Alexandre hadn't spent much time mulling over what it was he was going to do on this unusually sunny day in the dead of winter. All he knew as he stepped out of his cave was that he was going to spend all day out in the sun, soaking up it's sweet rich rays. Maybe he would even find a small den in the forest to stay for the night just so then he wouldn't have to worry about wasting any precious daylight hours. He knew his wings could carry him back home, but if the sky was going to pour snow down on him, well he wasn't going to fight against it. Being blind he could do everything everyone else could do minus being able to see. However, he wasn't foolish enough to try and tame the winter storms.
Trotting silently down the path from his cave he found himself humming a light tune. He didn't know the words, and honestly couldn't recall where he had heard it, but it's melody seemed to go along nicely with his mood and the day so he kept humming along. His wings were held tightly against his back, his dark mask tucked away in his cave for another day. Alexandre had no intention of walking onto another stallion who may want to ruff up his feathers a bit. Nope, today was just the perfect day for a walk and maybe even if he was lucky a few meet and greets.
Something quite mysterious about the mountains in which he lived was that you were always left guessing what would happen next. Would there be a random storm cloud? Would a soquili pop out of the forest, ocean or even higher up in the mountains? Alexandre certainly could never guess. Which, surprising enough he liked. He speculated that others might not feel the same way he did about random encounters with all types of soquili. But then again, to each their own. Thankfully he had never met a kalona or a skinwalker. He hoped to the spirits he would never be that unfortunate.

Auva had been out exploring... again. She had heard stories about the mountains from her grandfather, he had once lived up here... many moons ago, before eventually settling in the lower land around their lake so he could remain by his mates side. Although she looked like an Angenicorn she wasn't completely pure... despite the fact that she was born from the line of probably the most powerful Angeni of all times (as far as she was concerned at least). Her grandfather on her fathers side, and her grandmother on her mothers side were regulars, although her grandmother did have mutant blood dormant in her viens... still none of that mattered to Auva. All that mattered was that she enjoyed life. Enjoyed dancing and exploring. She even enjoyed playing with her siblings.... however Auva had a secret, well maybe it wasn't a secret... she simply had never voiced it... she smiled wider at her internal pun. You see, Auva was painfully shy, she didn't really know what to do around others and this was probably half of the reason why she had never spoke.... the other half you ask? Auva had never felt like she had anything to say. What could she say that would have any impact on anything? She was so tiny, even with her body growing into it's teens she was not much larger than a foal... especially when placed next to her HUGE Grandfather.... and her wings were smaller than her siblings, taking after her father rather than her mothers side. Auva was happy with herself though.... as much as a teenager could be. That was why she had paused in her exploring to dance. The rythm she was keeping pattered out a steady 'one two three four'... 'once two three four'... 'one two three four' as her hooves swirled and twirled, danced and bounced, she did a few jumps and special movements that involved her wings. She was so consumed by the music in her head that she never heard the introduction of a new note... a note made of hooves approaching. Dum dum... dum dum.... la la la la la... dum dum dum... la la laaaa la la, la la... la la la la! The music played on and on in her head.

Still humming whatever song it was that had gotten stuck in his head, Alexandre's ears swiveled on his head as he heard like foot steps moving around just behind the brush before the mountain began to turn into forest and eventually a beach. As he stood there for a moment he listened as hard as he could to the sound of the hooves as they hit the ground with each step. The sound they made was slightly hypnotic. Was someone sparring? No, that didn't quite sound like it. There certainly was only one soquili, one that smelled like a mare, but the way she was stepping didn't sound quite like someone who was fighting an imaginary enemy.
Deciding it was best to make himself known rather then peering through the brush like some wayward stud, Alexandre took several steps that led him through the brush and allowed him to stand not more then a few feet from the mare. When his rump was out of the brush he began his greeting, bowing to the fellow teen, his left wing extending to his chest as he did so. "Hello miss. My name is Alexandre." He said, remaining in his bow for a few moments more before rising to stand in a normal position. Smiling politely his eyes focused on her feet, his eyes not able to see them but his ears allowing the picture to fill his mind.
"May I ask what it is you are doing?" Alexandre asked, his left wing pointing slightly at her feet as he tilted his head slightly to the side. His forehead creased together as his mind trying to figure out what it was they were doing. His knowledge on whatever it was she had been doing was limited as his mother nor father had ever danced in front of him or his siblings before. In fact, the poor boy knew nothing of the word dance.
It was then that he also noticed his head had turned slightly farther down then usual which signified to him that he was speaking to someone much smaller then him. Were they a foal? No.. Their scent was stronger then that which meant that they were older. But not to strong as to be sniffed out from miles away as an adult would. As Alexandre stood their, finding himself more and more perplexed by this mare by the moment his head tilted from side to side a couple times before it went back to a straight position. One eyebrow raised as his eyes still focused on her hooves. What.... Is this? He thought, his sense of smell now focusing on her peculiar scent. It smelt a bit familiar but at the same time, not. Could this be one of the evil creatures his mother had told him stories of? Oh please spirits let it not be so. However confused he was as to what she was he never left his position, his hooves locked into the snow. He still had no intention of fighting anyone today, let alone a kalona or skinwalker. Alexandre guessed that he was really no match for either. And today just did not feel like the right day to perish to him.

Auva froze..... her movements stopping the instant someone announced themselves. This was the second time she had been caught dancing unaware... she really should stop, she thought, the seriousness of her situation making he believe that one day the one speaking wouldn't be... nice.
She slowly turned to see a white stallion bowing and she couldn't help but smile. Maion, her grandfather, and as far as she was concerned the most powerful Angeni of all, had told her once that a bow was a sign you meant no harm by leaving yourself vunderable for a moment. For that reason she did the same.... only to notice that the strangers eyes seemed.... unfocused. She blinked, surely she had seen wrong... nope... and they were roughly looking at her hooves. She looked down and then his question suddenly made sence.... he wanted to know what she was doing because he couldn't see.
A blush covered her cheeks... she would not speak... but how would she answer him? A soft determination began to glow within her as she approached Alexandre, as he had introduced himself to be, if she would not talk and he could not see then she would show him. Of course, as soon as she was stood before him, with slow steps so not to spook him, she felt lost. This was mostly for two reasons.... one, she had never danced with anyone else before let alone a stallion and two, how did you ask someone to dance if you did not use words?
She blew out a slight breath of frustration at herself before an idea slowly began to form..... her right hoof started to tap the ground in a soft melody. Tap tap, tap tap, tap tap tap-tap, tap tap, tap tap, tap-tap, tap-tap, tap, tap, tap tap. Auva hoped that he would understand... if not she would figure out another way to explain herself.
Even as she struggled with her little problem of speaking without words to a seemingly blind stallion she couldn't help but wonder... what must the world be like without sight to see the wonders and beauties around? She felt a soft shard of sadness at what he was missing.

Alexandre couldn't help but smile when he heard the mares movements shift to mimic his bow. It put his heart to ease. However it's pace quickened when she stepped closer. This was the first time in his life he had ever been this close to a mare that was not of kin. His cheeks thankfully did not redden but his breath caught a bit in his chest for a brief moment. When he heard the mare begin to tap her foot his head turned downward as his ears pointed as far forward as they would go, his mind trying to figure out what it was she was trying to do or tell him.
Raising his head his eyes showed his look of confusion even though they could not see. His wings unattached themselves from his back and fell to his side slowly, not wanting to scare her or make her think he was going to do something to harm her. It was then that he noticed the mare had not responded to him. That seemed to be a bit odd to him. But it let emotions flood in of his brother Damir and how he had never heard one word from him. Then the thought occurred to him that maybe she was like him, stuck in a quiet world. Whether by choice or sad stroke of fate. It really didn't matter. He would not force her to speak if she could. But how would he work around this? Him and his brother had made their own code when he had been able to see, thankfully most of it was done through touch or movements as Alexandre had begun his descent into blindness at a young age and had thankfully been able to recognize that his days of sight were probably limited.
"Miss, I... I can not see what it is you are trying to show me or tell me. I'm unable to see." He said with a warm smile, trying to tell her that he was not sad about this.Slowly he moved his wings to his front, dangling not more then a couple inches from her hooves. Maybe he could see through touch. "May I see with these instead?" He asked, nodding to his wings. He knew what he was asking would probably freak her out a bit but he hoped she would understand it was not for any reason other then to understand what it was she was trying to show or tell him. Although, he found himself wondering if it would actually work or not. He had never before tried to do something like this, but the theory seemed logical. After all, when he found himself unable to pick out scenery with his ears he would often push his wings out and instead feel it.

Auva blew out another breath of frustration... it wasn't working, and she was running out of ideas. She listened to his words, her ears flicking to the tones of each word... he had a lovely voice, and as he nodded towards his wing her eyes were right there with him, looking at the feathered appendage. It was so very like her own, though she had four and he had two. Wind... he believed that was the name of the breed with two wings rather than four, since Auva had never spoken all of her knowlegde was absorbed through listening and whenever one of her sisters had asked a question she found herself even more eagar to commit the answer to memory... yet she had never felt tempted to ask a question of her own.
Perhaps it was a sign of niavity but she lowered her head to his wing and pressed her face into it softly as silent permission for what he asked; she was born into a herd were touch was treasured and given often. She had been loved and cherished as a basket and foal, and for this she probably didn't completely understand that touch and skin privileges were really only for those you trusted and cared about. Though... she didn't really think that he would be able to 'see' her hoof movements by touching her with his wing, so Auva decided... despite her shy nature, despite her usual lack of wanting to do anything new or possibly dangerous, that she would show this stallion something she had not shown anyone else. It was probably that he was blind that gave her the courage she would never had realised was hidden within her. But with a soft gulp she moved slightly closer, brought two of her four hooves forward so that the soft delicate feathers touched his neck ever so softly as they ran down his body towards his wings.
It felt awkward, and considering she had never done this before that was likely the reason why, but her wings soon found their location; each was softly placed by his own wings and she stepped back, using her wings as encouragement for him to follow. For now she only took one step, wondering if he would follow or if this attempt would fail as well.
In all of 'problem solving' Auva had never considered that the stallion may not welcome her touch.

To say he was taken off guard by her gesture of acceptance, that he could touch her was not even close to a good explanation. As she stepped forward and touched his coat with her wings a shiver went down his spine, one that almost made him pull away and run away like a giddy little fool. Alexandre had never in his entire life been this close to a mare before, let alone had one touch him. As he stood there, letting her touch him, seeing what it was she was doing his body was frozen solid, his cheeks and body turning a very light pink. Thankfully he couldn't see this happening to his own body or else he probably would have just died right there in that spot.
When Auva began to pull away, beckoning him with her wings he tried his best to follow. His wing tips gently touched her hooves as he did so, feeling each movement. Tilting his head slightly he looked up at her, still very pink. "Miss.... I." He said, turning his head back to look at her hooves. His brain trying to process what it was she was showing him. "I understand what you are showing me.... But I do not understand what it is." Alexandre finally said, pulling his wings from her hooves as he stood their, lips pursed in confusion, trying to mull over how to best describe what he was thinking.
"Miss, will you do it again? Those movements." He said, referring to her dancing earlier, but not sure what it was called that she was doing. As he stood there he took in a deep breath, trying to mimic the sounds he heard and the moves she was trying to show him. Sadly his execution was not as well preformed as her's and it probably looked more like he had a tick on his hind quarters biting him. When he had finished trying to show her what it is he had meant he awkwardly smiled. "That movement." Alexandre said finally, his breath a bit strained.

Auva noticed the soft light blush that had tainted his otherwise white pelt but made not action that would give away that she had, instead she simply stepped away when he confirmed that he understood some of what she was trying to explain. Surely he had heard of dancing? As far as she was concerned everyone had heard of dancing.... and dancing under the Moon? Well, that was held sacred in her herd.
The softest and most quiet of giggles escaped her as she watched him try to copy what he had heard, she didn't imagine it was easy when you couldn't see.... but all you really needed was a good tune and to allow your heart to float.
She nodded to him, only to blush when she remembered he couldn't see her movements. Taking a deep breath she turned away from him, trying to block him out so that her self-conciousness didn't destroy what little confidence she had. Auva was normally extremely shy, she had never interacted well with others... and at times even had trouble with her own siblings; but she knew no matter what they loved her and cherished her all the same.
One... Two... Three....
She started again, playing the same song in her herd. It was about a lover, rising from the Ocean to greet the one they had watched for so long only to be cast away and betrayed. She didn't know why she liked the tune, it was sad in parts but the first half... the chase, the confidence... that she related to a little as what she wanted herself. Her hooves started to move, her wings followed suit and before long her whole body was moving with the pure grace of the Angeni.
She span, and turned, and once when she was close to Alexandre and the music beckoned in her mind she touched him briefly on the chin with her wing before pulling it towards herself again... inviting him to join her if he wished.

Despite his general lack of understanding when it came to this foreign concept called dancing, he found himself actually enjoying himself in the moment. It was fun to just let one's body move. Even though his execution could use some work. As Auva once more touched him with her wing, this time for him to join her he smiled and nodded, letting his hooves do the work as he began to dance.
This time he was much better at copying her moves. His ears were perked forward as he listened to every movement she made with her hooves. As soon as he heard her steps he tried very hard to mimic her's with his. With a smile Alexandre looked in her direction. The beat his hooves were making formed almost a song in his head.
After a short while of dancing Alexandre stopped and let his neck hang a bit, obviously trying to catch his breath. "That.... Was quite a workout miss." He said, still smiling though, now it was a bit strained due to his lack of air. With that he let himself fall to the ground with a loud huff, his wings outstretching around his body. "I require some practice..." He said with a chuckle, his head turning up to her. "But I think I did much better this time Miss."
Once he had finished he let his head fall to the side as she closed his eyes. Laying their silently he thought of in his head what they looked like, trying to piece together the sound of their hoofsteps and also trying to visualize in his head what the mare looked like. He could picture her with wings, and he knew her to be young and rather fit. As one would have to be to be able to do such moves. Alexandre himself was rather fit but... His expertise was limited. "You move.... So...." Alexandre said, his eyes still closed as he tried to find the right words. "Poetically." He finally managed to get out. Although, he wasn't quite sure if that was the word he really wanted to use even though it did fit quite a bit. Her moves were poetic, at least in the sound they made.

Auva found herself happily going with the flow, the soft smile upon her lips refused to shift, and despite the mistakes her 'dance partner' was making she had to give him credit for being limber enough to participate they way he had. She couldn't imagine being blind... to not see... well, everything.
And she loved to dance, it was the only way she truely expressed herself since she didn't speak. Yet, every time he called her 'Miss' she found her nose scrunching up slightly in dislike.... she knew she couldn't tell him her name with saying it, and that didn't seem important anyways, but the 'Miss' made her feel old... and she had the feeling that he was slightly older than her.... or maybe they were the pretty much the same age? She didn't know, she huffed ever so softly, the sound caused more by the air in her nose than actual purposeful sound.
Stepping back as their movements stopped she found herself bowing softly to her 'partner', as proper dance etiquette called for. She had to agree with his words... he had indeed done much better this time. Her lungs heaved slightly with the effort but since she did this most of the time she wasn't quite as stretched her 'partner' was... of course if she had been running or swimming it would have been a very different matter. She supposed it was all about what muscles you used. She remembered seeing her Grandfathers leg muscles buldge whenever he took off at a run or spang suddenly into the air, or her sisters neck muscles twitch whenever she was annouced and forced to hold her head up high..... she smiled thinking about Heze.
Yet those thoughts shifted almost instantaneously at the stallion's compliment. A beaming smile covered her features, to be swiftly joined with a bright pink blush upon her cheeks, it was probably a good thing that her cheeks were so dark as only her nose would usually change visible.... yet she supposed she didn't have to worry around this stallion, for he could not see her.
What did she do now? She moved a little awkwardly. Manners told her she couldn't just turn and walk away.... yet she couldn't strike up a conversation without words.
For a moment she was scrambled, her eyes darting around the clearing for any spark of inspiration. None appeared so she simply sunk to the ground and spread her four majestic wings out wide so that they could be warmed by the sun.... Auva simply didn't know what to do. Ever the social recluse....
