Roll a Twelve: Graveyard Field:In this particular field selection, the stadium ceiling is shut tight, covering the entire inner area of the stadium in a veil of pure darkness. The ordinary dirt field is swapped out for a field full of grave stones scattered across the lifeless soil. Near the northern end of the battle field, a single withered tree stands hunched over as though in constant mourning of those who rest for eternity here. A dense fog weaves in and out of the headstones and hinders vision. The fog itself seems damp and heavy, like the tears of the living mourning for the lost. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GHOST and DARK type attacks.

Walpurgis ran up to the patform over looking the graveyard. If he looked excited, it would have been because he was - The Motterasa Gym Leader had disappered, and there was an opening. The Rockets had had a base of operations there before, and all the grunts were given a mission - become the gym leader of Motterosa, and regain the valuable foothold for the glory of Team Rocket. Those who succeeded would be granted the title of lieutenant.
Walpurgis shook with excitement as he recalled those words. Lieutenant.... Being a lieutenant would bring him closer to meeting his idol, Giovanni, and ever since meeting Mr. Sol, he'd wanted to become a gym leader. The opportunity was simply too good to miss.
But to become a gym leader, he had to get stronger. Even more, Gangrel had to get stronger. The rattata was his only pokemon, after all. Although that had never stopped him before, he knew it was a great disadvantage - even low-level gym leaders like Brock of Pewter City had two. Gangrel wouldn't mind the disadvantage, Walpurgis knew. In fact, he'd probably take it as a challenge. And so all the more reason to get Gangrel stronger.
The first impulse would obviously be to evolve him, but Gangrel hated the idea of being a raticate - all the other ones at the rocket HQ mocked him early on, and it wouldn't be as satisfying to be better than them all if he was just another raticate. No, he wanted to be a rattata forever. And as much as Walpurgis wanted to be a gym leader and meet Giovanni, he wanted Gangrel to be happy more.
And so, it came down to rigorous training. Walpurgis smiled as Gangrel paced around - although he didn't show it, Walpurgis was sure that Gangrel was excited for the competition too. Now to await their opponent.

Jenk had taken a brief vacation from battling. After working for a few weeks in a canine rescue center and bringing Tyrion home, it had taken a bit longer than she'd like to find a new place to live. After all, she was pushing it with the Pokemon she had had, and her landlord had finally had enough. Still worrying over bills, a place to live, and a job to furnish these things, Jenk strolled into the stadium with Meksuda walking alongside her on his leash. She was eager to battle Tyrion, too, and poor Cersei hadn't gotten her turn yet, but Meksuda always made Jenk feel at ease in the stadium.
She walked into her assigned stadium, thoughts on Motterossa and the canine rescue, among other things, and smirked a bit at the graveyard. It was fitting to her mood, really. She looked at Meksuda, stroking the fur of his head as they climbed to her platform. "You ready, love?"
The Eevee purred and bumped his head against Jenk, before returning to his Pokeball to be thrown into the stadium. Jenk glanced across the way at her opponent, and smiled. "Good luck!" She called from her end, smirking a little. However it turned out, battling was always something that put Jenk's mind at ease. She was looking forward to the cathartic release.

Gangrel bounded down the wall and grinned wickedly at the Eevee. Up in the trainer's box, Walpurgis started to issue commands.
"Use Ice Beam to disable it's movement, Gangrel!"
At his commmand, Gangrel loosed a beam of ice that shot straight for the eevee.

Entertained by the trainer's eagerness to battle, Jenk watched Meksuda as the attack was commanded. The Eevee managed to leap out of the way of the rattata's ice beam, and spun back around, tail twitching in anticipation for the command that was on the tip of Jenk's tongue. He knew his trainer; he just needed to hear it.
Jenk grinned when she saw the anticipated twitch of Meksuda's tail, her eyes gleaming slightly. "Nice try." She said from her side, already feeling the stress seep off of her shoulders. Rolling them slightly back, she called out the command. "Bite, Meksuda!"
The Eevee bared its fangs at the rat before charging forward, mouth open in anticipation of clamping down on his opponent.

The Eevee clamped down on Gangrel, and he let out a hiss of withheld pain. Walpurgis was unconcerned - Gangrel had been through worse. Still, though, Gangrel worked best with a huge ego, and the eevee had given him just the perfect opportunity to inflate it.
"Gangrel, use crunch, and show that poser how it's REALLY done!"
Gangrel's fangs grew longer and sharper, and his eyes gleamed in the darkness, all to happy to oblige. Opening wide, Gangrel moved to bite the eevee.

Seeing the Rattata preparing to take a chunk of Meksuda out with those teeth, Jenk shouted another command, hoping that Meksuda would register it in time to avoid the attack. "Meksuda, knock those teeth out! Iron tail!" She just hoped Meksuda would avoid the attack. He was a good battler, and she was confident this early in the battle, but you never really knew.
Luckily, the command came a second before Gangrel had a chance to bite Meksuda. The Eevee stepped back slightly, and spun around, lashing out with his tail as it stiffened and sharpened to a steel weapon.

Gangrel noted the movement and dodged to the side a moment too late as Meksuda's tail struck him in the thigh. He chattered angrily at the eevee as his fangs returned to their normal length. Rushing up the tree in the middle of the graveyard, he awaited instructions. He could have done it without his trainer's help, and had done so many time's before, but Walpurgis wanted to actually partake in the match.
Walpurgis stalled to consider what he'd seen. The eevee was a good battler - that was obvious. It wouldn't do to mess around. If things kept going the way they were, Gangrel would lose, and that would be a great bit of trouble. After some careful consideration, Walpurgis was ready.
"Gangrel, use another Ice Beam!"
Nodding, the rattata's eyes became a light blue as a burst of ice shot forward from his mouth.

Before Meksuda could cleverly dodge the attack again, the ice beam struck. With a hiss, Meksuda tried to move before he was frozen, but it was inevitable: The ice closed in around him, making sure the Eevee wouldn't be able to move. Jenk grimaced a little when Meksuda was encased, and chewed her lip. Even now, the ice began to slowly drip down. Hopefully the block of ice would dissipate sooner rather than later.
She just hoped the damage done wouldn't be too severe.

Gangrel's eyes turned back to their normal red color as Meksuda was frozen. He glared at the encased Eevee - the trouble he'd given him!
Walpurgis called out to him, knowing that Gangrel would attack if he didn't.
"Use Work Up, Gangrel!"
Gangrel seethed in place as he waited for the ice to melt. He generally would have attacked by now, but his trainer seemed to want to do something different this time.

Jenk was momentarily thrown when, rather than let the Rattata strike at her Meksuda, the trainer called out another move. She was impressed, though, and couldn't help the momentary admiration. It was a smart move; bulk up while the opponent was frozen. And it saved her from having to worry about any damage. The ice began melting faster in the graveyard, and the Eevee inside twitched slightly, anxious to get back into the battle.
Jenk didn't waste words; Meksuda would be fine. She had confidence in her Pokemon. It was just a matter of waiting out the ice before they could show this trainer what he was really capable of.

"Use Rock Smash, Gangrel!"
Red eyes gleaming mischeviously, Gangrel ran over to a tombstone, placing a single paw on it. The grave marker shook and rumbled before ripping itself out of the ground to fly straight towards the almost-but-not-quite-thawed eevee.

Finally, Meksuda broke through the ice with a low growl, shaking off the last of the cold and bracing himself for impact when he saw the Gangrel throw a punch at a tombstone. The rock shattered, of course, and though Meksuda made a move to dodge it, he didn't move fast enough and took the hit hard. Jenk winced for her Eevee, growling a little. "Meksuda! Shake it off, love, you know what you're doin'!"
Meksuda rose, fangs bared at Gangrel. Jenk watched the shudder through Meksuda's fur and smiled inwardly. He was as anxious for a win as she was. "Headbutt him, Meksuda!" The Eevee growled his approval towards Jenk, and ran at Gangrel, lowering his head as he sped up to headbutt that rat as hard as he could.
