It is a late night, and Silver winds around the copses and thickets like nobody’s business. Gleam and Shimmer stay fast by her side, the wasp content to ride on the pangolin’s scaled back as they walk along towards their eventual destination. They are both quiet; so mercifully, wonderfully quiet. No complaints about the long-winded, turning, tearing route that she takes them through, to avoid catching her fur on something-or-another. No, nothing seems to faze the two of them. And, she supposes, Even if they were ones to complain, they long-since would have stopped complaining. I do suppose I do this with alarming regularity. She stops, as she sees a wall of trees and brambles blocking her way on all four sides. “Oh, how wonderful,” she comments acerbically to the cold night air. Sometimes, just sometimes, there is a way to be found through these stands of brambles, if you only just look from just the right angle. “Glint, Glimmer, if you wouldn’t mind?” She asks her companions. The wasp flies obediently off of the pangolin’s back as it sits up, and watches it’s night-colored companion walk about the circle. The silver-colored doe sits down, inspecting her fur in a moment’s privacy as she lets her two scope out any possible way to continue on from this point.

What they do find, however, is far more interesting indeed.

She stares down at the small sac, all by itself, looking vulnerable as it is, slung between two branches like that. “It’ll never find food in the middle of this mess,” she remarks, almost pityingly, as Glint buzzes inquisitively around the developing foal. She examines the sac, attached as it is to two relatively sturdy-looking trees, all alone in this sheltered little clearing.

A quick look around determines that it had long-since been abandoned - it looks as though it was just left behind, like most kin tend to do. The doe herself couldn't fathom it; leaving one's offspring to the will of the elements, without taking a care to watch after their well-being. And, she supposes, with the weather being so cold and barren, that this little thing will need as much help as it can get. "Okay, you two..." she starts, turning to her steadfast companions. She looks around, until she finds a vine to drag out in front of them. "Find. Fetch," she instructs him, grabbing a branch in her mouth to draw out her plan. Just a sled. I've made them before.

User ImageIn fact the foal is not alone, though no one would be able to tell. Fish Bones, in his foxbun form, had been watching the tiny unhatched Kimeti. Now hidden in the underbrush he watches the silver doe, to see if she'll need assistance moving the baby. Before the doe is done, Fish Bones has a sense of what she intends. Scurrying off he starts to look for the materials.

User ImageSnuggled tightly in his sac, Seashell is vaguely aware of new sounds. Words penetrate his dream, not enough to make him fully aware of them, but enough to bring up flashes of ancient, ancestral memories. The voice comforts him and Seashell relaxes a bit in his slumber. One day soon he'll be out in that world called Matope, and then he'll be able to hear the voice fully and understand what it is saying.

She draws it out. Simple, but strong. vines and branches will attach the tiny sac to a sheaf of strong bark, insulated with mosses and frost-softened leaf litter. A sapling, long and whiplike, will be lashed to one side, and wrapped around, with room enough for her to wiggle into a loop big enough for her to drag it. If she holds it in her mouth, she should be able to guide it... and thankfully, she knows of one way to get back to Echo's burrows without risking mud or water testing the strength or buoyancy of the thing. She watches as her pets bring her back the supplies she needs - everything save one of the saplings. She looks up and around, searching out a thin, straight tree to knock over- one that isn't too close to the sac.

Eventually, she finds one, and lashes out at it with her hooves, until she hears a crack. She wraps her neck around it, pulling it down, and uses her teeth to strip small branches off of it, and to cut it off at a point where it gets too thin to be strong. She drags it back, looking at the materials. It seems bigger than before, for some reason. She doesn't notice the foxbun scurry off in search of more supplies. But even if she did, she wouldn't have time to deal with it. She needs to figure out how she is going to lash the whip-thin tree to the large sheaf of half-petrified bark her familiars have found for her.

She has never done this part alone, and suspects it will involve a lot of walking in circles if she can't suddenly teach Glimmer a new trick.

User ImageWhen Fish Bones returns he is somewhat dismayed to see she has already gathered her materials. At least until he notices the doe looking uncertain. She needs help. he thinks. He debates with himself about what form to use. Though smaller, his foxbun form has agile paws and can move quickly. But he can do almost anything in his stag form, it just takes more patience. And he can communicate. That decides him, Fish Bones pulls back into the bushes and finds an area where he can change and get out easy enough.

User ImageMaking the shift always feels weird his body stretching and contorting to fit a new shape, but it's not unpleasant and Fish Bones has grown used to it. Now in his Kimeti form, Fish Bones steps out onto the path. He approaches Silver and clears his throat. "Need some help?" His voice sounds a little rusty, indicating he hasn't used it much recently.

The doe turns, regarding the stag with an almost disbelieving stare before she suspends her belief long enough to nod. "Well, yes, if you could help me, I'm making a sled. The bark here's good enough to have this, well, tree tied to it, but when it gets bent around I'm going to really need help fastening the other side." She doesn't ask how long he's been watching, or whether he'd been the one to help add the materials. She doesn't like asking redundant questions, really. Legendaries work in mysterious ways... she thinks for a moment, before she starts picking through the materials, looking at the pulpy wood.

Glint can use that later, she thinks to herself with satisfaction, and nods to the stag. "Shall we?"

Nodding Fish Bones looks over the materials again. He's made a sled or two before, but everyone has their own methods. "Just tell me what you need and I'll do my utmost to help."

It takes the two of them a little while to get the sled together, and a bit longer yet to get the sac onto it, but eventually, there it is, the developing foal lashed carefully to the pulling-device, with her pangolin on to make sure things stay secure and the little one doesn't wiggle.

The doe turns to look at the legendary again, with a thankful expression. "Thank you," she says. "My shelter is this way."
