Whoa.. longer legs really worked when you were trying to get somewhere fast. Just ask Raka. He had been running about all day chasing the gazelle and zebra and such. It really was quite fun. But of course he never actually caught them. Or ate them. He didn't eat meat.... well, he ate insects, if that even counted as meat.

Nonetheless, his longer legs served well when chasing after the swift bugs and such. It wasn't always easy to fill up his stomach with insects and such. In fact, he was beginning to wonder whether he should start eating real meat now that he was older and needed more food to sustain him. As a pup, it really hadn't been much of a problem. But now...

Shaking his head, Raka tried not to think about it. The slaughter of innocent animals... it just wasn't something he was interested in. So instead he occupied himself chasing random creatures around.

This way... that way... and really he just wandered about the land aimlessly, a wandering soul that had no real purpose...

Miremba found herself resting in the heavy sunlight, her eyes lidded in a lazy manor as soft sighs escaped with each breath. Her tail slid back and forth slowly each time as the rock where she rested kept her form solid. It was easy to see above from the gasses now that she was larger, as well as it was easy to find any preditors.

Ever since that fateful night, she always looked over her shoulder with each step, despite the safety she seemed to always have.

Soon enough however her ears caught a new sound, and perked with a light twinkle complements of her new earring. Lifting her head gracefully soon after, she looked right and than left before pushing up her fore legs. Just a light figure sitting on a stone in the middle of the hills, she stood out greatly against the grasses, but that seemed to not nerve her the least. She was more intrested in the sounds of another, and the rustling of grasses clearly showing his path.

Someone was coming right her way.

Raka continued along the way he was, totally and completely oblivous to the female in front of him. On and on he went, running through the grasses towards her. He was chasing a lizard, some strange spiny creature that had caught his attention and managed to hold it for more than a few minutes.

But the bright blue ahead of him had to catch his attention somehow, and eventually it caused him to glance up in surprised then end up tripping over his lanky legs. Hm, seemed that growing taller had its disadvantages as well.

Curious eyes blinked a few times before the wild dog was actually able to process the fact that there was another of his species sitting right there. It just took him a while because she didn't even seem disturbed by his obnoxious presence.... she was just sitting there, so serene and such. Finally he broke the silence:

"Oh, uhm, hello! I'm sorry for, uh, intruding or anything. I really didn't mean to. I mean.. uhm.." Gosh, did he sound like a bumbling idiot or what? Well, that was what happened when you go unsocialized for many many months.

Miremba just watched with facination as the grasses cleared to reveal a tan creature, one that was just like her own. Lowering her head and sniffing lightly as he was still distracted, her eyes trailed over his pelt and form. The colors blended well with the dirt and sands around, not standing out like her pure white pelt. His eyes were steady and he seemed keen on getting his prey, though what it was she could not tell. When he finally looked up, her head shot up as well, and her eyes seemed to widen, ears perked in alarm.

And than he fell, his form sprawled out and leaving a small ghost of a smile to cross her features. She settled down on her stomach once more and crossed her forepaws, earring catching the light with every turn as her ears slowly lowered and she caught his eye. When he was the first to speak, she just let him go on for a moment until he trailed, and finally decided she might as well speak and help him along.

"You did no such thing, these lands are free for all roamers..." Letting her voice trail off, she settled a moment before adding, "...Besides, it is always an honor to meet another Wild Dog here in the Southlands."

Raka smiled slowly, moving his paws about so that he lay comfortably on his stomach. So casual he was...

"Aw, ma'am, 's no honor to meet meh," he said, shaking his head slightly. It seemed that all that time away from others had also altered his speech a bit. He didn't sound like he had as a pup or juvenile. His speech was more rough now...

"Name's Raka by teh way," he added finally, hoping that he hadn't disturbed her too much. Miremba had said that she wasn't bothered by him at all and that this was free land, but she might have just been saying that to be polite or whatever.

"May I 'ave teh 'onor a knowin' yer name, Miss?" he asked, large ears flicking curiously towards her. It wasn't every day that he bumped into another intelligent creature, so he was eager to learn some things about her.

Her eyes staied on him as he settled down, still alert for any signs of hostality. Her instints and old habits were kicking in with each second as she seemed a little wary of this creature in front of her. Sure he may seem nice, but he was bigger than she, and in one movement he could have her pinned and be tearing at her pelt. But than again, she also had no idea that he didn't even eat meat, let alone attack others.

As he spoke aloud, she let her ears fall once more when the speech met them, her mind picking away each word slowly before moving onto the next. She nodded as he spoke his name, an easy enough one to remember, and felt a heat rise to her cheeks when she wasn't given the chance to respond until after he went on and asked for her name, as an honor. That was a new one indeed.

"My name is Miremba." She stated softly, the same ghostly smile crossing her maw, "It is a pleasure to meet you Raka, a nice change to the every day life I have faced these past months." She dared not speak of the darker part of the months, and instead just smiled with her eyes and kept them on her new company.

If he was able to read minds, Raka would have been spilling out the fact that he didn't eat meat and hardly ever had violent thoughts cross his mind. It just wasn't his thing to want to tear apart at others and kill them or whatever else it was some predators did.

No matter, though, at least Miremba hadn't run away from him or anything. That just would have been a real heart-breaker. He didn't like it when intelligent creatures ran away from him instantly and didn't even give him a chance to prove himself. It really would've ruined his day.

And it was amazing that she even understood him. The male had been separated from any social creature for many, many months now, and he was surprised to learn that he hadn't forgotten to talk yet. What he wasn't surprised at, though, was the fact that he now had an accent of sorts, one that showed his lack of speech.

"Miremba," he repeated easily, the name ringing nicely in his ears. "'Tis a lovely name, Miss," he stated with a smile and a slight wag of his tail. It was a better name than his own, that was for sure. Raka was too simple, he thought.

"Pleasure's 'll mine, re'lly," he spoke out, blinking and tilting his head slightly. He never thought someone would be glad to meet him, but apparently she was.

"Ain't it?" he asked, rolling onto his back comfortably. "Life's quite dull s'far 's I know."

Miremba turned her head away as he thought to himself, the short silence giving her a chance to laze about once more. Her head soon was rested on her crossed paws as she let out another one of her breathless sighs, before she turned as her name was spoken. It had been ages since she last heard her name called by another, in fact if she recalled correctly, it had been that night when her mate had said her name. That was how long it had been.

Her smile growing at the complement, she muttered a soft, "Thank you." In response for it, and watched as he rolled to his back with his paws to the air. It arose a soft giggle on her part, one she couldn't control and was quite surprised to have it filtering into the silence, but she soon stopped it all together. Swallowing it back inside, she shifted and looked away from his form, and nodded.

"Dull is one thing...there are too many lions now-a-days in these lands...all the packs of Wild Dogs seem to have disappeared..." She remembered the two other Wild Dogs she ran into, and let her eyes lower. It had been a rare thing indeed when it came to meeting up and finding thoes out there that were the same species as yourself.

Raka nodded then sighed slightly to himself. It did seem like this land was teeming with lions now and only had a few different creatures here and there. What was wrong with the lions anyways? Did the males not know how to keep to themselves?

Rolling back onto his stomach randomly, the male sighed once more. There were definitely not enough wild dogs out there; he knew, he had been traveling around for months and months and this was the first time he had come into contact with one of his own species.

"Yes'm, t' many lions indeed," he nodded in agreement. "Maybeh sum'on should start one up ag'in. I think it'd be nice ta 'ave mer wild dogs li'e us aboot." He nodded his head once more firmly, finding this a very good plan. But if there were only a few wild dogs out there, how were they to start up a pack.

Once more he sighed. Things just weren't simple anymore...

Watching him roll again, Miremba moved to a slow stand, and soon had hopped down to the dirt below to stare down at Raka. Once more she was forced to chew than digest his words, before she suddenly felt her ears fall. It sounded as if he was looking to join a pack, and than to go off and start a family. She turned away soon after and started to inch towards the grasses.

"The winds have been speaking of Packs trying to form..." She said with a bit of sorrow lacing through her words, "Families starting anew and working to try and form..." Turning her eyes back over her shoulder towards Raka, she flickered the same ear with her earring.

"They are somewhere in these lands, by a water hole..." It was a soft musing of advice, "If you search hard enough, I am sure you will be able to find them, and let the Wild Dogs live on." With that she turned away again, letting her eyes fall when he would not be able to see them do so.

Raka shrugged easily as she moved closer to him. He wasn't bothered by the fact that she was so close, though it probably should have. She was a stranger, and any stranger couldn't be trusted even if they did seem nice enough.

But his ears perked curiously as he slowly moved to stand on his paws again. His ever alert eyes watched her inch towards the grasses. Was she leaving, so soon? He whined, not wanting his company to leave. It really was lonely without someone to talk to.

Why was she telling him this? He wasn't planning to actually start one up! He just thought that it had been a nice idea.. that someone under the right circumstances and such should try and create a wild dog pack.

"'m confused," he stated simply and not bothering to give an explanation as to why.

Stilling as he spoke that out, her paw was half in the air as she elegantly settled it back down and turned towards him once more. Twice she had opened her maw to reply before closing it tightly, still trying to find the right words. Never had she thought to encounter such a reaction from another, and it just made her feel ruffled as well.

"Well..." She started slowly, before shaking her head and looking to him once more, "...Would you like to take a walk with me, I know this great watering hole near by, and the heat of the lands has gone up today..." It was a light offer, and she decided she would explain to him what she meant if he decided to go with her.

His personality made her head spin, for it almost seemed as if he had never met another before, and just had spent all this time on his own. Though it was very likly in the lands, she never deemed it probable, and it baffled her to no end to see Raka this way. Maybe it was that mother hen in her, or just the yearning to meet another and make a friend, but for some reason, she couldn't turn her back on him when he said thoes two words. Shoulders sagging, she let her ear perk as she awaited his answer, hoping he would agree so at least she had the company. She would work her thoughts out later.

Raka stood there, still confused, for about a minute longer. Go on a walk with her? Well... he wasn't quite sure. Even though he was larger than her and could probably defend himself if she even decided to attack, he felt al little uneasy. Perhaps it was the loner in him that didn't think this was such a good idea.

But whatever it was, it seemed that he conquered it within minutes. A sudden smile sprang up on his features as he took a few steps forward. He would go on a walk with her. His throat was quite parched anyways; the water would do him some good.

"Well, if ye don' mind... I dun wanna be a burden..."

He wondered if she really wanted him to go with her.

She stopped at the grasses and looked back to him, her eyes holding a bit of sorrow now though it was well hidden.

"You can always say no and just follow me at a safe distance, wait for me to get my fill and than leave, before you take a drink at the water. Though I think it would be better for both of us if we travel together, that way we both can see..." She still held her light, motherly tone, something she seemed to have grown to using as it was only a whisp of a tone indeed.

"But Raka, there is no pressure, you decide, I merely am offering one option." Letting off a smile than, she turned on her paws and walked to the grasses, letting him choose as her pace was slow and trailing, just enough for him to catch up when his thoughts finished.

There was just something about this creature... something that intrigued him about her. And it was that something that pushed him after her; almost as soon as she disappeared in the grasses, Raka quickly trotted to catch up.

"Wait.. wait.." he called, easily catching up to her because of her slow pace. "'m curious," he stated simply, now walking along beside her, matching his pace with hers.
