A tide of trolls poured back into the stadium, refreshed, rested, and ready to cheer on whoever was their personal favourite. Already the more entrepreneurial trolls had started small betting booths, and large amounts of money was changing hands. More than a few trolls were now cheering with the nervous, glassy faces of someone who has put down rather more than they should have. It was subtle, but the noise was slightly more urgent now.

The queen was again stationed in her box, idly lounging in her chair. She spun the microphone around by its cord a few times, then caught it as it swung up, and as her eyes picked up the two figures entering the arena.

"Weeeelcome back to the second rounds, where the winners of the previous battles will duke it out for yourrrrrr entertainment! First off we have greenblood Pyyyruet Tropos with herrr fancy shooting versus blueblood Sempuuuuuur Livora fighting wiiith some serious knives!"

Trolls who are watching the battle can post in this thread. While battles are posted ooc all at the same time, ic battles are one after the other. If your troll is in another battle, they can still post as a spectator.

Battlers please post using the shout post style, spectators please post using the whisper post style.

Battlers, remember to roll first, then edit to write your post. Please write at least three sentences each post!

Pyruet flexed her fingers as she entered the arena, slowly curling them into a fist, her knuckles cracking. She was up against the blueblood who liked making himself feel big by shoving around trolls weaker than him. His scars said he wasn't new to combat, his posture, that he was unshakably confident. The short bit she'd managed to speak to him before the matches started, he'd displayed nothing but restrained aggression.

She was gonna make him cry.

She continued her slow, measured walk towards him as Regina called out their entries, smirking slightly as the empress mentioned her revolvers. No, she wasn't even going to be drawing her weapons for this fight; that'd indicate she was fighting an equal. She was going to manhandle him like he'd done to Sarcel, make him realize he wasn't nearly as impressive as he thought.

She approached him, showing no sign of hostility--not until she was within a few feet of him. As soon as she was at a range where she could, she lunged forward, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt with her left hand, yanking him towards her. She reared back with her right, and sank her fist into his face as hard as she could manage. No pulled punches, not this round. If he was man enough to rough up a little girl who wouldn't fight back, he was man enough to get beaten in the face until he went blind. Actually, that'd probably count as maiming, but she'd see how close she could cut it.

Oh. So he wouldn't be fighting another highblood. This came both as a relief and a disappointment to Sempur, quickly replaced by anticipation at the sight of his opponent. The greenblood he had met not too long ago, he liked her. She was respectable, if not a bit too opinionated for her caste. Even then, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. So long as she didn't question him. Yes, he could even see them as associates—

Then Sempur realized he was thinking of his opponent as a comrade and quickly cut that s**t out. Apparently, he still wasn't completely recovered from that blow to the head from the last battle.

Steeling himself, trying to get into the fighting mindset seriously now, Sempur stared back at his opponent. Because that's what she was! And this time, he was very keenly aware of the fact that their glorious leader was watching. Beating this greenblood might not bring as much glory as beating a superior, but at the very least Sempur had a feeling she would put up a good fight. He did not move as the conspicuously unarmed Pyruet approached, merely narrowing his eyes, wondering what she was up to. Did she wish to speak to him, then? Nonsense, the best way to get to know a troll was through a fight, she was gettting it all wrong!

His assumption of lengthy pre-battle monologues was shattered along with his nose as Pyruet viciously decked him, spilling first blood. God dammit. He wasn't even enraged, not at first, completely dumbstruck by that move, literally and otherwise. Yeah, he was getting to know Pyruet, alright. She could hit. Pain didn't usually deter Sempur, but maybe that retaliatory punch he threw was a bit underwhelming, dazed as he was. He could taste his own beloved blood now, cue indignant rage.

Pyre readied herself for her opponent's retaliation, drawing her fists up to her face like a boxer, prepared to put some effort into avoiding those trench knives. Except Sempur didn't even draw his blades and he threw some crooked half-assed punch that wasn't even worth dodging, a pretty sharp contrast to the fight she'd seen him put up in the first round. What the actual hell, why did none of her opponents fight her seriously? She caught his punch and grabbed his wrist, being quite a bit more than firm with him, her disgust with her apparently incompetent foes compounding her fury towards Sempur. "Draw your weapon, and attack like you're worth the uniform you're tarnishing. I'm not going to tell you twice." she practically growled at him, the hypocrisy of making that demand while unarmed lost on her.

She wasn't going to ease up just because he'd made the stupid mistake of not being prepared for battle in a damned tournament. Still gripping his wrist, she rotated towards him, and quickly elbowed him in his already-broken nose. She didn't put her weight into it, but it wasn't quite a love-tap either. She released his arm and quickly took a step back, keeping close enough that she could close the distance between them easily, but far enough away that she wouldn't get shanked in the stomach without having a chance to stop it.

Sempur's eyes were wide, wild with anger and maybe a little pain as he stared Pyruet down, raggedly struggling to breath through that, yep, most certainly broken nose. He simply froze and bared bloodstained teeth at her, unable to move when she grasped his wrist, not because she was a superior or because he was afraid, nowhere near either! but because he was so utterly repulsed and impressed. What would you call that, repressed?

Wait, no.

Point was, the gall of this greenblood, to speak to him the way he, well, spoke to others, was astounding. He had liked her for her brashness before, but now, Sempur decided he hated her. Hated her for being too damn good, too damn close to perfect.

Witty comebacks were never Sempur's forte, especially not in the middle of a fight, especially not when he could still taste the blood good god it just didn't stop. But if he could make some sort of retort, it'd be that he would not draw because his beloved knives were too good for her, and if anyone was tarnishing the uniform she was, and also she didn't need to worry about repeating herself in fact they'd all be better off if she had never opened her mouth in the first place! Yeah, he totally would have said all that if he could have condensed it into a cool one-liner and also if he didn't just get an elbow to the face ******** jerked back, gasping, hating not that he was for once so keenly aware of pain, but that this disobedient greenblood was the one causing it. No sweet comebacks here, just a guttural roar of anger as he lunged blindly at her, obviously mad in more than just the usual sense.

((it's ok brah my posts are always bad and i don't even have the excuse of writing ridiculously early!!!! QQQQQQ))

Pyruet stared at Sempur as she stepped back. There was something different in the way he was glaring at her, something colder. He'd stopped looking at her as just some inferior, and started looking at her as a target. He was coming after her with killing intent, which might have actually been scary if he were capable of killing her with his bare hands, or if he wasn't half-blinded by rage, or if he wasn't sort of drowning in his own blood. As it was, it was just sort of...pathetic.

She bent her knees slightly as he charged, grinding her feet into the floor, steadying herself. She shoved an open palm into his lower chest, stopping the lunge cold. She immediately shifted her palm to his shoulder, grabbing his opposite arm with her other hand, and twisted her body, throwing him to the ground like a steer wrestler.

"Get up." Pyre's voice was dripping with contempt as she glowered down at him, the sentence just as much a dare as it was a command. She wasn't going to hit him while he was down, wasn't going to sink to his level and let her anger cloud her judgment. She was going to prove she was better than him in every sense she could manage, make him understand, despite his confidence, exactly how inferior he was. And she was going to enjoy it.

And just like that, Sempur was seeing stars. More literally in this case, on his back all bloody and stunned, staring up at the sky and wondering if it was possible he made a mistake somewhere. But he never made mistakes so what the hell was happening? Pyruet's voice above him broke him out of his dazed thoughts—her voice was above him and as spiteful as Sempur was, even if his first immature instinct was to go against her command and not get up just because she said so, even he wasn't that dumb and he sure as hell wasn't going to stand for that!

But as it was, it looked like Sempur couldn't stand for much now, his usual perfect posture bent like a cornered animal, breaths coming ragged and gurgling with blood so much blood all his own he wanted to see her blood for a change even though he knew it was that disgusting green that meant nothing so why was it everything to him? Still he did not draw his knives, throwing a desperate punch, lashing out without thought just wanting to hurt her because it was all he could ever think to do. It had never failed him before, what had changed, why now?

He was getting faster. She didn't know if it was because he was getting into a groove, or if it was just desperation kicking him into gear, but he'd landed his first hit, her cheekbone stinging. It wasn't particularly strong, it'd barely bruise, but the fact remained that she didn't--couldn't--counter it, and she hated that. Hated that he'd outperformed her, if only once, hated that he'd kept her from a perfect victory.

Fangs bared, but rage held back, she lunged at him, one hand grabbing his throat, the other grasping his shoulder. She attempted to force him downward while simultaneously bringing her leg up, kneeing him in his side as viciously as she could manage. She quickly released his throat, no maiming after all, and shoved him backwards with the hand she had on his shoulder. He looked like hell, nose bleeding excessively, out of breath, hunched over like a ******** animal. It was a beautiful sight, entirely more satisfying than it should be. Pyruet smiled at him in spite of herself--a gleeful smile, but a cruel one.

Minist sighed. Here she had been hoping for an interesting fight. Instead she got a curb stomp battle. She rubbed some of the drying blood off of her lip and gazed at the yellow flakes on her finger. They were more interesting than this battle. Two militaristic trolls being pinned together should have been a fight to keep her on the edge of her seat and instead she was leaning back and pouting. The blueblood had her support at first because he had beaten that curly haired, freckled faced purpleblood, now she was just disgusted. This was almost as bad as watching that redblood uselessly swinging his shovel. If anyone felt more disgust right now it had to be that greenblood who was dealing blows without even bothering to use her weapon.

He never showed up.

At least she had the decency to show up to anything he was important or a part off, because she was nice like that. Nope, whatever, the indignant rage and irritation was back already.

But, it didn't really matter now. Know why? Because he was getting his just desserts.

It was sort of funny really. Here, she thought, knew, was certain that he would be advancing, beating whoever he was against into submission. She had no idea who he was going to be fighting, but it didn't matter. Even for being so mad at the blueblood superior, she had complete faith in him; well, up until now.

Pyruet Tropos. Not a name she was going to forget anytime soon. That was pretty cool; she was terrible with names, terrible. She'd met a blueblood earlier; Zef... Zef somthing or other, Zeffer? She thought the guy was sort of phony, but everyone was in some way.

That was all irrelevant, though. She'd come to spectate on good 'ol Sempur Livora, Sir, Scars, whatever other names the guy probably had. She looked up to the guy; she really did, even if he was probably the biggest threat to her existence thus far.

And goddammit, excuse her for saying it- she really had to place to even say it, really she didn't- but this was just... just... pathetic.

He was getting completely battered by the greenblood- Pryuet -and he had hardly even gotten a hit in on the girl.

She'd never been filled with such admiration, really. There was a troll who had enough defiance to stand up to him, and then back up those words with force, and good god was she backing up those words.

Sir was losing.

Forget it, he needed the beating. Sir had to learn that he wasn't ******** perfect, because no one is, and he surely wasn't. She was rooting for the greenblood, if even only mentally.

Sorry, Sir.

Finally, a hit! He had actually been able to hit her. Not normally something Sempur had to celebrate, but he'd take it. Sadly, the moment didn't last long. Pyruet's moves were practiced, swift, a stark contrast to Sempur's more simple brute-forcing, and he was doubled over wheezing before he could even really savor it. He wasn't sure what was worse then, the goddamn pain in his side or the fact that she had been able to grab his throat. Terrible form, she had him then, could have hurt him so much worse, not that he would have given in, never, it just—

Stooped over in pain, painted blue for all to see, Sempur stared back at Pyruet's smile and decided that was the worst thing of all. He felt a surge of rage, not that he needed any more motivation to want to punch her teeth out, so worn down (even if he would never admit it) but unwilling to accept the fact that maybe he was losing, and pretty badly too. He charged again, wanting to grab her just as she did, pull her in and really lay one down. A punch, that is, c'mon now.

He'd caught her.

He'd grabbed her by the front of her shirt, and swung his fist--no less desperate than before, but considerably better aimed, and exponentially stronger. She felt her skin split as his punch connection squarely with her mouth, her underbite causing her canines to tear into her lip. She almost yelped in pain, but managed to choke it back. No, she wasn't going to give him the satisfaction, the fact that he'd drawn blood was bad enough, she wasn't going to display the pain she was feeling, wasn't going to let him know she was in anything but optimal condition. Not past the lashing out at him that wasn't even aimed properly, anyway, ugh.

She ran her tongue across her upper lip, making some vain attempt at cleaning up the still-flowing blood, never breaking eye contact with him, never changing her expression from that defiant fury, though the cold joy had faded pretty significantly. So he'd landed a hit. So yeah, it had sorta shredded her lip. But she was still much better off than he was, her stoniness and posture making the gap look even wider. "...Was that your best?" Yes. Yes, that was good, she'd saved as much face as one could save after being decked in the teeth and flailing like an idiot.

Had he been capable of smiling, Sempur would have done so, infuriatingly smug as he finally saw some blood. Not that he had felt thrashed before, but this, this was nice. He was back in his element, the sight of that inferior green reassuring him that, sure OK maybe this fight started off sort of in Pyruet's favor a bit kinda, but there was no way he could lose. A blueblood could not lose to a greenblood, that's just not how things went!

Nevermind that Sempur was much, much worse off, as clearly illustrated by the stab of pain he now felt, attempting to wrinkle his broken nose in disgust at her. Whoops that was dumb! He hissed in pain but stared unflinchingly back, ignoring the probably worrisome clicking sound his mangled nose made. All the better to psyche her out with, if that was her game, and she certainly wasn't getting to him now. "You don't deserve my best."

Oh snap who was savin' face with big talk now! Just to drive the insult home, Sempur reeled his hand back, then cracked it across Pyruet's cheek in one swift motion, nevermind he always thought his beautifully scarred hands were his best feature—the irony was totally lost on him.

He met her ice-cold demeanor, her probably impeccable facade, with a failed display of scorn that actually resulted in furthering his pain. She would have laughed if she weren't too busy being an unfeeling badass. It was almost pitiful, except Pyruet was far past the point of being capable of feeling pity for this primordial sack of s**t. No, what she felt was disgust. Disgust and hatred. Disgust and hatred and maybe a little bit of amusement but mostly the first two.

He looked like he was barely even standing. His nose was all but obliterated. His face looked as though all of the blood in his body was trying to escape through it. And he was trying to act like he was still holding back? His taunt might have actually broken her front, might have caused her to laugh in his face, if it wasn't immediately followed by him slapping her like she was his b***h.

...Fury.

Fury. White-hot all-consuming wrath destroying rational thought, vision blurring, pain evaporating, her sole guide instinct. She smashed her fist into his stomach, recoiling just long enough to ram her hand into his neck, clutching his throat for the second time in one fight. She pounced forward, forcing his upper body backwards, toppling his balance for the purpose of slamming him into the concrete floor as hard as she could.

She simply stared down at him for a moment before crouching beside him. "You're a disgrace." No attempts at being witty. No effort invested in getting under his skin. A flat statement, infused with as much repulsion and derision as three words could possibly contain. She curled her lip at him, her blind rage starting to subside. "I don't recommend ******** with those too timid to put you in your place anymore, pathetic."

She spat on his face.

It was over, as was obvious to everyone except maybe Sempur. Pyre slowly stood back up, staring expectantly at the drone in charge of ending the matches. Her shoulders were squared, her posture perfect, expression cold as ever. Like nothing had happened.

Sempur probably should have expected that reaction. Still, it was nice getting that last insulting hit in, obviously had its intended effect! What was less nice was ending up on the ground again, completely winded from that gut punch and struggling to get up. Be he had to, had to keep fighting and win this, totally unwilling to accept defeat. Sempur glared at her, still challenging, forget that his vision was fading! He would still fight, and he tried to ignore Pyruet's words, so faraway sounding even though she was right there. Nothing she said mattered anyway, it was all just useless greenblood drivel.

And yet he listened. Sempur felt a different sort of anger now, an incredulous sort of anger, his thoughts immediately going back to their first meeting there in line, when she had questioned him. Was that was this was about? Pathetic? Sempur felt disgusted that he had ever respected this weakling; she had no idea what she was talking about and certainly he would not be taking that recommendation, thanks. He would not waste words on Pyruet—honestly if you asked him she was wasting time now not just decking him though he supposed he had to admire that honor no wait he was done admiring!—forgetting he had decided not to reply, Sempur opened his mouth to speak, though he didn't get much out.

She had, indeed, spat on his face. And for the moment, his rage was gone, completely swept away and replaced with shock. Did she think she was better than him? OK moment over the wrath was back, that was good, the familiar anger drove him and slowly, shakily, Sempur picked himself up as his mind reeled with all that he would do to her, how much he would make her bleed, remind her of her place so that she never so much as thought to defy him again.

He stood, maybe not as steadily as Pyruet, but he was up all the same. In fact, surely this swaying could only help! He'd be quicker in dodging this time, not that the fight had ever really ended. Panting, Sempur lifted his fists, ready to bellow a challenge—when he suddenly pitched forward, nose cracking a-goddamn-gain as he landed face-first, out cold.
