The girl sighed heavily and leaned forward on the bench, her head resting on both palms. It wasn't too often someone saw her pout like this. Who could blame her? Noharu had never been angry with her before.
Sure, she'd told her not to make any more machines in the basement (particularly ones that shot lasers or created other forms of havoc), but how was she to know her cousins had been messing with it? If they hadn't, she was positive it would've worked fine!
As mentioned before, despite her constant attitude toward her sister, Noharu had never displayed any anger at Karoko. Thus, she didn't know how to react or what to do about this situation. The first solution that came to mind: Go to the park.
Bad idea. Snow. She hated snow.
But she hadn't her mother being angry with her more, so hadn't thought twice about brushing the white evil off the wooden bench and plopping down. "This is so troublesome..."

"You okay?"
Before the girl stood a young, lanky boy, bearing a cup of what seemed to be hot cocoa that he was sipping at. His bright blue eyes were filled with concern, and then a look of recognition sparked in them before he got his response. "Karoko?!" She sure looked different.. Older. Yeah, that was it. Definately older. And no longer in a frilly dress.
Eva smiled warmly, his ears wriggling about. "It's nice to see you." He was pleased to show her that he could talk now, as well, although his voice always sounded somewhat weak and soft. He was still learning how to train it right.. He payed no heed to the snow now, simply moving to sit at the bench beside her. "What'cha doin' out in the park all alone?" Oh yeah, she looked kind of upset too... Hm.. Worry came back.

I should probably listen from now on... Karoko thought idlely. I guess it wasn't fair of me to assume I could get away with something just because she's never yelled at me before...
And then someone was talking. She didn't catch what they said at first. It was probably easy to tell looking at their eyes, but Karoko wouldn't know. If there was one thing she hated, aside from Noharu yelling at her and being stuck in the cold at some mostly-deserted park, it was eye contact.
Because she'd never heard him speak, it was understandable the voice wasn't one she would recognize. It was a few seconds before she finally caught on to who was talking to her. "Oh, y-yeah, nice to see," she stuttered, surprised.
Instead of answering his question, she spat out her own. "When did you start talking?"

The boy smiled, "Tea had a competition and I started talking there. And then after that..." He motioned at himself, "I grew!" That was an understatement. He had once been the shortest of all he knew, and now he was the tallest of his freshly-grown children friends. "It's nice to be talking now." He pulled his knees up, resting his sneaker-clad feet on the bench and then sipping at his hot cocoa.
"How're you?" He asked finally, completely forgetting about his earlier question, his tail dragging back and forth through the snow. "You look kinda sad.. You okay?" His head tilted, one ear cocking to the side. He was concerned- she looked sad and was sitting very much alone in the park.

"Oh..." Suddenly, she felt even worse, and she didn't really know why. She also probably didn't realize she was frowning again.
He had started talking over something like that? Why wouldn't he speak for her? But then, she'd never prodded him to, had she? When she realized what the problem was, she mentally scolded herself. Fact of the matter, Eva was talking now, so she should be happy for that!
"I'm glad," she said, offering her best smile. With his question it faded away quickly. "Well..." She turned the direction opposite of him and hung her head a little. "My mother is very angry with me, so..."
Did she sound like one of those 'dork' things saying something like that? Her cousin always told her she was too worried about if Noharu was on good terms with her or not...

Eva was the perfect person to be telling such things- he hated being scolded, and especially hated having Freize upset with him.. He leaned forward a bit, head tilted as if he were trying to look around her at her face, hair falling forward into his eyes a bit, "Ohh.." An ear flickered slightly.
"Is she reeeal mad?" Now that was the question. He always had his Da fuming at him for his careless nature- well, moreso because of what he DID because of his careless nature. He held out his cup of cocoa as if offering her a sip. He was much too young to be caring about that whole 'sharing of the same cup' thing, it was just a cup. Let whoever wanted to drink out of it drink out of it. Besides, he just wanted to help his friend feel better.
"Maybe you can make her something to try and make up for it?"

Germs were never a worry of Karoko's either. If they had been, she wouldn't always have oil or dirt all over her clothes. What did you expect would happen working on machines all day? The reason she waved a hand--dismissing the offer--was simply because she'd never developed a taste for anything but fruit.
Her ears were lower than before when she shifted back over and now stared at the ground infront of them both. Her expression looked like that of someone who was both devestated and thinking much too hard.
"I don't know," she said thoughtfully. "She doesn't really...like anything."

The boy frowned slightly, tail idly tapping the ground beneath them. "Oh, yeah..?" He pulled back his cup, glancing down into the drink thoughtfully. "Hmm.." The girl was lucky she had decided not to drink from it, as this wasn ot regular hot cocoa, but a drink that had been so fiercly manipulated to fit Eva's tastes that it wrinkled the noses of whoever else tried it. Hey, he thought it was pretty swell. It tasted like chocolate and fruit, along with a little bit of vegetables and leaves. Mm.
He brightened after awhile, "She has to like -something-! Everyone likes something. Even if it is a li'l wierd." He clacked his shoes together slightly, "I'm sure of it! She has'ta like somethin'."
Sip.

"She likes...to not like things." Karoko sighed hopelessly. This wasn't going to get anywhere. Think, think. What did Noharu like...?
Well, she liked her, but not at the moment. What else? She could remember seeing her read newspapers a lot, but what could they do with that? Her eyes trailed to the cup Eva held, nose wrinkling back. ...Wait!
"Lemon tea!" the bat cried suddenly, nearly falling off the bench at her discover. Her mother had never mentioned it before, but she was always drinking it when she read the newspaper!

Eva took to picking at the laces of his new shoes, looking down at them disdainfully. He much rather would be running about in bare feet rather than in these restricting shoes. They were even worse than the flippy-floppy things! How positively dreadful. One ear twitched as the bat proclaimed her discovery, the 'roo's head jolting up and his wide blue eyes peering at her curiously from beneath the sagging rim of his hat, "Eh?"
He shifted to help and keep her from falling over, tail thumping idly on the floor, "Lemon tea?" His face lit up with a smile, "Perfect! We can make her this 'lemon tea' stuff, an' maybe she can feel lots better an' won't be mad anymores!" Brilliant idea!

"Yeah!" Karoko agreed with enthusiasm. In the blink of an eye, that was gone.
She sank back down onto the bench and again sighed, more distressed-sounding than before. "But, I have no idea how to make stuff like that." Clocks? Sure. Machines? Sure. Destruction rays she kept hidden in the basement with a cloaking device? Sure.
But when it came to cooking or even making tea, apparently, the answer would be a sure fire 'no'. What was a bat to do?

Those big blue eyes filled with curiousity as he enthusiasm ebbed away, ears wriggling, "Eh...?" Hm... He looked down to his beverage, understanding her dilemma now. He had absolutely no idea how to make it either- perhaps he should have thought about that sooner... He bit his lip as he sank into a semi-furtive state of thought..
And then he set his strange cocoa drink to the side, moving to his feet and standing before the girl. "Well, how hard can it be?" He offered a hand as if offering to help her up, smile unwavering. "I'm sure we can do it!" He nodded a bit after saying so, his hat drooping forward into his eyes slightly.
Hey, he knew how to read right? That was a start!

Karoko gazed at his hand thoughtfully. She finally nodded her head, accepted the help up and smiled again. For a second, she almost tightened her fist and pumped her hand into the air like she'd seen people do in all those movies her cousin watched.
"Alright then! But...where do we start?"

Eva's ears went up, blue eyes scanning the area as if an answer would magically pop up before him. "Hmmm..." Where do they start? Another thing he hadn't thought of first. He really needed to do more thinking when he came to decisions, although he didn't see that quite yet. He quickly attained an answer to her question, bright eyes turning back to his friend, "Well, where can we find some'a this lemon tea stuff? You got any at your house?... Or... Maybe I got some at mine, but I don' think so." He hesitated, "We could get some at the store, but I don't got any money."
It had taken a long time for Freize to get through to the boy what the money system was, and it looks like he was finally catching on.
