So, for those of y'all who don't know, I do Krav Maga (Israeli Martial Arts/Self Defense). Yeah, I came out to my dojo today. Surprisingly, they were all very open to it. My instructor added and made a point that my sexuality is irrelevant; my attacker is going to try to kill me regardless (lol, I love sensei).
My sparring partner even said: "Just because you're gay doesn't mean I'm going easy on you." My response: "Dude, you were going too light to begin with." [-/queue.the.'Ooooh!'.cat.from.Puss.In.Boots] // He smiled, but punched me really hard in the face. He apologized, but it was interrupted by my follow-up knee to his chest.
Haha. I F$#in;' love life.

That's awesome. I did karate until early university, and no one at our dojo had an issue with me being gay. I never exactly came out to them, but most of the other students knew me through school, so it wasn't a secret. I'd love to get back into it, but my schedule doesn't really permit it right now. sad

nice! i've never really done anything as intense as Krav Maga, mostly taekwondo and jujitsu as well as kendo. stopped a few years back because it was so hard to feel connected in those big classes. however, i've always wanted to do Krav Maga! it sounds like a greater challenge. and congrats for you having the courage to do something like that. i probably would have had an anxiety attack just thinking about it

There are no rules; everything is fair game (we even practice shots to the groin). If you have an affinity for pain, it's the right Martial Art for you. The workouts are guaranteed to make you sore as hell the next day... But it's worth it. cool

First off, Love this story.
Second off, affinity for pain? How about a love of pain?
Third off, I love karate! I've been in it for 10 years. Sorta stopped after getting my black belt. Too many people talking about rumors of me cheating for it. Wish I had stayed in it. But maybe something else right? I'd love to try something more intense.... It's just not satisfying enough to beat the crap out of a pad or X-ray paper.
It would seriously help.

hmm, then i'll have to try it. i've been looking for something that gets rid of a great deal of formalities and goes right into it.
