This is an aim rp between Painted Moose and me.
Melantha walked through the grasslands as if every single piece of dirt beneath her paws belonged solely to her. Her gaze was brilliant and her face turned up towards the sun as if daring anything from above to come down and challenge her. It was just that type of evening. The dark lioness felt strong. No one could challenge her tonight without getting their tail burned. Actually the thought of a fight made the lioness smirk. She did enjoy the taste of blood after all.
That was the only time she enjoyed company after all. Others had to bring her amusement in order to keep her company. That or if she enjoyed looking at them. The lioness climbed a rock and sat to survey the land around her. At the moment she wouldn’t mind company really should the right type come around. Perhaps a strong male to beat or to have at her paws? Then again she was rather bored of those. Brushing her paw across her tail the lioness mused. She hadn’t had female company in a while. Perhaps then she should catch a wandering female for amusement?
She didn’t believe in luck or in the fortune of the gods, Melantha just made things happen. If she wanted it then it was done.
Crystalline eyes turned towards the sky with a pensive look. Eris rolled onto her side, arching her back against a boulder the color of her fur. She was content to have one of those lazy afternoons. After all, the games had ended and she was left without someone to tort- manipulate, as it were. What she needed was a toy, and just not any toy. A big stupid one to make her laugh. She imagined it wouldn't be long before some male crossed her path, and tempted by her feminine wiles, walked straight into her trap. "La la loopsy, who is such a fool?" She mused. "Round, round, spinning, eternally the fool. What a name is blood and fire? Gods whom hath wrought your ire~"
Slinking amongst the grasses Melantha’s ears twitched as a certain noise filled the air around her. It was faint, almost as if the tendrils of wind were purposefully allowing her to listen in, and it definitely caught her attention. Looked like the game may begin sooner than what she thought. Smirking the lioness made her way on top of the boulder to peer down below.
There with fur as gray as the stones around them was another lioness. She was pretty enough, but was her personality just as amusing? Either way it gave Melantha something pretty to look at. Almost like a living stone with cuts of color. Purposefully dragging her claws down the rock face the lioness slid down to land behind the other.
Without speaking her gaze studied the other. And so the entertainment can begin.
Eris' ears flipped back before she turned to look at what was making that horribly delicious noise. Just as quickly she was mesmorized by the darker lioness. She was certainly big enough, Eris thought. Though, it didn't take much to be larger than herself. But the real question concerned her intelligence. Eris thoroughly hoped she was stupid. It was so much funner that way. The stupid kind that angered quickly. "My, my, but you do like to ruin an afternoon, don't you?" Eris purred, sitting up only enough to get a better look at her company.
Melantha’s gaze glittered with amusement. This was definitely a relaxed lioness. Chuckling softly under her breath the lioness slowly nodded as if actually pondering the question “Depends on your definition of ruin, dear.” She smiled before moving in closer as if she was one with power, “Doesn’t look like I crashed into much to ruin.”
Sitting down she lifted her paw and calmly brushed back a stray piece of mane. An annoying little piece. Should she just rip it out or try to actually tame it? She would give it a chance to behave before deciding. Blinking she looked back at the other lioness, patiently waiting on the other’s move.
"Ruin is as vague as word as any, so even my definition tends to shift from time to time." She mused, large eyes looking on to the stranger. The way she moved was masculine enough, with the demanding quality of a brutal Queen on a rampage. What if she was, Eris thought. How peculiar that it would be her that this Queen would speak to. "Peace is as much as anything to ruin, but you look like the type that does it often enough. Tell me, how boring must your life be to stop and talk to me?" The way she said it, with her half grin, and light hearted twinkle could have been both curious and condescending.
Oh such amusement! Melantha actually let out a laugh at the other’s reply. “How boring must my life be?” She repeated with a light grin, “You should know dear how it goes. With no male to tease or torment it seems that I got myself stuck with an even more amusing piece.” The lioness leaned forward with a slight leer, “Do you also imply that it takes boredom to stop by and visit a fellow lioness out here in the middle of nowhere? Are you that insignificant to others?”
This one had a good way with words. Melantha appreciated that. It was much better than the raw power of a male trying to impose his way with her. Then again there was that one…shaking her head the lioness pushed him aside to focus on her current jewel. Such promise she held for today’s entertainment.
Eris' half grinned turned into her trademark Chesire smile, splitting her face from ear to ear. To have someone with similar views on the male species so close at paw was truly an interesting sight. "You place words in my mouth, dark one." Eris rolled her head until her ears scraped agasint the ground. "You speak of worth, and yet, what worth is there in having a conversation with strangers when there is nothing to gain in return?" Peculiar. "As you know the life of a wandering soul is far from leisurely, so why take leisure in talking? What do you say?"
Dark one. Melantha let out a purr of amusement. “I try.” She replied stretching out, her gaze never leaving the other female. “What amusement is there in just wandering alone? Should one not stop to find amusement somewhere out on this empty savanna? Leave the basic necessities of life to the corner of sight while the thrills are so much more appealing.”
She purred softly and dug a claw into a blade of grass, “As it is it takes two to talk so why would the other stay if she had more to do? Hmm?”
"You know," Eris levelled her gaze at Melantha. "When someone responds to one question with another question it generally means that they are either avoiding the topic, or are too idiotic to answer properly." As it was, Eris placed her head upon her paw, content with just watching the other. "Talking is something that strangers do when they're uncomfortable around one another. It's a bonding technique that I try my best to avoid." She smiled.
“I was wondering what it took.” Melantha mused softly. It seemed the round of questions was over with. And to think she was actually finding some entertainment from twisting her sentences into questions. “I hope I don’t seem idiotic then though you seemed to have done a bit of the same.” More of avoidance perhaps? Still she didn’t question it.
“Bonding you say?” Melantha made a slight face, “How odd that is. To bond would mean to actually care wouldn’t it?” She yawned, “Such a weird idea. I just prefer to think of it as passing time with others. Else we would all be chattering out there to ourselves for company.” Though at the same time she was fine by herself. It was odd what boredom could do to a feline.
Eris just laughed. "Did I now? Who knows with me. There is a fine line between insanity and intelligence, you know." If ever there was a lioness to walk the tip rope with ease it would have been herself. "You make a point, and yet, you keep saying 'we' as if the two of us mutually came upon each other. As I recall it, you were the one who disturbed me. That being the case, would it be rude of me then to ask you to shove off and die?"
“True.” Melantha chuckled, “I suppose it wouldn’t be rude, but more understandable. Though it’s hard to shove someone off after they’ve find amusement.” Still the lioness stirred, “I don’t mind company, but if the evening is moving on then so should I.” Her dark gaze looked back at the other lioness, “If I stumbled into you again or you into I then perhaps the entertainment can continue. As it is the shadows beckon.”
Turning she flashed one last bright smile before her dark pelt melted into the shadows.
