Acubens had the foresight to bring a shawl on her wintry patrols now. It wasn’t much defense against the cold, but it was easier to shuck off and much more manageable than a coat would have been. And any coverage was coverage for Acubens. Though she didn’t have the skimpiest of the fuku’s – Polaris won that competition – there was still much to be desired in the way of modesty, number one being her bare shoulders and arms. Even the metal bracers were no help, the steel cooling off and refusing to respond to body heat at times.
Just like these times.
No matter how many times Acubens rubbed the metal bracers, they refused to warm up. This was stupid. Winter was stupid. Being a senshi was stupid. All it seemed to mean was beating up bad guy in skimpy outfits. Some higher power was clearly trying to sexualize young girls and boys. That was Acubens’ official judgment for the day. Of course, it wasn’t her only reason for thinking the White Moon Court was flawed.
Turning the corner Acubens recalled another reason. The child clad in typical Sailor Scout dress stood little more than four feet from the ground. Just a baby by all accounts. If Acubens could say one thing about the Chaos, it was this. They did not enlist children in their fight, at the very least.
As Acubens approached the red haired child, she slipped her shawl from her shoulder and rested it gently across the little shoulders.
“It’s awfully cold to be out here without a coat on little one,” she cooed, dropping to her knees so as not to scare the child.

Lenka was listening. Listening and waiting. She had sensed a chaotic aura around here, and was waiting for it to show itself once again. It seemed to be waiting for her as well, though seemed perhaps wary of her power, but at least it was interested.
It was a youma that looked much like a rat, and it was super ugly. The Chibi senshi had her watermelon rind and had been almost ready to make her move, when a…something flopped onto her shoulders. She jumped and flailed a little, letting out a surprised little yell.
Someone had snuck up on her! Her first thought was to face the person and attack, but that would mean turning her back to the youma..though if the person had been one of those awful bad guys…
She looked at the now kneeling senshi and frowned. “Oh. You’re not a bad guy at all. Don’t sneak up on people like that, it’s rude.” She gave a little sniffle, wiping at her nose. She was still getting over that cold from the other day, and she did have a jacket with her…it was just in her bag which was stashed under the sliding board, like always. She turned back towards the bushes, frowning.
She had lost the sense of the youma and she let out a sigh, turning back to Acubens and scowling. “Why did you go and do that! Now I lost track of the monster! Also, I’m not a little one, I’m…” She looked the senshi over and shook her head. “I’m stronger than you are, I’m a super senshi, and…you’re not!” She didn’t want to be treated like a child, after all, she was eleven now, so that was almost a teenager! She would be in sixth grade next year, and she was getting so old, her mom said that every day. Right now though, even if she was younger, she had more experience, and she was going to flaunt that fact.

Acubens almost laughed at the child’s remarks. Such a cutie! And out here all alone, all dressed up like a little senshi. Acubens could have died, it was so cute! And she was getting sick. Acubens used her shawl to wipe away the drippings from Lenka’s nose. She nodded as she spoke, making sounds of interest that a mother might make to a child. “You’re right. I shall do my utmost to be more polite from now on.” She ruffled Lenka’s hair and grinned brightly.
At the mention of power, Acubens actually did laugh. “Of course you are sweetie,” she appeased, gently tying her shawl under the girls neck like a cape. “But now it’s time for sleep. It’s way past time for little fighters to be in beddy bye!” She winked at her before gently curling her arms around Lenka’s torso and knees. She lifted the girl with ease, the weight training from Jett paying off. “Your parents must be missing you.”
And then there it was. That bitterly metal taste, like Acubens had just bitten through her tongue. A Youma. That little girl wasn’t kidding. And this one was strong. Maybe too strong for Acubens, who was still new, to fight. And even then, Acubens might just scrape bye but… not with a child in her arms. She would need to find Europa for this one. Or out run it. She tightened her grip on the little girl and pulled her head in under her chin.
“Okay, sweetie,” she muttered, bouncing the girl on her hip. “I’m gonna do a bit of running, so you just hold on tight, alright?”

Lenka felt her annoyance growing as this older senshi began to treat her like a baby. She wasn’t a baby, and she hadn’t been for a long, long time. When she had her nose wiped she just looked boredly at the older senshi then sighed. “Are you being serious?”
The shawl was tied around her neck and she made a terrible face. There was snot on that thing! That was disgusting. Of course she shook her head and tried to pull the thing off, also tried to wiggle off of her lap.
A moment later she felt the youma again, and she grew excited. There it was! Now she could get rid of that awful rat! She once more tried to wiggle out of Acubens’s arms. “Let me go, I don’t want you to run, I’m not a coward. If you have to run, run without me!” She brandished her watermelon rind, then drew in a breath, squeezing her eyes shut. She was about to sneeze…
She turned in Acubens’ direction and sneezed right in her face, hoping that that would make the older girl drop her.

Acubens ignored the girl's protests as she ran. This was no place for a child. Not with a Youma hot on thier tails. She would get this little girl home and toher mother and father, and then she would fight the monster.
And then her face felt wet. What had just happened?
When it registered with Acubens that the little brat had sneezed in erh face, of course Acubens let the child go. What else could she really do when she had just been sneezed on. Who even did that? She squeezed her eyes shut and made a sick sound as she dropped Lenka, wishing desparatley that she had something to wipe her face with. Who sneezed in someone's face like that? No one! No one civilized and mature did that. Acubens's temper flared to life, and as it saw nothing sacred, gender, age, status, it locked it's red eyes on Lenka. If this child was trying to prove her maturity to Acubens, sneezing her her god damned face was not the way to do it.
"Why you little," she began to hiss, hands crooked into claws as she made for the child to give her a peice of her mind. She was, however, cut off when the youma sprung out of a sewer grate not far from the two of them. Acubens cursed. She'd forgotten about that thing with her temper. Now what?
"Alright, fine. You tell me your so powerful, why not show me," she growled at Lenka, bracing herself for attack from the monster. "All my attacks to is run, but it makes for a pretty damned good kick. If you can immobilize that som of a b***h I'd be happy to punt him down to the forty yard line, if you catch my drift."

Good! The sneeze had worked, Lenka was most pleased, mainly because she had been holding it back for quite some time now. The way that it seemed Acubens was reacting to the sneeze however, now that troubled the child.
Aha! The youma! While Acubens was prattling on about how she could kick it, Lenka had summoned her watermelon rind. “Binding Boomarind!” She threw the thing at the enlarged rat, and smiled as it seemed to trap it, the creature squeaking and growling, trying to get out of this…thing that had wrapped around it.
Now, this was normally when Lenka started just kicking the youmas, unable to use any more magic…but this time…she was sure she had practiced enough. She summoned yet another rind and seemed giddy, throwing it at the rat. “Lenka Boomarind!” The thing hit the youma right between the eyes, and Lenka was amazed by her own aim. That didn’t happen very often. But, it did seem like the hit was more than enough to cause the youma to turn to dust. Wow…that must have been one of the easiest victories that she had, so that was very good.
She turned back to Acubens and gave a little sigh. “You know, anger leads to the Dark Side, and that’s not good. You should be calm when you enter a fight. Like a Jedi. That’s how you get your real strength.”

As the Youma, clearly strong from what Acubens was feeling, turned to dust before her eyes, Acubens felt her mouth dropping wide open. But... Lenka was only a little over half her age. And half her size. She honestly hadn't believed that she was that much more powerful than Acubens.
As she looked from the place where the Youma had been and where the girl now stood Acubens could only summon one thing to her mind. It poured from her lips, not minding the child's ears.
"Holy s**t, dude."
It was the part about Jedi, however, that pulled Acubens from her shock. "Wait... what?" It took the words a moment to permiate her state of foggy realization. When the words finally did hit her, she laughed the first good laugh she'd had in a while. She mussed up Lenka's hair in the same way she would her brothers. It lacked the condescending degree of softness the last time did. Her hands were rougher, her finger dug into her scalp, and she paid no mind to the braids in the girl's hair.
"Alright," Acubens sighed, wiping her eyes. "You have... certainly made your point kid. I got a lot to learn. Maybe you could teach me? I don't have anything to do tomorrow. We could meet up at my place and chat over some food or something."

“That would work…meet me at the park.” She was pleased. Very, very pleased. She had proven herself to this older senshi, and might have really made a good friend. That was always a good thing. She needed more friends.
“You’ll be my padawan from now on, and I’ll be dressed in Jedi robes, with a lightsaber. You should go up to me, and kneel and address me as ‘Master Watta Mell’on.’ That way nobody will understand, but you’ll know it’s me. If I don’t respond with ‘Hello Padawan Curly’, then you’ll know you have the wrong kid in the park.”
She grinned. “I’ll see you then. Two o’clock, sharp! Don’t be late, okay? I have to run now! Bye!” She took off then, half running, half skipping down the street.
