[ 1 ] How to Kill a Mary Sue - A Basic Guide to Characters

Introduction:
Yes! You've found a brilliant roleplay and now, with a profile template copied and pasted into new message, your only a few paragraphs away from hours of epic dragon slaying, zombie raising, spell casting mayhem. But hey, slow down for a second! Spare a thought for your poor OC for a moment... you know, the one your probably going to be using for next few dozen pages?

It might not occur to you at first, but how well a character is constructed, progresses and played is crucial to the success of a roleplay (or stories for that matter). There are numerous components to creating a good, well developed character in addition to a few additional helpful annotations to remember when using them in a role play (staying in character, reacting and interacting etc...) Distinguishing between a well development character and a well developed character is the first step in becoming a better character creator and roleplayer.

But hey, don't fret! "From little things, big things grow" after all, right? The purpose of this thread is not to TEACH you how to make a character, but to HELP you improve how you construct a character. So, with that out of the way, let's begin!

N.B. Please note that- although I am a five year veteran to roleplay -I am still only a high school student, not a professional author or writer.
