Head bowed but with eyes glittering up at her, Xelloss hoped he was being submissive enough for the skinwalker mare. He had worked for a purewalker himself so knew a little about their preferences, but just like madness, each one was different. He had heard impressive things about this particular skinwalker so doubted she was the type to flash insane and bite his head off, but that hardly meant he was safe.

"I come bearing information I thought you might find useful," he told her, doing his best to sound formal, but still ending up a little cheeky.

Unimpressed, Samsara watched him. She didn't believe that this kalona was speaking to her out of some altruistic nature. He wanted something from her in exchange from whatever information he had, and she wasn't one who gave out many favors. She mistrusted the sly look about him and the way his mouth twitched up into that suspicious smile between every word he said. She glared, her tail lashing a slow beat behind her.

"What do you want?" she growled.

Xelloss straightened from his bow but still kept his position nonthreatening. No sudden movements around the psychotic and insane. That was definitely a rule for life. "You see," he told her, still playing the part of the suck-up supplicant, "All I want to do is help you, really! I heard something and knew you would find it of interest." Xelloss was good at gathering information. Very good. Word had spread about the skinwalker living in this area, her minions, and a particular elder she wanted to kill... an elder that Xelloss had a bit of a grudge against too.

"And if this information I give you helps, let's say... chastise a mutual acquaintance of ours, all the better." His lips twisted maliciously. It was delightful to find a kindred spirit in sadism, all the more to find out that they shared the same soquili that they wanted to see bleeding.

Samsara scrutinized him with increased interest. She could assumed that their mutual "acquaintance" was her father. He was the only one in the herd that she knew had fought kalonas before, and truly the only one worthy of such a grudge. A memory pricked at her. It was starting to become a strain to recall things from before her rebirth but she managed to dredge up fragments of conversations she had overheard. There had been a kalona who hurt some herd members. What had he looked like?

Purple and black with a cruel smile. It was definitely the same one. Suddenly, his stake became clear.

"You were beaten back by his brainless followers, weren't you?" she asked without respect. "Trying to use me to get back at him?" Her stare at him was as intense as it was dangerous. "And why would I want to make an ally of someone who couldn't even beat off a band of misfits and idiots?"

"Meaning no offense, but-" Xelloss' voice dropped low. "I came closer to killing your father than anyone else ever has. I was on the brink of killing him before being driven off by those 'misfits and idiots." He had been moments away from striking the life out of the golden halfbreed before he was interrupted. Hayagriva hadn't been an elder then, of course, but that didn't cheapen the achievement in his eyes.

There were few things that he wanted to see more than the golden elder violently dead. He was perfectly happy to pass off the task to the skinwalker and let her work out her angst or whatever it was that motivated her, but he would be there to feed on the pain.

Intended or not, Samsara took offense. She seized up and hissed, stepping closer to the kalona and baring her pointed fangs. She wouldn't tolerate disrespect, not from kalonas or even other skinwalkers themselves. The animal inside her yowled for the kalona's blood and she saw little reason to deny it. If he was here to tease someone, he had chosen the wrong skinwalker.

"Say what you came here to say quickly," she hissed. "If you don't, my fangs will be at your throat before you have time to blink."

"I know when you'll be able to kill your father!" He did speak quickly, but it wasn't fear that animated him so strongly. "I know when you'll be able to kill him," he repeated more slowly. It had been a chance overhearing that led him to this knowledge. He had just been at the right riverside at the right time to hear the two Padmapani soquili discussing it.

"Not only just your father, either," he continued. "The herd is making some sort of pilgrimage. They'll be going through a narrow gap between two mountains. It's the perfect place for an ambush." He met her eyes, willing her to see the potential for carnage that such information held.

Samsara's mind raced. Plans were already springing into her mind. If the gap were narrow enough she could use Mahapadma to trap the herd and pick them off one by one. There were many Padmapani members but they preferred philosophizing to fighting. If it were a mountainous area there might be ways to trigger rock slides to crush them, or cliffs to sweep them off of.

"If this information is correct then you've earned your right to live," she told him, no longer preparing to rip out his throat. "You will return with me to Mahapadma and share every detail you have on Padmapani's movements." She wasn't giving him a choice, she was giving him an order.

"But of course!" Xelloss favored her with a cooperative smile. "I wouldn't dream of being anywhere else. After all..." He recalled back to the humiliation and pain he had suffered that day at the hooves of the Padmapani members. "I'm going to be on the front lines when your group starts massacring theirs." He was enraptured with this scheme, alight with thoughts of the bloodbath that would occur. "You'll find that in this particular mission, I'm going to be a very, very loyal ally."

"Good," she growled. "Then come with me." With a new collaborator by her side, she began to make her way back to the Mahapadma. The kalona was eager enough to tell her all he knew and every detail brought a new possibility into mind. The opportunity she had assembled her gang of fiends for had come.

They were going to murder the Padmapani.
