Who : Ethiriel, Jezabroux, Leo and Luka
Where : Leo’s Apartment
When : Noon to early afternoon
Weather : Very chilly, with a high chance of snow… again.

Reaching into his pocket, Jezabroux pulled out the key he had received from Leo when his nephew had first moved into the apartment. “You’ve never met Leo. But, you’ll get to meet him today. He’s a photographer, perhaps you can ask him to teach you how to take photos.” The acupuncturist spoke as he unlocked the door, letting in his charge enter first and shutting the door behind himself. “You can look but try not to touch or break anything Luka; this isn’t our house.” Taking off his peacoat and scarf, he hung them on the coat hanger by the door.

Luka also hung his coat and scarf on the peg beside Jezabroux’s. ”Mmmm. Of course, whatever you say.” The Satyr replied not quite paying attention. Unlike his guardian, the Satyr wasn’t quite as excited about meeting this Leo person on the grounds that the two had just traversed through cold to get into the apartment from the car. Instead, his amber eyes were scanning the room carefully for anything of interest. Eventually, his attention settled upon the neat stack of photographs sitting on the edge of the coffee table. Floating over, he reached down and picked them up. His wings ruffling lightly before folding neatly behind his back in a more comfortable position, the youth casually flipped through the pictures. ”What are all these pictures for?” He asked. There was no theme, no reoccurring object. The pictures were of everything and anything. But, there was no denying the strange sense of beauty he found in them. ”Will Leo get here soon?” Suddenly, he had a growing interest in meeting this photographer person. He had very many questions to ask.

Bag of groceries in hand, he made his way to the kitchen. It was a little thing of his, to make a meal every time he visited Leo. It was just what they were used to, a conversation over some food. Setting the various ingredients on the countertop, he put on an apron and began washing the green bell peppers. Hopefully Leo would enjoy vegetable lasagna for dinner today. “Well… that is something you’d have to ask Leo. Those photos are his art. And, he’ll be here soon. Patience is a virtue, my friend.” As he began directing his attention to chopping the green bell peppers, a smile tugging at the acupuncturist’s lips. It was hard to believe how much the Frei had grown in the course of a year. “I’m sure though, that Leo will be more than excited to explain everything to you.”

”I hope so. I want to see more.” There were a lot of things he hadn’t seen before that were in these photographs… "You should call him and tell him to walk faster."

It hadn’t taken long before the scheduled photo shoot was finished, but Leo was more than ready to go home and relax. Ethiriel had come with on her own accord, but it had been obvious that she was becoming weary, herself. She didn’t vocalize her discomfort, she rarely did, but Leo could see in her expression that she was in need of rest.

”We’re almost there, Ethiriel,” he cooed, adjusting the temperature in the car to suit her needs. In the five days that they had been together, adjusting was absolutely no problem. Generally, Leo kept the apartment at a moderate heat, even before she had moved in. The tallest hurdle was the Frei’s poor eyesight, but with time she would learn where things were placed and get around with practiced movements. Not that she had the issue of running into things. You kind of needed legs for that.

”Thank you, Leonard.” she said calmly, her eyes fixated out the window. While she couldn’t see properly, her eyes became accustomed to focusing on influxes of light. Leo had warned her about the Sun, which while she wasn’t sure where exactly such a thing was located, had been warned about the way it stung differently than other light sources when stared at. For the most part, she was just content with staring out the window. ”Do you have anything else planned for today, or are we retiring?” There wasn’t much else she wanted to do, but if her human were to wish it, she would follow. She at least hoped that there weren’t to be anymore photos; the constant, bright flashing caused her eyes to be sore and blurred what little of her vision she had even further. Once again, she didn’t wish to voice these facts.

Leo noticed Ethiriel’s fluttering eyelids, laughing quietly to himself. It almost reminded him of watching a child fight off their heavy eyes. ”You should shut your eyes. I’ll let you know when we’re home.”

The silvery Frei shook her head, a smile forming on her full lips. ”It is alright, I will be fine. Once I am fed I will be well.” Gently folding her hands into her lap, Ethiriel adjusted herself against the seat. She still wasn’t used to cars, but she found them comfortable enough to remain in at the very least. Still, she preferred being outside of such a contraption.

The blond nodded, his attention back out on the road. ”We’re almost there, anyway. We’re in the parking lot now.”

With Leo’s help, Ethiriel floated out of the car and stretched. The hosts of the photo shoot were kind enough, but the ride had been long and she was definitely looking forward to being inside and resting. Leo had bought a bunch of antique jewelry and other trinkets well suited for her needs, and most likely he wouldn’t have any problem with boiling a pot of water for them to share. Hopefully the rest of the day would be a lazy one and she could sit and listen while he worked on his photos.

Arm in arm, the two made it up to their second-story apartment. As Leo reached for the knob, keys in hand, he noticed that the door had been unlocked. Strange as it was, he cracked the door open and peeked inside. The smell of fresh bell peppers wafted out from inside.

”Hello, uncle Jez. Surprise to see you here.”

His long slender ears allowed him to catch noises better than his guardian, and Luka’s eyes were already glued to the door. That gentle clicking of mechanisms as the door handle turned, and that final click as it opened. And what he saw made him drop the photographs he’d been holding in his hands. Impossible. He had no words for what was happening right now.

Meanwhile in the kitchen, Jezabroux had just finished the last of the preparations for his savory vegetable lasagna and was putting it in the oven to cook when he heard his nephew’s voice. “Leo! It’s been a while wouldn’t you say?” The acupuncturist asked as he looked over his shoulder to catch a quick glimpse of the younger male. Shutting the oven door and setting the timer on, he quickly covered the distance between him and Leo before taking him in a strong hug.

It was hard to believe the last time he’d seen his sister’s son was over a year ago. But, it came as no surprise either. Last year, Jez had been kept quite busy trying to balance his time between work at the clinic and helping Luka to familiarize himself in his new surroundings when at home. Not to mention, Leo also had to attend to his schooling and photography job. In that sense, it was only natural that the men had a hard time in the past several month finding time for each other.

And then, today had presented itself as the perfect opportunity to visit his nephew with all of his errands ending before noon.

“You haven’t changed much Leo. You look exactly as I rememb-“ The acupuncturist broke off, catching sight of the other person beside Leo. Her features were elvish, elegant. And, she lacked legs. What she lacked, she had instead a ribbon, and inside that ribbon was a rune. The combination of those two, Jezabroux had learned early, were the makings of a Raevan. “You never told me about this! She’s exquisite, Leo. What is her name? Luka, come here.” He could barely keep the awe and excitement out of his voice. He was usually so much more dignified than this in front of others. “Luka?” Jezabroux questioned, turning to look at his charge when the boy didn’t appear. The youth was never one to miss an opportunity to meet another of his kind.

For the first time, time had suddenly slowed down for the Satyr. And everything was just beautiful and perfect. She was beautiful and perfect. From the way those lush black strands framed her face and brought out the color in her cheeks to the slender branches that rose above her shoulders as wings. And yet, it was her eyes that called to him the most. Eyes were the entry to one’s soul, and yet, hers were so hard to see into. And somehow, stranger yet, even the air was tasting sweeter. As he floated there in silence, committing her face to memory, Luka felt the gaze of eyes on him.

Snapping out of trance, he looked over at Elai. His guardian, the man had a questioning look on his face. But better yet, the twinkling lights in the older man’s eyes alerted the Satyr to his guardian’s knowledge of what had just happened. Looking at the pile of photos scattered around the end of his ribbon, the Frei quickly gathered together and set them down on the coffee table in a neat pile where he had found them.

Floating over to the other three occupants of the room, he greeted them with a light nod of the head. ”Luka,” He said as he introduced himself, his voice reminiscent of the first sunbeams coming down through an open window. His honeyed orbs fell onto Leo before drifting onto her. ”You’re Leo, but who is she?” He asked, motioning to Ethiriel.

It really had been a long time, hadn’t it?

Leo opened his arms for his uncle, releasing his hold on Ethiriel for a brief moment. As soon as he had let go, the Frei clasped her own hands in front of her and remained in place. ”How long, roughly a year? Heard you got pretty busy at the office.” Releasing the doctor from his hug, he shoved his hands back into the front pockets of his jeans.

Just as he was about to ask about his mom, Jez noticed Ethiriel tucked quietly behind him. Introductions had completely skipped his mind as the acupuncturist began gushing over the Raeven. ”Well, I’ve only had her since New Year’s Eve… You’d been busy and it skipped my mind, honestly.” he said, giving a shrug. ”I was going to give you a call once things were settled. I heard that around the time you got busy you ended up getting a Raeven of your own.”

It had been the truth. Not only had Jez gotten busy, Leo started becoming swamped in his own work around that time as well. Still, he really should have called.

Just as Jezabroux asked for the female Frei’s name, Luka had already planted himself in front of them and asked the same question. Leo couldn’t help but back up slightly, a laugh escaping his throat. ”Her name is Ethiriel,” he said, gently nudging her forward as he took her arm back in his. As she was brought inward, the blond took the opportunity to close the door behind them and keep the warm air in. ”She has trouble seeing, but is really quick to adapt. She’s a very fast learner and speaks practically perfect English.” Smiling, Leo couldn’t help but feel a little bit proud of her.

As her guardian spoke, Ethiriel dipped into a courteous bow, her free hand pulling her ribbon it what appeared to be a curtsey. ”It is a pleasure,” she hummed, straightening herself back out as she extended her hand outward between Jez and Luka, her eyes drawing toward her fellow Frei. Against the tan paint and dull colors of Leo’s furniture, Luka stood out in his mostly-white outfit and stark hair. As he spoke, she closed her eyes and basked in the strange warmth he emitted. How strange, it was like being outside when the wind was calm; she could feel her body regaining some of its lost energy. It wasn’t enough to feed her, but she did feel good.

”Luka and… Jez? Is this correct?”

“A little over a year or so. And yea, I think they want me to start a branch clinic but I’m not so sure. I don’t really want to move, and I’m not sure if Luka will want to either..” That was exactly what had happened, traffic in the clinic had picked up with that annual influx of ‘seasonal arthritis’ patients and now, they were scrambling to find more employees. And, having Luka under his wing at home had sucked up whatever free time he had left. But, it wasn’t unpleasant at all. It was actually nice, sharing his home with someone else. “New Year’s Eve? It seems like this year will definitely be one of huge change for you.” He said with a slight chuckle, letting his eyes fall on Ethiriel again. Certainly she was as her name suggested, ethereal.

“Well, Miss Eithiriel, you are quite a beautiful Raevan.” He complimented, returning her curtsey with a light bow of his own. He turned to look at Leo again, curious at his nephew’s mention of her eyesight. “Do you know if it’s myopia or some other condition? You should take her to an optometrist soon, see if there’s something they can do for her. And it’s impressive that she’s speaking almost perfect English at such an age. It took Luka about… half a year before he got the grammatical structure down right.” Zeke was right, these Raevans were all different. Each came on its own terms; no two Raevans were the same. “And such impeccable manners as well.” He said with a musing smile.

“You are quite correct. My charge is Luka, and I am Jezabroux. Though, you are free to call me Elai if you so wish. That is what Luka calls me as well.” He saw her outstretched hand and motioned for Luka to take her hand.

He had never quite felt like this before, and it was mildly aggravating. Heart palpitations, rising heat from his cheeks and even the need to laugh at everything that came out her mouth. Nevertheless, feeling his natural charm kicking in, the Satyr forced himself to relax and gave her a warm smile. ”Hello Ethiriel,” He greeted her as he took her hand, rolling her name gently across his tongue and giving it an idyllic woodland feel. A stark contrast against the clean, crisp way his guardian had said it. He could feel his confidence returning to him with each passing second; the momentary shock from earlier passing quickly.

As if to reflect his rapidly improving mood, the youth’s skin gave off a gentle glow, almost as if to entice Ethriel with it’s light. “I’m Luka, pleased to meet you.” Floating slightly closer to her yet, he couldn't help but reach over to touch her crown of braches. It was cool against his fingers, but pleasant all the same. She was definitely like him with the rune, ribbon, makeshift wings, and yet so different at the same time. Her wings were like none he'd seen before, made of the same branches that made her crown. She didn't have kitten ears like Lucia or a crown of spider appendages like Anya. Ethiriel was more normal in appearance than another Raevan he'd seen including himself. "I have never seen one like you before." He murmured, leaning in ever so slightly to catch a hint of that pleasant fragrance wafting off her.

She reminded him of something delicate. None of the other Raevans he'd met had evoked that kind of an image in him. Not Lucia, not Anya, not Zul, and especially not Prajna.

”Yeah, a huge change. Though it’s certainly not an unwelcomed one.” Leo said, his head turning back toward Ethiriel as she was brought back into attention. ”For whatever reason, her physicals were supposedly outstanding except that she had been born with Cataracts. They still haven’t figured out why, though.”

The photographer nodded, a smile forming on his face as his uncle bowed in return to Ethiriel’s polite gesture. As the man continued, though, Leo’s attention was drawn to Luka. The poor male Frei looked so confused and torn, and it seemed he had a lot on his mind. Was his face flushed? This was far from expected, and Leo nearly had to keep himself from chuckling. ”Zeke suggested taking her to get a checkup for her eyes in the near future.”

”You are too kind,” Ethiriel said, her eyes remaining locked on Luka as he was instructed to grab her hand. As he did, her other arm uncoiled itself from Leo’s and found its way to her fellow Raeven’s shoulder, both hands gently working their way up to his neck, then to his face. There, she pulled herself closer, her eyes focusing on his lovely golden orbs.

Leo watched as his new Raeven gave the boy a quick peck on each cheek, stifling another chuckle. So far, this had been her greeting for everyone she’s met. This time, though, her face remained close for what seemed like nearly a minute longer, almost as if to soak in Luka’s face. As she drew herself away, she nodded toward Jez and closed her eyes. ”Once again, Sir Jezabroux and Sir Luka, it is a pleasure.”

”Well,” Leo said plainly, clearing his throat before offering Ethiriel’s hand to Luka, ”I think I can help uncle Jez finish up the meal if you two would like to sit on the couch and relax.” His tone had become dry, but the amusement had all but left his face.

The Frei offered her hand once more at Leo’s prodding, a polite smile etched onto her lips. Ethiriel ‘sat’ on the couch, her hands folding neatly before her. She stared ahead, eyes resting on nothing in particular. ”Sir Luka, have you known at all of Leonard’s relation to your guardian?” she cooed, unable to resist the natural warmth the male held. Somehow he was able to renew her energy, if only by a little, and she didn’t mind in the least. With that and the water Leo was heating up for her at the very moment, she knew she would be content until supper, where her human was most likely going to bring out some of the things he had bought for her.

Jezabroux nodded, listening to Leo. “Really? Cataracts? That’s certainly strange. I don’t think Luka has any vision problems. Though, I do have an inkling that the boy tends to see on a greater wavelength spectrum than us with his affinity to light.” The acupuncturist had been watching the exchange between Luka and Ethiriel carefully so far. It would be a blatant lie to say the Frei was acting like himself. It was a new side altogether in the boy, no doubt flashes of his Satyr soul seeping in. Tonight was going to be interesting.

“A checkup for her eyes sounds like a good idea, better safe than sorry. I do hope they can come up with a solution for it though. Do you know how far to an extent she can see?” He asked, already moving towards the kitchen to check on his lasagna.

Luka tensed lightly under her fingers; he could feel the hair on the nape of his neck prickling up in an uncomfortable manner with each passing second. As she pressed closer towards him, he caught scent of that sweet fragrance once more and whatever worry he had felt slowly seeped out from him. He stayed still as her fingertips brushed against his face and made out his features. And when she pulled closer against him yet, his breathing slowed down slower yet. He could practically taste her on the tip of his tongue at this proximity.

His eyes locked against Ethiriel’s equally intriguing eyes and eventually broke the gaze when she gave him a kiss on each cheek. Whatever he had felt earlier was gone completely, he had seen this on TV. It was a greeting, a gesture, one that he returned to her. ”No, the pleasure is mine.” He countered.

“And yes Luka, why don’t you go sit down with Ethiriel.” Jezabroux said, missing the exchange of kisses on the cheeks between the two Raevans. Turning back to Leo, he smiled. “She’s quite beautiful. What is her fel essence and soul? The combination came together quite well.” He said, stealing another quick glance at the elvish Frei.

Taking a seat beside Ethiriel on the couch, Luka caught himself blatantly staring at the femme more than once. ”Not particularly. Elai always talks about him though. But, it is my first time seeing him. Elai is fond of him. I think… from the way Elai explained it, Leo is the son of Elai’s sister. I have not met her thought.” Scooting slightly closer to her, his downy wings ruffled light in apprehension. ”I want to know about you. What is it like for you so far?Leo said you can’t see well. So, describe to me what you do see right now. Are some things easier to see for you?” He asked, reaching up to tuck a loose strand of hair back into place.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 08, 2012 10:20 am

The way Zeke had reacted, Leo himself figured that cataracts were strange in a Raeven either way, but at this point there wasn’t much that could be done other than having her checked out. Still, she was adapting very quickly and had already learned the layout of the entire apartment, sans the dark room. He turned to look at the two on the couch, his mind wandering. So Luka was partially light, huh? ”From what I’ve seen, she has to be about an inch away in order to see. It’s one reason she gets so close.” The photographer followed closely behind his uncle, finally tearing his eyes away from the couch.

”Her essence, as Zeke called it, was “unoxidated silver,” and her soul is a tea plant. Green tea, really. You can almost smell it on her.” Leo smiled, ”She came out quite lovely. I was in shock when I first saw her.”

Opening up one of the cabinets, he pulled out two plates and two glasses, along with the appropriate silverware to set on the table. Already out was Ethiriel’s preferred mug, and the water was nearly boiling. Leo took a moment to tear himself away from either group to set the table, but immediately returned to the kitchen. ”I worry about her, but she does well on her own. She’s just unable to leave the apartment by herself. I’ve been toying with the idea of getting her a seeing-eye-dog.”

Ethiriel closed her eyes, her smile softening as Luka spoke. Leo had never mentioned his mother before, only small things about his father. ”Leonard had not spoken to me about Sir Jezabroux, but I am relieved that he is kind enough to think of his kin.” Her head turned slightly as Luka scooted closer, her eyes opening to look in his direction. Sadly, at that distance, he was very difficult to make out against the light colors of the room and the natural light seeping in from the large, windowed patio doors. ”It is very calm, I believe. Leonard has taken care to keep me comfortable and I am grateful.” The Frei’s eyes shifted, her peripheral being slightly better than her direct sight, though not by much. ”And yes, I cannot see well, but it is fine. There are… no definite shapes or lines, and colors blur together… but lighter colors are a bit easier to define. “

Once again, her eyes drifted towards Luka.

”What about for you? What do you see, Sir Luka?” she enquired, her hand reaching up to move a stray strand of hair from her face. She couldn’t lie, she was curious about what it was like to be able to see. How lovely everything looked on a day by day basis. There were several people she would never know how they looked. She could only go by sound when it came to those who hadn’t been introduced or those she would sometimes hear as Leo watched TV. Ethiriel didn’t feel upset over her lack of vision because she had never been graced with it and lost. She found that she was lucky for that, but curiosity was still a potent thing. ”What do you see right now?”

There was a quiet pause in the kitchen, partially from Leo’s curiosity of the conversation in the main room. He turned back to his uncle after taking a quick peek into the oven. ”Have… you heard from mom lately?” He knew that she had absolutely no interest in him or his father, but it was sometimes nice to hear if she was doing alright. He held no grudge, but sometimes he couldn’t help but feel a bit betrayed by the woman. ”Dad says he’ll be coming by sometime around May, I think. Maybe we can set up a day where you come and catch up.”

Pulling out the oven mitts from the drawer, Jezabroux set them on the countertop beside him. Turning and leaning against the edge of the counter, he couldn’t help but watch his nephew. “That is quite worrisome. You should probably have her stay out of the kitchen unless you’re accompany her to avoid any unnecessary accidents.” After all, the kitchen was a place full of sharp objects, fragile ones and even more dangers flammable ones.

At the mention of her fel essence and soul combination, Jezabroux was all ears again. “Fascinating. Silver that doesn’t oxidize. I’m assuming then she’ll feed on something like rust or tarnish? One day, you should take my mother’s house and let her feed off the silverware set.” Chuckling, he nodded at the mention of green tea. “Certainly, it’s hard to miss such a pleasant smell like that, especially when such a smell evokes such wonderful memories.” The acupuncturist suddenly found himself nostalgic for home. Not his apartment in Durem, but the small house sitting on the countryside. The one he had stayed in China with his teacher while learning acupuncture.

“A seeing-eye-dog would be a great idea, Leo. Ethiriel certainly seems mature enough to already wander around by herself. But, a dog would give her a little more independence and company as well.” He couldn’t imagine the Elvish Frei having any problems with remembering to feed the dog or walking it.

Luka paused. ”Elai is very family oriented. He visits his parents often and makes sure all of my needs are addressed as well. It’s only natural that he would make sure Leo is okay as well. Since, Leo is his family too.” He fell silent as she spoke again, this time talking answering his questions on her experiences so far and what it was like to see, for her. ”Then Leo is a good man.” He commented, taking a moment to look over at the dining table where the photographer was setting down the silverware.

Listening to her explanation of what she saw, Luka found himself slightly horrified. The thought of only being able to see splashes of color, vague shapes and no definite contours was upsetting. He thrived on visual stimulation. It was one reason why he liked the photos from earlier so much. ”That doesn’t sound nice… At least you can still tell colors even if it is difficult.

At her question, the Satyr took a moment to observe the room before speaking. ”I see a lot of things. I can see the path of light coming down from the lights above us. The different colors that are present in this room. The walls of the kitchen, this living area, and the hallway are certainly tan. But, each one is clearly different from the next. The kitchen has a hint of gold, this has some gray, and the hallway has a tinge of green. It’s slightly upsetting because none of the walls quite match with one another.” He paused, trying to find something slightly more interesting to talk about. ”I see clear outlines of people, and no two have the same features or are the same skintone. So, when I look at you… the predominant color for you is green. A light spring green. Your skin has a light tint, your wings and crown have it, and your clothes are composed of fabric of a color similar if not darker to it. Even your eyes, they also carry a faint green tint.”

He paused, unsure of how to continue. ”But, when I look at myself in the mirror, my predominant colors are… .an orange tinted lightly with a reddish brown and white. My hair is white, my clothes are white. I am not as nearly as colorful as you are.” He said with a smile. ”But that is boring stuff. There is nothing exciting to see in this room. You will like it better when it’s warmer. Everything is brighter, more colorful. Perhaps it will be easier to see then for you.”

Jezabroux had been listening into the two Raevan’s conversations just as Leo had. And found himself staring at the walls trying to find these grays, greens, and golds that Luka had hinted at. Nothing, the walls’ colors were all the same to him. At Leo’s question, Jezabroux shook his head. “Nothing. She hasn’t called us in a couple years now. She’s probably busy…” trying to latch onto another man. The words were unsaid, but the slight hint of anger and disgust lacing the acupuncturist’s voice said it all the same. He wasn’t one to show anger, but Helene was never a topic a good topic to bring up with any of the Ferenans. “Your dad? Really? That would be great. I can’t remember the last time I’ve talked to him. Even longer than how long it’s been since I last talked to you.” He chuckled slightly. Helene quickly fading from mind already.

The apparent nostalgia on Jezabroux’s face was more than enough to make Leo smile. Sure, he could only guess just what memories he was talking about, but at least his uncle did indeed have some good ones. A lot of the time, knowing only what he was told about his mother and everyone else’s situation in his family, Leo never knew just who was or wasn’t happy. However, even if he usually hid his ill-will, Jezabroux was a good man and the photographer was more than pleased to have him as family, especially during times like these. Sometimes it was good to just be able to sit down and have a nice, home cooked meal with kin.

”Yeah, that’s what I’ve figured. Sometime I plan on going and getting some antiques for her. Luckily she also seems content with water and sunlight, as well,” the boy said, glancing over his shoulder towards Ethiriel and Luka. They seemed to be hitting it of rather well, but much like his uncle he found himself glancing around the apartment for the strange array of colors the satyr claimed were there. He couldn’t even imagine what it’d be like to see such a spectrum, but given the Frei’s essence he wasn’t entirely surprised. It was interesting, though, that he saw just about every color in the spectrum due to his interesting composition. Leo couldn’t even fathom exactly how complex each Raeven was, even compared to each other. Ethiriel, regal and other-worldly, had been born with such poor sight yet made up for it with finesse and grace. He was sure she could outclass him, even if she were to be put in regular clothing. She was also so intelligent, it was surpising.

Nodding, he turned his attention back to his uncle. ”It’s not set in stone, but I’m sure he’d love to see you.” Leo quickly let the idea of his mother go, not at all surprised at the anger that showed rather briefly in Jezabroux’s eyes. No matter how many times he knew she wasn’t a welcomed topic for conversation, sometimes Leo just couldn’t help but wonder about her. He didn’t know the woman but… come on, she’s his mother. ”I’ll be sure to let you know if he does come, though.”

On the other side of the room, Ethiriel’s eyes remained on her companion’s; if it weren’t for the fact that, for the most part, she couldn’t see it would have seemed like she was scrutinizing him, but in reality, he was probably the only thing she could actually focus on. His lovely, silvery hair stood out in the dull, dingy blur of the room. His description was quite interesting and part of her wished that she could see through his eyes, even if for a moment. She longed to see colors that stood out against one another, sure that it would be a beautiful sight.

Green… the way he said it, it was as if he were admiration in his tone. Colors meant very little to her, but she would keep in mind that her garb was such a shade. ”I think you look… quite nice, with your… colors,” she said, her voice calm and light in the room. She could see him, at least more so than anything else in the room, and that was enough for her. His wings and sleeves were admittedly quite blurred, but she was glad that he had enough light colors on him that he was easy to spot. Leo generally wore mid-toned to darker clothing, which sometimes made it rather difficult to locate him if they weren’t in a lightly colored room, and she found that rather frustrating. Because of this, however, he was kind enough to leave markers on the furniture as guide marks for her. ”I am… quite… envious, of your interesting vision,” she admitted, offering Luka a slight smile as she gently folded her hands into her ribbon lap.

Jezabroux smiled. "That's a good plan. This area has a lot of antique stores as well so I'm sure you'll be able to find things for her at quite a low cost. Actually, even thrift stores are probably a good choice for finding things with silver." At the mention of water and sunlight, Jezabroux couldn't help but laugh. "Then maybe, I ought to just leave Luka here so he can be a light lamp for Ethiriel."

His eyes shifted back to the two Raevans talking in the living room, and he couldn't help but beam. It was nice to know that his family was becoming both larger and closer by the looks of it. With Ethiriel, and Luka's rather apparent adoration fo her, it seemed like he would be seeing both Ethiriel and Leo a lot more often in the the coming future. "Definitely, just call me when he visits and I'll take the two of you out for dinner. Three if you count Ethiriel."

Luka flushed a little at her compliment. For a second, he was glad that she couldn't see his face. "Thanks..." He murmured, trying not to let his embarrassment show through. He took another moment to gaze upon Ethiriel's face, taking in her gentle features. She looked like something out of a Lord of the Rings movie. From her gently pointed ears to the silver crown of twigs in her hair, he could stare at her forever. At her comment, Luka smiled. "Maybe Leo and Elai can help you see one day! There are doctors for everything! And maybe, Leo can even call the Lab and see if they know anything that could help you." How bad could her vision be?

"Elai has bad vision too. At home, we have special lights so that his eyes don't hurt. And, he always has to wear sunglasses when he's outside. I'm sure he would know someone that could help you." Luka tapped his chin with a slender finger. "If things are just blurry then maybe you just need eyeglasses."

Glancing over his shoulder, Leo slipped a playful scoff, ”From the looks of it, I’m sure neither of them would mind that idea.” The two seemed to get along well, much like Ethiriel and Anya had upon their first meeting. It was exciting and the photographer couldn’t help but beam a little – like a proud father.

”When I hear word from him, I’ll definitely let you know. I’m sure Ethiriel would love to get out into the Sun.”

”You are… most welcomed, Sir Luka,” she stated, closing her eyes and bowing her head slightly. Ethiriel’s lips parted, patient to reply as she searched for the words. ”When… Sir Leonard picked me up, they had discussed such a meeting. We have not heard word… in response.” Once finished, she smiled toward Luka once more, her hand idly reaching toward his though it merely landed on the couch between them, having not been able to properly see where his had been resting. ”Your concern is… very appreciated.”

To this, Leo raised his brows before idly tapping his chin. ”Speaking of, how’re your eyes doing?” he asked, adjusting his own glasses accordingly.

As Leo directed a question regard his own eyes, Jezabroux smiled. "Same old. They're not much better, not much worse. Still as sensitive as ever, but that hardly bothers me anymore." It was something he had dealt with since he was a young child, and it was now nothing more than an after thought to his daily routine.

Luka nodded at her words. "Why do you call me Sir?" His head tilted ever so gently to the side, his inquisitive nature kicking in. Ethiriel seemed to use it a lot, but the title was one he'd never associated with himself. There was Sir Ian Mckellen, and then there was Luka. But, there was no Sir Luka. "I'm not royalty or even a knight. Elai says only those knighted by the queen are called Sirs."

It was one of her peculiarities he'd picked up. It was a harmless one honestly, but he found it interesting. And, he wanted to know why she used it. Was it part of her... mystical appearance and elvish demeanor?

"Do I need to call you Lady Ethiriel?"

Ethiriel’s attention perked, brows rising ever so slightly at the satyr’s question but it wasn’t long before they settled over her gentle eyes once more. With a slight giggle in her voice, she shook her head. ”Gentlemen are… to be titled, but if you preferred I… shall cease.” she stammered softly, her hand pulling away from the couch and onto her ribboned lap. ”And you… may call me whatever you wish…”

A loud ringing sounded from the timer, alerting Leo and Jez of the lasagna being ready and the photographer was quick to help remove it from the oven, setting it on the counter for a moment to cool. ”I guess everything’s been pretty normal, huh? I mean, aside from the obvious,” he chuckled, though the humor hardly showed on his face. ”I’ve only had Ethiriel for a few days but… man, I can’t even imagine her not being around, now. I didn’t realize how badly I needed company.”

While the two Raevens weren’t in need of human food, having no stomachs, Leo worked toward setting the table for Jez and himself, as well as taking drinks and utensils with the help of his uncle. ”You two can come sit at the table if you want,” he called, looking back toward Luka and Ethiriel with a small smile, ”Or you can stay at the couch, whatever you’d prefer.”

A small smile tugged at the corner of the Satyr's lips. Something about the Frei stammering really tugged at him. It made her seem surprisingly vulnerable, delicate, even more than her appearance hinted at.

"I like just Luka. Sir and Mr, those are titles that not even Elai use." Luka explained. And quite frankly, if the acupuncturist wasn't using them, he really didn't see a need to be using them himself when being referred to.

Elai nodded and chuckled. "Yes, as normal as my life could be now." When Leo mentioned Eth's company, Elai smiled. "I have to agree with you there. The first week I got Luka, it was pretty hectic and crazy. And now that it's been almost two and half years, well... I don't know how I made it through my daily routine without having someone else in my apartment. He really livens up the place." The man took a quick look at the Satyr sitting in the other room.

"Do you want to join them? You can even smell the food better." The Satyr asked Eth, upon hearing Leo. "Maybe, we can even have a bite or two." It was rare, but sometimes, the acupuncturist allowed the Frei to have a bite or two of solid food. It was a rare treat that he really enjoyed. The flavors of pastries and pastas were completely different from the taste that flooded his mouth whenever he fed on light.
