Tony usually brought Dogby to work with him now. Not just for his own sake, but because the patrons liked her and she was now the staple Library Dog. Who didn't want to pet a corgi? Sometimes he felt people were just coming in to say hello to her, but that was just fine by him.
As long as they were dropping by.
She had more energy than usual today, for one reason or another. Maybe because she was not getting as much attention as she wanted. There weren't that many people in today, and Dogby was feeling it. She whined at Tony's feet, headbutting his leg as he typed at his computer.
He had to get up, pitying her, and he took his lunch to take her out on a walk. Maybe some time out on the sidewalks, with other people, would do her some good.
"Let's go for a walk, Dogby," he said, and she yipped as she trotted down the street with him. He set a slow pace, still healing from a wound he had taken to the side. At least when she tugged the leash he didn't get sent flying. She was too small to pull him along.

It was lunchtime! Usually Ainsley stayed at school for lunch but today she had been in such a rush to leave that she'd forgotten to take her nicely packed princess tote with her and instead she had left it on the counter. It was just a crime! Instead of enjoying her lunch, she had to go home to get it. It wasn't too bad, since the elementary still had a rather long lunch break but it meant she couldn't spend the lunch hour with any of her friends.
It made for a tad bit of a gloomy walk, a bit of a slow one at that. Dillydallying is what her teachers called it.

Tony walked slowly and leisurely, looking around and enjoying the day for what it was. A bit of a break, within the normal confines of his day, taking a moment where it was given to just relax and looked around.
He wasn't too good at breaks. Even this didn't count. Just taking a few minutes to slow down and enjoy a walk with his dog was not what his doctor or his girlfriend meant when they told him to take it easy. He probably shouldn't be going to work so soon, but he had far worse injuries before and had missed as little work as possible.
His job was what kept him sane. Normal. It tethered him to the world before and beyond being a knight. Beyond shadows and demons and insanity. It was his life, the one he fought so hard for, just a chance to live these moments without the thought in the back of his mind that at any moment he could be killed by a Nega or a Youma or the planet could be taken over and consumed in Chaos.
It would be nice when that threat was gone, and everyone, not just him, could live their lives.
He noticed Ainsley walking nearby and frowned. Shouldn't she be in school?
"Shouldn't you be in school?" His thoughts weren't filtered, there, his concern escaping before he could stop it.
