It was against protocol. It was against the very basic levels of their code. It could be consider treason for such actions - but there were reasons that Wolframite did what he did. Despite being on eggshells ever since the Traitor Chambers he had been dragged into, something of this nature was worth the risk, and he felt armed with enough evidence to prove his point if ever questions.

And...it wasn't all that bad.

Sitting on the park bench alongside the talks, the pier long since closed for the reason and no one in their right mind willing to brave the brisk chill racing off the river waves and up over the flat walk, leaving him alone - for now.

The general made sure to keep hsi attention perked and alert for any signs of unwanted signatures, both interrupting his meeting, and also bothering him to fight. He felt in no condition at the moment, having to start to feel rather shabby these past few...months. Still, he sat with a cup of hot chocolate warming his hand, and another sitting in it's biodegradable carrier on the bench, waiting just as silently as he was.

It was cold. Scylla was shivering as she moved through the streets of Destiny City, a pair of pants and a heavy coat pulled on over her uniform. Why the Cauldron would deign to give them superpowers and not protection against freezing to death, she hadn't figured out yet. To everyone she looked like just another person, in her street clothes, hunched against the cold. In sandals. Her toes were going to die.

Finally the senshi of the Kraken stepped between two buildings, the chill wind blocked, and took a moment to try and realign herself. The docks were not far up ahead, and she took a deep breath. she knew that energy signature- hopefully, it was from the right person. A year ago, he had tried to kill her, and she had tossed him in the waters. Not long after that, she'd shown him kindness where there hadn't been any due.

And now? Well, it wasn't Ares who would be kicking her a** if she were caught meeting Wolframite. It would be Birhan, and it would turn out just as poorly. And she wouldn't be the only one to pay for their meetings, either. But she'd hoped... maybe they were starting to understand each other, in the silence.

She could see him as she stepped out of her protection, and Scylla made a beeline for him, knowing he would feel her coming, if he hadn't already. "S-So." Her teeth chattered, and she stepped around the bench, rubbing her hands together. "Want to sing Kumbaya?"

A joke she never tired of.

He felt the signature, and waited a moment, and as she raced to him, he felt more and more on edge. It was the fact that he never liked THAT sort of energy coming from behind, and every primal instinct told him to get up, toss his cocoa, and bring out his weapon. Instead, he sat rigid, swallowing down his training and watching as her slender, shivering figure moved around and cracked into a smile her pinkening face didn't seem up to stretching.

The same joke, and he smiled despite how old it was. It was becoming a inside joke, and that alone made him nervous. You didn't have inside jokes with senshi. You didn't have any jokes with senshi that didn't otherwise follow with a stab or a kick.

"I don't think that will warm you up any." He said, not all that one for signing. He had yet to take her up on that offer.

He took the hot cocoa from it's carrier and held it out to her. "I hope you're not lactose intolerant. It has milk. I don't like buying that cheap watered down mess." Nothing but powered and un-filtered water in the end anyways and far too overpriced. Certainly nothing that gave you any nutrition.

He glanced at her saddles and felt worse and worse for picking this spot at their meeting place. "If you want, we can move over to that rooftop. I believe there is a heater on top that warms the building that gives off heat. I never see snow on it." A good sign it was releasing heat outside too, not to mention he always saw steam on it. He just hated for a lady to suffer, especially in this weather in that outfit. "Most of you have skirts. It's surprising you can all fight and not loose your toes." He commented, looking at her legs in only a simple matter one would look at a table leg, and in no way perverted, lingering, or with the glint of desire. Right now, all he wondered was that if she ever considered wearing stockings or some leg warmers. Would sweat pants work? Probably not. They seemed to suffer the same fashion torture as some of the women in the Negaverse in their skimpy attire.

It was good to catch that brief, faint smile, a victory that always made her relax a little inside. Even though she always wanted to run screaming from the darkness she could just... feel. He was stronger now- they both were- and she could almost see it. Did it feel like darkness to him? She never asked. She didn't want to push.

Maybe it was just that she didn't want to know.

"Oh, I don't know," she answered, reaching out for the cocoa and nodding her thanks as the heat burned into her slender fingers, "I think a rousing few moments of sharing body heat and rocking back and forth would get the blood pumping." Gingerly, she held the cup to her lips, taking a sniff, appreciating the smell and the warmth on her face. On the other hand, she didn't want to take a sip. One would think maybe a modicum of trust would have been built up over the last few meetings, but in truth? It was a shy, hesitant truce that they shared. He was the enemy- his aura alone screamed it, that he was powerful- and dangerous. A darkness she'd come to associate with evil, and the doing of bad things. Who was going to say Wolframite hadn't poisoned her drink? Or slipped her some other roofie? Not for your typical roofie purposes of course- on that front, she felt perfectly safe with him.

But her people had tortured him. It had been callous, and cruel, and she hadn't forgiven her own Court yet. Not really. So how could he have forgiven her? A few minutes of kindness didn't make up for the fact that she'd been one of his jailers. She might not have taken part, but she was guilty of the crime that had ended up with too many dead and broken, on both sides.

"I love milk." she said finally, and took a sip. One day she would get what was coming to her, by his hand or another. She wasn't fool enough to plan for a happy ending after what she had seen in the Surroundings. "As for moving to the rooftop, I think that sounds like a capital plan. I've figured out how to cover a lot of my skin, but my toes are meant to eternally suffer, it seems." She wished she could have kept her boots, from when she had been a 'super' senshi. That would have been a warmer winter outfit- though her butt would have been forever frozen.

She didn't sit, but waited instead for her companion to stand.

The mention of rocking bodies and sharing heat earned a pink flush on the officer's face at just the imagery of such a thing, and he forced his throat clear before taking a sip of his hot chocolate just in order not to make an excuse as to what to say to THAT. Even the simple suggestion was enough to get him pink, and now he felt a bit too warm around the collar for the weather. Instead, he let that moment pass in silence, not even able to make eye contact with her.

He watched and took notice at her hesitation to drink, and was somewhat surprised he didn't think of the simple action as anything more dangerous until now. The idea that she would think he would poison him made perfect sense, and he actually was surprised he hadn't thought of it. Getting a sedative or some sort of drug would be easy in the neighborhood he lived in, not that he would know exactly what to ask for (probably just beat some druggie and steal what was on him and hope it worked), and watch her become sluggish with it's effects. Yet, it did not dawn at him at all. In fact, when he got some hot cocoa, he simply though she might like some only because it was so cold out and it was trained in him not only to be kind to women, but to think of others.

He watched, wondering if she would "accidently" drop the cup, outright refuse, or risk -

She drank, and he wondered what that meant. Did she trust him that much? That in itself was unsettling, and he once again was reminded of how dangerous all this was. For any senshi to trust him that far would have his superiors calling for him to USE that trust against her - but she had gained too much in him that day she entered his cell, offering him food, drink, and a bit of rest. She was different, and he was bent on convincing her to leave her fraction.

That or give up the other members for their punishment that was due to them.

Rising, he looked at her shoes, frowning at the sandals that were set upon the snow. "I suppose we all have to suffer the footwear given to use upon our promotions." To which he didn't even bother to glance at the heels he was wearing, finding them all too embarrassing. He gestured to what roof he was going, and started to walk, and waited till he jumped up a few off-shooting metal awnings and up onto the roof till he resumed his discussion, moving to the large box with a surprisingly mellowed hum that radiated the heat that warmed one of the few active stores beside the pier. "How have you been?"

She hadn't meant to make him blush. But that blush let her know she had been a little suggestive in her word choice. Oops. But that was exactly what they did in those cheesy campfire movies that Kayley had always enjoyed torturing her with. And in Girl Scouts, come to think about it. Linked arms, and sang stupid songs.

The chocolate tasted like normal hot cocoa, rich and warm and delicious. No hint of almond (arsenic, wasn't it?) or any other strange flavors. Just cocoa. "Thank you." she said, holding up the cup as they walked. "I... appreciate it." She wouldn't have thought to bring something like this for herself, or anyone else. She just didn't think of creature comforts when she was henshined up. It was work, or business. She glanced at his feet when he commented on suffering through footwear, but didn't smile. Admittedly she liked his shoes, but she was also... a girl. She followed him to the roof, grateful for the lid on the coffee.

Wolframite was kind, in his way, and it made her ache all the more for him. She imagined Chaos was a cruel mistress. But there, That traitorous little voice said. Where is your Queen? Where are your leaders? Chaos has Ares, and the little figurehead the WhiteMooners insist on is dead, or run away.

Scylla sat next to her Negaverse companion, careful to sit on his left so that she wasn't in his blind spot. Or could he see through that scarf? She'd never asked. She was pleasantly surprised to find her seat so warm- and a distraction from her musing on his eye(s). "That's a loaded question." It was the only response she had to his question. How had she been? Where should she start? "The holidays were... distressing." Her mother was a rancid b***h, her best friend had been in mourning, her sister was a t**t, and she had gotten puked on by Giulia and Aidan. The Blood Moon was still in shambles, but she and Ari had worked out a plan to pick up some pieces. "But all in all, quite profitable." she took a sip of her drink then asked, "How about you?"

What was there to talk about? Neither of them were going to give up any particular secrets, each too loyal to their 'side' to do so. Anyway, all of Scylla's secrets were of the Blood Moon. Not the White. She could ask him about how Ares, Leto and Requiem were, but would that be too snide? Too close to pointing out that the people who had hurt him were on his side now, too?

He was grateful that the place he did get his hot drinks from had already been roof-leaping tested - much through trial and error and plenty of stained uniforms. He held his cup, moving over to the heating system and resting nearby, downwind from the steam billowing off of it, but not far enough to not enjoy it's warmth. Who needed a fire when you had factory machinery to borrow heat from? Then again, it was hardly as alluring as a nice fire, but that would really be a bit too much like a campfire and too.....buddy-buddy.

Instead, he sipped his drink and listened the bare bones conversation that they tended to force out, not really giving information, but at least not being cold to each other. When the ball was thrown back into his court, he looked at his cup. The holidays. He had been alone for his first Christmas ever, and despite Halloween and Thanksgiving being only a bit hard, it was Christmas that had been the most depressing. He attempted to make due with a small, plastic tree plugged into the few outlets he had, but it was still...wrong. It was one of the most depressing holidays he had had, and the only gifts he received were from his few friends, most of which were fellow officers. "It was...quiet." He had been happy that it was over in the end, but even the days after had made his stomach twist, worried that the present he sent his mother was the right thing to do after all this time where he had made no contact with her since the day he ran away.

He sipped his cocoa again, but his throat felt tight, and he instead glanced back to Scylla. "You know, I'm sure you'd get a warmer uniform if you just decided to change sides. One with possibly many layers or a nice jacket." Wolframite himself was in layers himself, and was one of the most modestly dressed in their fraction, aside from Zink who beat him with his cloak and mask, showing less skin that Wolframite. One Upper.

Quiet. The senshi grinned at her companion's words, not understanding the meaning behind his answer any more than he would understand her own. But it was an answer, and conversation; She relished the fact that it was one more moment of a tenuous alliance. Admittedly these moments of peace meant that she wasn't out beating up on the monsters, but sometimes she needed nights like this.

The peaceful silence lasted only a moment more, until her companion mentioned changing sides. She knew what he meant, of course. Wolframite hadn't hidden the fact that he wanted her on the side of the Negaverse.

In a sick way, it was flattering. To have her skills being acknowledged, and to have a... a friend?... on the other side of the fence. There might be Leto, might be Ares, were she ever to lose her way and turn to Chaos for her answers. Scylla's throat swelled up, and she choked back her cocoa, trying to think of an answer. As she set her cup down on the heater, her hands were visibly shaking.

There wasn't an answer.

Minutes ticked by in silence before she finally said "But my uniform is so nice for summer weather." It was a childish, redundant answer, one that didn't suit the serious way he had carefully approached the topic. She breathed in, then out, pretending she didn't hear the shake in her breath. Pretending that she hadn't heard the huskiness in her voice, and pretending that it wasn't going to still be there when she next spoke.

"Why do you fight, Wolf?" She knew her own motivations. Knew her own 'side' of the story. But how often did she get the chance to sit down with a Negaverse agent and hear their side? Lina didn't rightfully count, anymore... and Jada wasn't comfortable with asking Audrey- no, Daphne, now- why she had found the Negaverse rewarding enough to become a General.

Tell me about the dark side, and all the cookies.

Maybe then she would understand the lure of Chaos?

He looked at her a moment before he decided he might want to get a bit more comfortable. Reaching out, he tested the heating unite and noticed it was warm, not burning hot, but was being chilled enough from the wind to rest against. For that reason, he did so, and adjusted his grip on his cup. "That's a rather loaded question all of a sudden. Do you mean why I started to fight or why I fight now?" She hadn't been specific, and he pointed out there was a huge difference. Either way, he was prepared to answer it as he choose needed addressing.

"We don't have cats that awaken us. We are given a choice if we want to fight, and I choose to become a Negaverser." It was such a strong memory, the night Charonite discovered him outside Amityville late at night, back when he was still practicing for track team, back when he only just started to hear the rumors of strange people causing trouble and wearing silly outfits. Back before he even knew he could be something more, something stronger....and before he had ever seen a death.

Then again, it wasn't like he had any other options. It was that or....no. To this day, he still felt Charonite's threat would have been true. That 'or else' would have happened. Still, he didn't refuse.

"I started to protect my world, and those around me who needed protecting. When I got a stronger sense of it,, this world and place we find ourselves in, that purpose only grew stronger. I fight for the people I now call my family, those who stuck with me through everything, when life and death tested their loyalties, and through all the effort we have worked hard to overcome. I fight for them, I fight for myself, I fight for people who think I'm some troublemaker causing problems for this city, and even if you think we're the worst, I fight for you too, in hopes that you just change your mind and join us. For the others, I fight against them. I fight because I don't want everyone and everything I care about to be ruined, and I fight because I'm needed." Most of all, he fought because he was in a group that wanted and needed him, that knew that despite his slender frame and looks, he could fight and protect them. He fought for those injustices that were placed upon people he deeply cared about. "Sounds rather dramatic when I string it all along like that, but I'm not good with words." Aree was the one that gave speeches. He just followed behind, happy to be of service.

"I also fight for revenge." He said, glancing up at her. "There are many people I want to see dead." He said this in a simple tone, sure of that very fact, and took a sip from his paper cup.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 08, 2012 10:09 am

Scylla felt her lips twitch when her the words that she had given in response to his question spilled from Wolframite's lips in response to her own. Loaded questions always seemed to be the order of the day, as well as stilted, carefully censored conversation. He was fighting for many of the same things she was. It didn't add up that an inherently good person should be on the side of Chaos. And then words she had heard in the temple of Elysion sprang to mind.

“You think that your enemy is the entity known as the Negaverse and you are correct. But inside that organization, deeper than any of them even realize, is an evil so great it has always pervaded our planet.” ... The voice named it in a reverent, if hateful, whisper. ”Metallia.”

The senshi shivered, thoughtful. She wanted to open her mouth, to ask why he fought against the senshi- they all wanted to protect the planet, didn't they? Instead, she took another sip of her cocoa and arranged her thoughts.

Until he mentioned revenge. At his calm, collected statement her eyes flew to his, watching him take a sip of his drink as something froze to a lump in her stomach. "Well." her voice shook. "You know where you can find Ares. Leto. Requiem." A moment more of silence. "And me." For a moment she thought she was going to vomit.

Instead, she said shakily. "And what do you think the senshi are fighting for, Wolf? The ones not corru- not on your side of the fence."

The mention of the other BMC, now the DMC, caused his body to go rigid, and he threw Scylla a look that said she had crossed a line that made it very hard for him not to kick her off the roof then and there. Instead, he stood there, his cup squeezed a bit too firmly and crinkling under his hold, restraining himself in every way from flying off the handle - as he was prone to do these days and especially when anyone mentioned the DMC. "I would if I could." He said through clenched teeth, trying his hardest not to throw the hot coca in her face. "...but I was reminded that would make me a traitor." A traitor. Even now it BURNED in him to think that seeking justice against Ares and the members of the DMC was considered tyranny against his fraction. To think that they could even allow a group that killed their own - without punishment of any sort - was beyond him, and his body shook in response to it. If it wasn't for those chambers, for what he had seen and at the great loss of his own powers, he would strike them down with GLEE!

Instead, his hands were tied, and he was left to fume miserably in respectful silence. "... don't ever mention them to me." He said, looking up at her. It was a clear statement that if they were to continue this fragile relationship between them, that something as heavy as that topic could not be mentioned in his presence.

He set his coca down to prevent him from throwing it childishly, and crossed his arms instead, curling his hands to grip his ribs and dig into the fabric of his uniform. "I've already asked the senshi what they fight for. They also want to protect the planet, and feel displaced because they, for whatever reason, have ruined planets. As if that is our fault. Instead of just allowing themselves to realize we're the guardians of this planet, they feel they are the guardians instead and fight against us. They feel entitled because they were born here like us, yet they also acknowledge that they have their own planets. I see it as very greedy, especially considering some of them want to bring their Princess back to take the planet over again."

He knew he was opening a discussing that he was already exhausted with. He spoke with enough senshi trying to convince him he didn't know anything, but he had seen ENOUGH with his own eyes.

"What do you fight for?" He asked, deciding to toss it back to her.

He stiffened, a green eye casting a withering look in her direction, and Scylla almost cowered back at the sheer hate of it. Almost. it was actually a surprise to her that she didn't, that she instead stiffened and kept her face carefully neutral. It simply wouldn't do to let him think she was afraid, even if she were. She hadn't come here to fight with him, at least not with more than words.

Pride as a cloak, the senshi of the Kraken took a careful sip of her drink, ignoring the way Wolframite's own was slowly bending in his grip. So, the DMC were considered allies enough of the Negaverse to have it considered betrayal should he take action against them? That was a frightening thought, Tanzanite and Ares side-by-side on a battlefield.

"The Court will deal with them, if possible." She said it softly, a whisper. It was the only promise she could give him- she didn't know what they could, or would, do to bring down the Dark Moon Court. She didn't know what the Blood Moon really had left to fight the Dark Moon with. Their bonds were tenuous, creaking. She might be lying to him, but it was a lie she wanted to believe in.

The Blood Moon would save those they could, but would not spare them if they were unable to be saved. It was what Scylla prayed for.

As he asked what she fought for, she gave a weary smile. "I was born here, in 1992. My mother is human, my father is human, my sisters and brothers are human... I am human, just special. In another life, another girl failed to stop the darkness and it killed her and everyone she loved. It destroyed everything green and polluted the water, and when there was nothing left, it moved on. Now, this is the only place left for the senshi to come. Everything has already been eaten. We don't want to fail."

She clenched her fist, tilted back her head to look at the sky. "I fight for love." she said finally, simply. "Even if Scylla was habitable again, everything I love is here." She tilted her head at him, considering. "i'll take you sometime, if you want."

The words and decision surprised her.

"Just remember, if you decide to try and hurt me because there wouldn't be any witnesses on my homeworld? If I die, the magic is gone and you'll choke out in a vast nothing. So wait until I bring you home." she laughed dryly, humorlessly.

He listened, much as she had for his reasons, and the explanation that he had heard so many senshi he had questioned before answer. That the senshi were human, born on Earth just like them, and claimed ownership to this planet just like them. HOWEVER, they all set aside the idea that they also came from other planets. That they were "special" and therefor did not belong here in the end. Some mentioned they could not go back, but not why. Others felt no reason to - or so he felt. Scylla was telling him that the planets were ruined and therefor unable to return to.

It seemed they could.

Seeing as he only just been introduced to the idea of senshi in space recently, he didn't know how far their reach went. Tanzanite had mentioned one senshi, broken into pieces, and the one that had helped him heal. Aklaid had somehow, in her own way, given her planet to them. Did that mean even ruined planets could be taken, and if he could go to one, what reward could he take if he could offer a planet to his side?

How did they get there, and why didn't they STAY here?

"I've seen a wasteland in ruin here on this planet, devoid of life. I do not want to see that happen." He stated, thinking back to the Rift. A place on Earth were the rivers were deadly, the creatures transformed from people to monsters, and where castles of their past crumbled and sat in shadow. Was this how the other planets were and if so, did that mean there was a treat to all the planets, Earth included?

"How do I know this isn't a trap? That I go with you, and you leave me on this planet of yours to either be attacked by other senshi or to die alone on some place in space?" He had reason to be on guard. It was her team that had ambushed his team and kept him hidden away to suffer where no one could reach him. Was he stupid enough to make the same mistake? Not likely.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 11, 2012 5:53 pm

"I guess you don't know it's a trap." Scylla said finally, thoughtful. "I can understand your suspicions, really. I most likely wouldn't trust you, if you offered me the same chance." Definitely not. Why should he trust her? For that matter, why should she even give him safe passage? The enemy was still the enemy, even when he was your almost-friend, wasn't he? Her world was a skeleton, beautiful and cold. Scylla was nothing like what it had been a thousand years before. It was a grave. Her memories showed it being full of water, and life that was hard but fulfilling. Andromache had loved her people so much that she had allowed herself to lose so much that she held dear- her husband, her son, her gender, her life. And Jada could see the results of her sacrifice: A world that had still been destroyed and an unmarked grave.

The short senshi leaned her back against the warm metal behind herself and Wolframite, staring down at the cooling hot chocolate in her hands. "Next time will be my treat." she said finally, taking another sip of the beverage. Such a little thing, yet such a kind action. If all of the enemy was like Wolframite, she wouldn't sure she'd be able to fight them all. She hadn't seen the same cruelty in him she'd seen in the core of his organization. He had been nothing but considerate and courteous, considering how ineffective she had been at preventing 'her' people from torturing him and killing some of his companions.

And when he spoke the words, she could almost believe him when he said that he didn't want to see the world destroyed.

She stared down at her feet, toes pale and almost bloodless from cold. It was because she owed him, Scylla told herself. It was because it was cold, and she was feeling lazy and half-frozen. That was why she wasn't doing what she should be, and picking a fight with him. It wasn't because he was a good person, because he wasn't. And it certainly wasn't because she respected him. Because she didn't. She couldn;t,

He watched her hold her coffee and agree that she wouldn't have trusted him in the end, but he took a moment to step back. "I think you're lying. You're here, in the cold, to talk to me. You're drinking the drink I brought to you, even though I could tell you didn't want to. I could have easily found something deadly in there to kill you, or even something to make you pass out and then use you as bait or set an example for the others. I could have cut off your head and taped it, and sent that to the senshi to startle them. Yet, you drank it and risked your life. You're too smart not to notice that when you held that cup. You trusted me, even though I have done nothing to show that I should be trusted." He paused, breathing out and watching his breath run away from him.

"You risked your own life and reputation with the senshi when you fed us and allowed me to sleep in that cell. You didn't owe us anything." Maybe she felt bad, but that was a good thing. She had morales and a straight compass to point her to the right way. If he wanted her on their side, he should extend that same level of trust. "I'll go with you to your planet, if you are offering. See what this is all about."

He blew on his hands to keep them warm, and then glance down at her feet. "You don't get frosbite when you go out, do you? I suppose your uniform has a bit of magic to it as well." He'd note that for later. It also was a nice way to distract himself from the fact he was nervous about his actions. Never again did he want to go in that chamber, but he could justify this with the fact he was learning about the senshi. However, he wondered if that would keep him from loosing it all.
