It was raining lightly; it was almost a mist clinging in the air, creating dewdrops and a smell of fresh, damp earth. The sun poked out from behind the overcast clouds every now and then, but the sky remained persistently gray.
To Bell, the rain was just bothersome.
She didn't mind the cold that the wet provided; in fact, that was the one thing she could appreciate about the day's weather. But she was used to snow and ice, and the wet of mist clung to her feathers and slowly soaked its way in. She had to keep blinking as the rain gathered on the lashes around her vibrant eyes. The ground was mushy beneath her yellow feet, making them muddy. It was disgusting! She worked hard to keep up her beautiful appearance, and suddenly mud was ruining it.
She looked around for some cover and spotted some bushes that were growing beneath a tree. She headed for them, hoping that there wasn't another pokemon taking shelter from the mist as well there.

Niji was dozing peacefully beneath the shelter of the bushes. The combination of tree and shrub had created a dry spot in the drizzle, and he had happily curled up in it. A while ago a Ratatta had shared his shelter, but the rodent had moved on while Niji had decided to stay. The misty rain muffled the world, and assuming he could find a dry spot, Niji rather liked days like this. He snuggled his nose deeper into his tail. Yes, a nice nap on a rainy day was a wonderful thing.

Bell shoved her way into the bushes and spotted a shiny eevee, apparently sleeping, right where she wanted to dry off and get clean. He was in the way; what an inconvenience! She didn't feel like sharing space with a stranger while she was so bedraggled.
But wait... Hadn't she seen this eevee before? Indeed, she had fought him not too long ago, and now here he was again, bothering her! She decided to greet him with a karate-style punch on the head.

Niji heard another pokemon crashing closer, and roused himself. Just in time, as he saw a pink limb smashing towards him! Niji rolled out of the way, and quickly sent an Iron Tail towards the intruder. Had he accidentally claimed some other pokemon's regular sleeping spot? But it had been empty other than the Ratatta and he all day!

Bell shook off the Iron Tail attack and hissed at Niji. Without losing any time, she charged up an Aurora Beam, making it as fancy and colorful as the eevee's rainbow colors. She released the multi-hued beam at him without delay. The longer the battle lasted, the wetter she would get!

"Hey now, come on," Niji said sweetly as he blinked sparkles out of his vision. "We can share the dry spot, and two are warmer than one. I can groom your back?" he offered, still not able to see clearly and not sure of what he was facing.

Bell's feathers puffed out aggressively (though she couldn't help but be a bit receptive to the pretty eevee's charms). "Ew, don't touch me," she said to him, already charging up another Aurora Beam. The last thing she needed was a flirtatious eevee trying to take advantage of her. Now moving him out of the way wasn't enough for her; she wanted him gone and out of sight! She gave him another colorful blast.

"You first!" Bell snapped back, stumbling to avoid the tail. She almost slipped in the damp ground, but she was built for slick ice and snow, so she was able to save herself by digging in her talons and catching her balance. She attacked again with the beam of colors.

Bell flinched back again from the sudden spray of stars, but they didn't hurt for long. She swung back one flipper-like wing and swung it with all her might at the eevee again.

Niji yelped and tumbled back. His vision finally clear, he looked at his assailant. "You! You're that delibird who attacked me before! What is wrong with you?! Stop following me and attacking me!" Niji said as he swiped his tail at her again, this time with the intent to do some damage.

"Seriously, I can understand if you have a crush on me," Niji taunted, "but it isn't mutual! All I was doing was sleeping here, and you attacked me out of nowhere! You attacked me last time to, just walked up and started laying into me! What is your problem?!" Niji snarled, sending another swipe of his tail at her.
