Sailor Virtus was pretty sure he had this well under control. He had a few lessons now, and he was getting more familiar with this whole 'patrol' thing.
He knew that he was supposed to keep himself hidden. He was supposed to collect energy from civilians, and he had to be careful about finding Negaverse soldier among his targets. he'd learned that lesson the first night out! He was pretty sure it wouldn't happen again, though.
So, he just had to pick a target that was not one. Simple enough, right?
Next, he needed to get their energy. Asking was not going to work, and he had this mirror to help him. There was something called a wraith in it, from what he remembered, and it would do the energy stealing for him. Stealing seemed like such a negative word, and it made him hesitate, but not enough to override his obligation.
His Queen had asked him to do this, and he would do as he was told. Always.
So he was crouching in an alley, waiting to see if someone came to him, rather than going to them. Last time, he had walked up to someone and asked if he could have some of their energy. Apparently that was not the correct method, but could he be faulted for trying to be polite?

And yet here was poor old Sailor Ate being as un-polite as she could muster...in the form of her fists....into somebody's face that is. Well that was the plan anyway! She had just met up with Sailor Navi and again the girl had filled her head with confusing thoughts and unknown answers. It wasn't even like they were flirting and playing mind games! Which everyone knew where the best mind games ever!! But nooooo, the Dark Senshi had to drop a knowledge bomb on her and be all righteous and kind and pointing her down the right path! And yes it was working, dam it was working. But she wanted to prove that it wasn't just a cold feet to herself. Like a 7 year itch, you just wanted to try something new...except it hadn't been 7 years but more or less a year since she had been created into a Sailor scout and surely wanting to join another team wasn't right!
So sadly for Sailor Virtus, no matter how many kind words he may use, the Super scout was not going to play fair. She needed to fight someone and it needed to be someone with a human face, someone she could put direct blame on.
Poor Virtus.
Her heart was racing as she travelled down the alleyways and the streets, merging into the shadows while unsuspecting civilians made their way home or got up to party. It was going to be a busy night, it had that buzz in the air and it was electrifying. So to say Ate nearly skipped with joy when she sensed the energy from Virtus was a lie, she bounced. She had now been near Navi enough to lock in on the wave length of a DMC, not as tainted as a Negaverse agent but something that left a bad taste in her mouth. That would have to do. Not the agent she wanted, but to leave a mark on them, well...it sounded appealing.
The sound of her shoes would have hit his ears long before her shadow and finally her form would be noticed by the Dark Senshi but she wasn't in a rush, she took her time. She wanted to see who this person was for they were only the second of his type she would have met. It was a meeting to be cherished...and that alleyway was dark she couldn't spot him if she tried!
"Come out, come out where ever you are! Prime energy t-bone steak right here and waiting! Come and get it!

Sailor Virtus was not the brightest crayon in the tool shed. He was gullible, to say the least, and he was very hopeful that people said what they meant.
So when he saw this sailor senshi, though he had never seen one before and had no idea that this was, indeed, one of the white moon soldiers he was supposed to avoid, he smiled. She was offering her energy, after all, and though it sounded like it might be a trap, he was sure it wasn't.
Her energy felt strange to him, but in a way he hadn't known before. It was strong, like Navi's was. Was she like Navi was now, then?
"I'm right here!" He said hopefully, moving from the shadows and toward her with a bright and warm smile on his face. "That's very nice of you to offer! How did you know I was looking for energy? I'm glad you've made the night a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, though, that's very nice of you!"
He might have been good at bad guy banter and taunting if he didn't actually mean it.

OK now she wasn't expecting that! Yeah a Senshi jumping out all guns blazing into the heat of battle, but this? A pleasant and formal response filled with fine grimmer and poise? It just wasn't right! Who in the right mind would respond in such a manner, so carefree, so nonchalant, so civil.
This guy was one sick ******** mean..." The Scout was slightly dumb founded, she had come across cocky, arrogant agents but never one like this! She had to compose herself slightly which may have given the illusion of fear. Fear of a young boy who may or may not be the devil reincarnate. But she was a professional dammit! She manned up by (ironically) sticking her chest out and raising a gloved hand in pointing gesture, all menace and angry tainting her voice.
"Sorry to disappoint you freak but I am Super Sailor Ate, protector of the innocent and weak and tonight is going to be anything but easy!" She did a terrible fist in palm punch to show she meant business and tensed her muscles. It was creepy when Ate did that because she did have muscles, muscles with veins on them. Yeah she went through phases of working out to ridiculous measures to chilling out for a while so her body rested, it was always changing and shifting (except the fat, never the fat!) And unfortunately for Sailor Virtus there just so happened to be a Derby tournament going on, Venice needed to be strong for it so ergo Ate got to reap the rewards.
"Time to say goodbye to your teeth chaos lover, its time to die!"
Even if she was still very freaked out about by him.

There were some moments in Virtus's life that he found himself at a complete loss. He had to rewind the moment before to figure out just what had happened to get him in the situation he found himself then. This moment was one of those. What just happened?
He stopped, wheels turning as exhausted hamsters pushed themselves to grind against the natural track of his train of thought. He was fairly sure she had offered him energy. Had he been wrong? That wasn't unusual.
He was really bad at recognizing sarcasm. Mostly because he never used it.
She did sound angry now...
"Die? No, no, please, we don't have to take things there. You're one of those White Moon villains. Why do you want to kill us? I just wanted to borrow some of your energy: you would get it back! But it's okay, I'm not disappointed, you don't have to worry about that!"
She had said she was sorry, after all. Even if he now was getting the idea that she didn't mean it. Still, even if she had, in a small way, he wanted to relieve her fear. He smiled and held his ground, hoping they could work things out still. He had no idea that his talking was likely just making things worse for him.
"I can go and ask someone else, honestly, I can understand why you would be afraid."

It seemed funny to hear the word villain and white moon in the same sentence. And she would have happily denied it if she was the perfect shiny role model that the order demanded but she sort of failed big in that department, very big. But this was why she was willing to beat up someone weaker than her, to prove a point! To prove she deserved to be in the order and stand for what what they upheld. And if she needed to taste blood to do that then she would.
"Borrow? So you may not kill your victims like some of the others but your stealing energy that doesn't belong to you to feed a source that could destroy us all! Do you not think I wouldn't stop you! I don't care if they get their energy back twofold, I wont let you do it!"
Ate stopped mid walk, mid breath even as he uttered his last statement. Yeah she was extremely freaked out by him but scared? Scared?...Well yes maybe a little scared but she wasn't about to let him know that! And here he was insulting her on the matter, teasing her, making her look like a joke. Weak.
No one made Sailor Ate look like a joke....more than once.
"What are you? Some sort of horrible secret weapon? Because am telling you right now, your beneath me in the power stakes and I will wipe the floor with you. What makes you believe that you can take me on? Actually what makes you believe I will just let you go and claim another life? No that's it! No more miss-nice-senshi. You are one sick, twisted little ******** that needs to be taken down!"
She launched at him, not caring for a return monologue of his future dastardly deeds. He needed to be eliminated. Even if he was still a kid...she would have to block that part out at least. Her fist came flying through the air, a hornet seeking out its prize of a peachy cheek. And it wasn't going to take no for an answer. If he managed to dodge the left hook was just waiting to slam into his jaw right after.

Oh dear, she seemed angry.
What had he done?
He didn't quite understand what she meant by secret weapon, and he tilted his head in thought as she spoke to him. He had to keep up with what she was saying, but processing each part took a moment because he was getting more and more confused. Take her on what? Claiming lives was certainly not something he had been up to, either.
And she cursed at him. That made him tense a bit. But he continue to smile and tried his damned best to be calm and friendly.
"I'm sorry if I made you think-" nope, no time for an apology there. His head snapped to the side and he felt pain blossom like fire through his cheek and the side of his face. Lights sprang up in front of his eyes and he toppled over. He had no defense to offer her, and was too stunned by the first hit to do much of anything yet.

Ok well that....well that was just easy. A little too easy. Ate may not have been totally sure what this Senshi's game was but she sam well knew it was to mess with her head. As soon as she felt her hand connect she could have jumped with glee. Usually they dodge the first one or two swings expecting them but they always let their guard down. This guy? He just accepted it and was now on the floor.
But that was all part of his sick plan.
"Get up! GET UP!" Her hands was still curled into fists as she shouted at his collapsed form. He was just pretending, wanting her to get riled up! And it was working.
"If you don't get up right now am going to slam my foot into you head! GET UP!" She wasn't one to kick someone while they were down...except for now. She liked clean fights but she had no idea what was in store for her so a swift kick in the stomach might make all the difference. Her knee retracted and slammed into his side, her buckled toes hitting his stomach with such force she thought she saw him slide slightly. This guy, this guy was just asking asking for it!

Virtus wasn't sure when the world had split into two, but he hoped this second Ate wasn't as mean as the first one. They were standing too close for him to distinguish between them, though, and he shook his head slowly.
That just made everything hurt worse, and for a moment it seemed there were three of the senshi.
Maybe he liked it better when there was just one.
When she started shouting he was torn. Getting up would mean trying to figure out where to put his feet, and which way the sky went. He also felt like it would mean getting punched in the face again and that was not something he wanted to have to experience more than once.
It didn't really matter, as she kicked him anyway. He was surprised by the force she could muster, as he had never fought a senshi before. Or anything powered up. Let alone someone so much stronger than him. He did slide, and then rolled away from her, trying to get to his feet. He was in incredible pain now, coughing to catch his breath.
"Wait, wait, hold on! I'm trying to get up, please stop kicking me so I can!" He sounded upset only because he was in pain and he wasn't able to do what she was asking him to do. Mostly because she was preventing it, but he was sure now that if he got to his feet like she asked she wouldn't hit him again. Maybe they could talk.

Upset? Why was this guy sounding upset? It never occurred for a second that Ate was being the cruel one here. The one that was messed up in the head. All she saw was red and this guy mocking her. She held back her foot even if it ached to slam right into his backside at his comment. She was losing her head over this too fast, she needed to compose. She wasn't a thug, she had to distinguish between herself and Chaos and right now she was doing a poor job.
"Com'on then, GET UP, faster you idiot! You think I have all day to wait around for you to grow a pair of balls and hit me back!"
She started to pace, small steps that followed a semi circle around his form as she watched him move. A beast stalking its prey, taunting it. But all she saw was herself preparing for the onslaught that was surely to happen. Her knuckles cracked in anticipation and every muscle screamed at her to get in another hit. To punch him so he would never raise up again.
"I never thought your kind would scoop so low as recruiting a maniac! Sailor Navi, she is so sweet and gentle, but you? Here I thought i was on the wrong team but...dam. You take the cake, you take the whole ******** bakery! Why would I be associated with the Dark Mirror Senshi if all they want are twisted little freaks like you!"
She could feel her power pulsating in her ears, a pounding that rang to be called. All she had to do was shout out her attack and she could bury him alive right her, right now...

Virtus was pretty sure he could not get up. Not right now, and not even in a few minutes. He was trying to, though, because she was asking him to. Well, not asking. Telling. Ordering. But he had to do what he was told, especially when he was so confused by fear and pain. It was his instincts now, even when he knew what he had been told about the White Moon.
And now had learned first hand.
They would attack him, and they would not be kind to him. He could not be kind to them, but what else could he do? He had no idea at the moment, though to be fair there were very few things he did know at the moment. Like where the floor was, that was a mystery, or which way gravity was pulling. Where the weight in his body was centered in all of this. He was not having much luck getting to his feet, mostly just flopping around like a fish out of water.
He looked up when she mentioned Navi.
"Y-you're friends with Navi?" He eeped out, thinking suddenly, with a fiery burst of desperate hope, that they might be able to be friends too. This was all clearly a misunderstanding. "I'm sorry! I didn't realize you were Navi's friend. She's my friend too. We can be friends! Wouldn't you rather?" He got to his knees, looking up at her.

She watched the pathetic excuse for a Senshi rolling around in obvious pain, it only made her want to hit him harder. Why was he doing this? For a crazed loon he was taking this whole mocking thing a little too far. He was acting just that little bit too well. Maybe, just maybe he was....no. It was all apart of his game plan and acting like he was Navi friend was all apart of it too.
"Heh, yeah sure your friends with her. You? I bet your just using her! Yeah...some horrible sick plan you have cooking up to harvest her energy and then...I don't know, mutilate her or something. I don't know what sick ******** like you get off on!"
She stared at him getting to his knees, all hatred and anger burning down at him through her eyes. God she wished she had laser vision sometimes, this would make things so much easier. But now, she had to get her hands really dirty.
"But I won't let you hurt her too! I wont let you hurt anyone ever again! EVER!"
It was no use, Virtus could beg and beg but the mind was made up. She was going to drown the b*****d in garbage. It wouldn't kill him of course, but maybe he would be stuck beneath it to let mother nature finish him off for her. Standing back she swept her hands forward, releasing the pressure building up into words. The magic was at her finger tips now, they lovingly caressed her hands and lower arms. Green twinkling silk growing rapidly stronger as she screamed out her attack. It was beautiful in a way. Until the pollution started to form.
Tin cans, oil tainted water, grime and filth from all around them started shifting, pulling and moving into the giant ball she had in front of her. This was why she loved alleyways. There was never enough pollution for her to seek out, never enough rubbish and slime to gather power from. She couldn't make it rain from the heavens just yet, but she could try and knock the ******** head clean off with a throw. And he had kindly position himself right in front off. How sweet of him
"SAY GOODNIGHT DIRT BAG!!" And she threw the garbage with all of her might.

"Do what? I don't mean to accuse you of being wrong, because I'm sure you have a good reason for thinking what you do, but I'm not planning anything like that! I'm really sorry if someone told you that... or if I somehow made you think that..."
He was breathing heavily, and his words came out very slowly. Being kicked and punched really hurt!
"You are very good at punching, miss," he offered feebly. And he meant it, simply delivering a compliment where it was due. He saw his blood on the floor and wondered what was bleeding. It made him uncomfortable, more so than he was used to feeling. It made him scared.
He didn't like being scared.
Virtus was in a bad situation. He was fairly sure he had never hurt anyone. Ever. Not on purpose. Energy stealing didn't count because it didn't hurt, right? And they always got it back.
It was very nice of her to pick up the garbage around here.
"No, no, wait!" he yelped. He scrambled away from her, trying to find a place to hide. He couldn't attack her. He just couldn't. He felt like he was going to die, but what good would that do? He had to get out of there. "Please, please! Stop! Please! I don't want to fight you anymore! Why are you being so cruel? Please stop I don't understand what I've done wrong!"

DAMMIT! A swing and a miss! The ball of gunk went hurtling down the alley as Virtus moved out of the way, the mass hitting a brick wall scattering the now cleaned alley with pellets of garbage. Ate was fuming and it was clearly seen on her once pretty features as she cursed her throw. It wasn't like she could just snap up another one! The bigger more powerful attack took longer to recreate, if anything it too a lot out of her too. Not that she wanted this monster to catch up on that and she tried to calm her breathing down, wiggle the tingle from her fingers as the power left her again.
It was only then that she heard him.
"Cruel? Am not the one hunting for energy to feed Chaos! Your the cruel one!" But how could he be? He was near shaking in front of right now. Was this....was this right? Weren't the bag guys all powerful all knowing? This guy...well he looked like a kid being beaten up by a bully.
And that bully was her.
"UHH! What is your game psycho! You come out cocky as hell, all guns blazing and then you hide? What game are you playing at? TELL ME!" He hands crunched up in to fists again as she screamed at him to answer her. The dizziness was contagious because Sailor Ate could no longer think straight herself and that was always a bad sign. The pit of her stomach hatched butterflies and bile rose in her mouth as she thought of what she was doing, what she was prepared to do to this snivelling senshi. It couldn't be right, not with him like this. She couldn't kill someone who was begging for their life....could she?
"Just give me an answer boy! Tell me right now that you are a Dark Mirror Senshi. You are in cohorts with the Negaverse and you seek to undermine the work of the order resulting in the harm and death of innocents...tell me...before I do something I regret, like let you go..." and that was the last thing she wanted to do right now.

Virtus shuddered as he curled himself in a ball, waiting for more pain to come. He remembered something vividly, something similar to this. When he had been beaten before, the bullies had not stopped even after he curled to hide. They rained blow after blow down on him until a sound scared them off.
They left him bleeding in the alley.
It had been one of the worst times in his life. He had been weak and hurt and pained. He had gotten his scar that way. Just because he was too nice to notice. He peeked up from under his hands, looking pathetic and helpless.
He was in pain and he couldn't move.
"I... I am a dark mirror senshi... but I'm just... I'm just doing what I'm told... I'm just trying to help." He sniffled, and he believed it. He shuddered and shut his eyes, feeling them stinging in an unfamiliar and loathsome way. He hadn't cried in some time, he refused to do that. He just wanted to be happy, but sometimes it just proved too hard.
"I... I'm sorry if I scared you... I'm sorry if I hurt you..." not that he had gotten in any blows, or even tried. But still. His only defense was to apologize.
