This is a perfect training grounds for those who wish to learn ninjutsu and genjutsu. There is a large lake in the center of the forest to practice walking on water. The other part of the forest has large trees which are perfect for the Tree Climbing Technique. In another part of the forest are small streams leading to the lake in the center. These streams can be used to relax the body and mind to focus on genjutsu training.
The forest has so much chakra built into its trees and soil that whenever a part of the forest is damaged it will be repair itself quickly in a matter of hours. A legend explains of a warrior who was known as the Woodland Sage because of his power with the Wood Style techniques. A war that took place before Kumogakure was established had destroyed almost all of the vegetation in the area, and that's when the Woodland Sage used his ultimate Wood Style technique to replenish the Hidden Cloud with newer and stronger vegetation. Before his death it has been said he released his chakra into these parts of Kumogakure.
Despite these forests not being shrouded in clouds, the perimeter of the forests is covered in thick fog and clouds due to the numerous mountains that divide these forests and the village beside it.
