So, long story short. I left (technically I was academically dismissed) college around this time last year. I decided to take time off in order to aid my elderly grandmother (she's 85) who had broken her foot and was ill at the time. She made a full recovery and is doing great.
After my doberman of about ten years with me, he was fourteen, died and suffered depression. I got a job, sadly, I was jipped. I was told I'd be at the front desk... I got put into cleaning, and never saw the front desk of the gym. I'm treated very harshly, to a point I have come home crying. I'm exhausted, depressed, and it's to a point seeing a therapist sounds great.
So, I was debating lately on going back to school, clean up my GPA, and get a degree. But I want to keep a job as well so that I can pay my bills, which is car insurance, car payment, cell phone, and one credit card bill. Going back to school will make one nasty bill, the college loan one, to stop, but I'll still put in some money to really pay it off into savings.
Now, I have been debating on getting out of being "the cleaning girl" at the gym and becoming an instructor for classes such as Zumba, cycling, yoga, etc. If I have to go part time job, I would rather do this than what I'm doing now.
But I sit here, going through pros and cons.
- I'm trying to see if I should go to school full time or part time. - If I go part time, I can still hold my full time job. - If I go full time, I will have to make my full time job a part time one. (I am leaning at this one the most, I think it'll be less stressful and I can focus on the work more, which I really need to do) - If I go down to part time, I lose my full time benefits at work. - The place I work does offer $200 for textbooks if I go to school, as long as I keep my grades up. - If I go part time, I can work on becoming a fitness instructor to be a part time job, and move out of a depressing cleaning job. - Since I was academically dismissed, I will go my first semester back without financial aid unless I do very well, I get it back. - Financials shouldn't be a problem if I keep a part time job. I'll still probably get a refund check that'll help keep me on my feet if spent wisely.
... The list goes on.
Any advice? Comments? Etc?

School is always a good idea, if you know what you want to do. If you don't know, then don't bother, you'd just be wasting time and money. I was working a "part-time" job where I was basically working full-time, so I decided to go to back to school so I could become a teacher. Doing this has been the best decision I have ever made.
I got a new job and quit my old job because they wanted me to stay on during the weekends, which is when I work my new job. So they wanted me to work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I had school Monday-Thursday, and there would have been no time for homework, because I would have been working double shifts on Saturdays and Sundays.
Anyway, if you know what you want to do with your life, then I would suggest going to school full time and take the part time work position.

I know I won't be going back to Criminal Justice, my original degree, because I can't seem to see myself in the CJ field. It's a fun course of study, don't get me wrong on that. I enjoyed it, but it just wasn't the right cup of tea for me. I'm looking at what I can do for now. At least something to cover the gen. eds which a majority of my previous stuff was. But, I wanna be sure before I jump. I'm doing phone calls on Wednesday (my day off) to get some answers.
