- ★ HISTORY: After transferring the official Championship to his friend Wallace, Steven started focusing on his work in the family business. He worked under his father for a year, then took over the company fully when his father’s health began fading. There were many other technology companies to compete with, but Devon Corp had a diverse product line and could thrive even against other Pokémon tech companies. Although he was running a business, he still kept training Pokémon to battle. Even though Wallace was the official one, it was said by some that Hoenn’s true Champion was still Steven.
When Sinister Grey rose to power on the mainland, many other Pokémon technology companies were forced to cut off all such research and production, transform over to a strict government-run company, or be destroyed. At the time, Steven was focused on his business, but he did recognize the danger in their thinking. There was already a branch out in the Sevii Islands, so as the current Hoenn Gym Leaders started agreeing or even allying with OMEGA, Steven checked through the ranks of Devon for those he could trust. They got into contact with others who were talking of joining forces against Grey, while transferring technology to Sevii and expanding the production capacity of the island’s factory. As OMEGA invaded Hoenn, Steven gave some fight, but fled to Sevii when it got too late.
Steven has kept Devon Corporation running, at least the Sevii branch. It’s the primary provider of resources and technology to the rebel group. However, he often has to spend time making sure the company is running smoothly and has the funding to continue operating as it does. He participates in the resistance movement personally, but not always directly.
