User ImageAMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM

Name: Mercedes Kingston
Nicknames: Mercy,
Gender: Female
Age: 16

Faction: Reaper
Race: Sorceress

Natural Ability:
Enchanting: Sorcerers/sorceress's are awful at casting spells. Instead, they excel at being able to put spells into objects. These objects can cast the spell for them: ie, a Sorceress can enchant a fireball spell into a stick. Providing that the stick doesn't catch on fire, the Sorceress now has a wand that can shoot fireballs... Until the spell runs out, that is. In Mercy's case, she is able to use an animating spell on her cardboard/duct tape dolls and make them come to life and attack others, on a good day. She has two spell dolls she uses Male and Female, named after their genders, respectfully.

Personality:
She's a man-eater: Mercy is a bit, well, cynical about the male race. She thinks they are horrible, and not just because her mother was left by her father(something involving the boogeymen or other, really Mercy isn't too sure). This hate stemmed from her very being. She much prefers her own gender, and will treat them much kinder than she would a male thing. However, "it" things she has no problem with. If she were ever to work closely with a male student in the classroom, well lets just say she'd focus more on hurting him than she would trying to even pass the assignment they were put together with. This usually backfires due to her spellwork and she gets more cuts and bruises. Outside of the classroom, she avoids males enitrely. If a ten foot pole can touch them, then they are too close for comfort.

I've put a spell on...: Mercy can sometimes have big problems with her spells. She's not clumsy with her spells, she's just not very good at it. Several spells she's done have set both the stray cat on fire and turning an old tree into a dead flower. She had meant to help the cat and the tree become healthier. This is why all familiars tend to stay away from here, lest they end up growing fur where there should be none. In fact, the only thing she can really successfully put a spell on is her two dolls, and even they have had their scars. Both have been patched up with excess cardboard and various bits of rainbow duct tape that Mercy has found in the human world. She had been given the two once previously paper dolls when she was younger.

Every day I'm shuffling: The only odd thing about Mercy is her feet, they seem to be two sizes too small for her lanky body. She often finds herself tripping over even the smallest of branches and falling, thus she uses even more duct tape to cover the wounds. She figures, if it can work for Male and Female, it can work for her. Yes, she holds duct tape in the highest regards. She has tried putting on bigger shoes and stuffing them with cardboard, but they hurt so much, so she just deals with the tripping and falling as it happens. Better be discomforted for a few minutes instead of all the time.

Yes, that dress does make you look fat: Mercy can also be quite honest, so one should never ask her anything. If she were to talk to anyone she would say what was on her mind, exactly when it was on her mind. Her words are much kinder to females, or course, than they are to males. She has never once thought that the honesty she has is rather wrong, so she is always put off when another student just leaves the conversation. She shrugs it off and continues on her way.

Duct Tape, thy silver throne: Mercy loves duct tape, not only can it come in several different colors, but it covers almost anything she wants it to. She uses it to constantly "repair" her two dolls, which she fondly calls Male and Female. Male gets hurt more often than female and is in much worse a state. She is convinced that duct tape can repair anything, as it has always worked in repairing her various books and furniture. She had been introduced to duct tape when her first doll Female had been ripped. Her mother only had that laying around the house, so that was what was used.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? Mercy has always dreamed of not screwing up her spells, and one day she is sure this will happen. One day she will be able to control her fear and not be considered a clumsy sorceress but a very good sorceress, human world domination may also be involved, she is not for certain.

FEAR Ability: Cardboard Coverup (Offensive: The Mind): Using one of her dolls, Mercy can hopefully make it blind her opponent so it does not know where/when/what Mercy is doing. She says hopefully, because sometimes the cardboard doll loses an arm before getting to the opponents face and can only cover one eye.

Physical Description:Mercy stands average height to a ghoul her age, so around 5'5''. She has a small ghoulish face framed by long bangs, the rest of her hair being in two low ponytails. She wears a simple black choker and a black dress with a few white stripes on it. Her dress is also in verious stages of repair, with rainbow duct tape and cardboard. In fact the bow on the back of her dress is almost entirely made of cardboard. She always seems to get injured, so she covers the cuts with rainbow duct tape. She has a utility belt, with rainbow duct tape and scissors in its pockets, that its held up, along with part of her dress, by rainbow suspenders. She also wears low heel victorian boots. Accompanied with her is Male and Female, her two cardboard dolls. Female has purple cut out hair and a pink cut out dress. Male has a green cut out hoodie. Both have rainbow duct tape on them somewhere.

Eye Colour: Green
Hair Colour/Style: Long curly bubblegum pink hair. She usually has it tied with pink ribbon into two very long pigtails underneath her hat.
Skin Colour: Very pale
Clothing Style/Colours: She wears a black and white slightly off the shoulder dress. The front of the dress lies just above her knees but the back of the dress goes to her ankles. She also wears a pair of rainbow suspendors to hold up the front of her dress to that knee height. She wears low top heels with a victorian style covering that is white. Her dress has been in a state of repair and there are portions of her dress that are covered in rainbow duct tape and bits of cardboard.
Extra: She has abysmally tiny feet for such a tall girl. They look like children's feet compared to her "womanly" figure. She may also have several cuts on her legs and arms, all covered by duct tape. And we musn't forget her two cardboard/duct tape dolls.

Um, one thing I noticed is about why she is at Amityville. I *think* that witches are considered another race, and so a sorceress would not grow into being a witch. It would be kindof like a fire demon trying to progress to being a wrath demon. You may want to double check.

Also, I'm a bit confused on why she was on a trip to the human world in the first place. Did she accompany her parents? Why did they take her to see a movie? If she dislikes it so much why did she name her dolls after the movie characters? I think this could all work, but maybe a bit more info on it would be useful~

As for fraternizing with any male things, will she work with males at all or will she actively avoid them? If she is forced into a situation where she is with a male how will she treat them?

And last but not least, why does she hold duct tape in such high regard?

I really like the reason why her FEAR might not always work~ Sorry if this isn't helpful, I kindof fail at crits XD

^ What ramen said, only in more detail:

Halloween creatures fall in love! And it doesn't even have to involve men. Or even...specific...genders. Halloween involves all sorts of critters, from blob monsters to slugs. (There's even an Other Bathroom to cover all the bases) Also, making babies is a separate process entirely from sex. 2, 3, or 4 people make a special wish on a pumpkin. They can be business associates, or enemies, or 4 top fighters wanting to make an ultimate fighter. Whatever the case, their Fear combines in the pumpkin, and a new creature is created. AS AN EXTRA NOTE: Crossbreeding doesn't occur. For instance, if a Demon and a Ghost put their Fear in a pumpkin, the resulting baby would be EITHER a Demon OR a Ghost. Not a half-Demon, half-Ghost.

Human World: Just take out anything mentioning the human world. As a first year student, your character should never have been to the human world, or know anything remotely accurate about it.

Species: Sorceror is a species, not inferior to other Reapers. Her wanting to become a Witch is like a Werewolf wanting to grow up to become a Dragon. She can still want to do this, but you as a player should know it's impossible, and something she'll have to come to terms with.

Otherwise, you're good on Fear and Natural Ability, you seem to have it pretty well down except for some misunderstandings about the Setting. (: Glad to see you around the shop, and good luck!

first of all, yay @ your first quest <333
i hope i dont scare you off, i just ramble a lot OTL

adding on to ramen's- these students have NEVER, NEVER visited the human world. to do so, you would need a passport. the whole reason students go to school is to get said password. i know it alters your profile quite a bit, but its simply not possible for her to have visited the human world.

her natural ability is also a bit vague. what exactly can she enchant? what powers can she give? at the moment its a bit too overpowered- having the ability to enchant anything to do anything? LOL JK

agreeing with ramen- sorcerer/ess is a different class from witch. its not like a level up type of deal :> to me, it sounds like your girl is more of a mage type? i know we have at least one mage, harrow jude, who you might wanna check out. either that, or just keep her as a witch. witches are very respectable in halloween! theres no reason for her to think herself "lowly" because of that :>

i think her fear checks out pretty well though! so thats good <3
hope that helped a bit <33333

^ She copied that paragraph directly from the Reaper Racial Information Thread (which is the right thing to do!). Enchanting objects is a Sorceror/Sorceress's natural ability. XD She did good there.

Thanks, I am totally removing the thing about the human world and explaining why she loves duct tape.

Also, I know that she cannot become a witch, I guess I should say she wants to turn into a non fail Sorceress, and become more witchlike? saying that she could stop messing up on her spells and actually work them right, even if it never happens.

and i did copy and paste, but I also put in the two main things she would enchant which are her two dolls.

And it should be updated, so I hope it clarifies a few things. Is it okay to have just one parent? I'm sure of it.

You can have 0 parents - ie, just popped into existence from raw Fear.

But a minimum of 2 parents is required for the pumpkin patch method. Any more than 4 parents becomes unstable. (She could, however, just have one parent that raised her.) O:

Awesome, so it works out. She was raised by a "motherly" figure, that she conventiently calls mom. xD

So yeah, I think I am pretty satisfied with the form, however I would still love any available crits.

Main thing I can think of outright is Natural abilities tend to be far more simple and passive. Like just shifting shape, being stealthy, able to eat something most halloweeners couldn't. To say she could not only animate these very specific dolls but make them attack seems like indirectly saying she has a pair of weapon abilities in addition to her FEAR.

Another thing is simplifying her Personality points a bit. They just go on and on and on to the point several of them reached TL;DR status for me(could just be me though).

Also not sure where this sorceress vs witch thing comes from... one isn't better than the other AFAIK - just two words technically defined as the same thing. Just witches tend to be generally represented as ugly(like a monster) while sorceresses beautiful.

I also got a really great tip with FEAR abilities before that has since stuck with me. Describe them like you would a move from pokemon. A quick short blurb if you've never played it. Like in your case I might have written it as, "Mercy attempts to blind her opponent with one of her dolls." No need to explain why it might fail as failure in the heat of rp could happen for any number of reasons at the time.

Also anyone else reading this; feel free to correct me if you feel I'm wrong or don't agree.

ackkk. I thought I had gotten rid of the whole witch thing in the application. xD I have updated it, as I found where it was talking about that.

And she can enchant anything, but she sticks to her dolls really. She usually only does one doll at a time. I tried connecting the fact that she can enchant things to her fear ability.

the way the guide explained it is that you can enchant a stick and it can shoot fire, so you can use that as a weapon. I guess when going into battle her dolls are not enchaned yet, but during the battle she can enchant them and the enchantment she uses is the fear ability. Its the one thing that she is "best" at even if it isnt perfect.

As to personality, I've seen a lot of very specific, detailed applications, and thought that would be the best route. I mean why give her a personality if you can't explain why she has that personality trait.

I finally added in the physical description. I had always wondered if I should or not, so I finally added it in.
