back on her haunches, holding out the leg that was making her limp. There was no visible sign of injury, which is why she said it was bruised. She was walking on it, so there definitely was no break. "I've had worse than this while I walk around, though..."
It sort of ran in her family for females to be careless, but tough. "YMCA? I've never heard of that. What kind of pack is it? I'm Dixie, by the way.. Who are you?" This male would be asked a lot of questions if he kept indulging her in answers.

This female certainly spoke a lot, but he was not too bothered by it, as he came closer and gently nosed the injury. She was right. From what he could tell, it was nothing serious. Still...
He began nosing around in the brush while he answered her questions.
"You May Come, Always," he said. "This is a pack for strays. People who have nowhere else to go. We do not force anyone to remain, and many only stay here for a while, but while they do, they are expected to do what they can for the pack, and not to cause trouble."
He glanced up, his golden eyes kind, "I am Rhys. It is a pleasure to meet you, even under such unusual circumstances."
Aha! He found what he had been searching for and returned to her with a couple of small leaves. "Here," he said, placing them before her. "If you eat them, they will help with the pain and swelling."
