Tracing the dirt with her fingers Sailor Atë watched the park unfold out under the moon light. Beautiful and peaceful as always. It was hard to imagine this was a prime spot for people to go missing and Youmas to appear left, right and centre. But then again this was DC park she stood in, and everything in DC was tainted and rotten. Including the Senshi.
She was a Super now, she felt new energy, new power coursing though her veins. But it didn't feel right. Or at least she didnt. Not since she changed, not since she had bumped into Navi. God even the Negaverse Agents where getting to her. What sort of Senshi was she when even Chaos could give a good argument and she believe it!
Pathetic.
Thats all she was. And yet....she didnt feel it. She needed to know more and soon. To go on much longer in this limbo would be utter torture. She hadn't felt this torn up since she ate that rancid kebab......and then the cheese burger....man that was good. But not quite on the point of what was required of her! And she knew one girl that could give her the answers without biting of her head or getting into a fight.
Navi.
And now she was here. The place of their first meeting, where it all began. She didn't know whether to slap her or hug her if she showed up. She sortof felt it would be a combination of the two with some groping involved. Only time would tell.

Navi had been checking the large tree in the park periodically since her run in with Atë, and never once had the other girl returned. Until now. Navi could feel her as she approached, and that familiar aura brought a satisfied smile to soft, pink lips. She knew the other would return, eventually, and now here she was, and apparently stronger.
No matter, Navi herself had reached a new plateau of power. No longer the baby warrior that had happened upon Atë in her tree. She was far more experienced, a super, and that new confidence seemed to radiate off her in waves as she strolled up silently behind the waiting girl. "Are you waiting for me?" She sounded pleased, but there was no bite to her tone. She had no want to needle and prod at Atë. The Senshi of Pollution would one day belong to the Dark Mirror Court, and you did not treat future allies so rudely.
"A Super yourself? Congratulations are in order." She approached until there was only a yard between them, the delicate point of her chin tipping gently to one side as she smiled down at the woman.
She was still beautiful, voluptuous and lovely. Navi's eyes still roamed despite her general penchant for men.
"Have you thought more about my offer, if that why you're here?" Dark clad arms moved to fold lightly across her stomach, and she tapped a bare finger against the crook of her elbow.

Atë froze with shock, her fingers no longer playing in the plant pot she had decided to massacre for no apparent reason, she was now concentrating on keeping her stomach from emptying itself. What could she say, she was nervous! and more to the point what was it with all these people sneaking up on her!! She just wanted one day, one day, for another powered person to approach her from the front, in plain view! Was it required for everyone chaos aligned to come at her from behind...giggling would have to come later, she had a job to do.
"Don't flatter yourself, am just taking a stroll nothing ominous or doubt filled about that!" She turned around slowly her eyes taking in the new glow Sailor Navi gave off. Wow and she thought her fuku was revealing! But there was no mistake the girl had grown stronger and a harder determination radiated in her eyes. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all. Navi was after all the one who got her questioning in the first place. Now more than anything Navi seemed even more comfortable in herself, like she belonged, that this was right. So why was Ate feeling so dam well out of place?
"And congrats to you as well, although I dont usually praise those knee deep in chaos s**t but...it's not like I have a reason to hate you...Maybe i have come back for more information...uhh I dont know!" Her arms were on the verge of a Kermit flail as she threw herself up from her seat, her legs quickly demanding a erratic pacing movement to happen as she walked back and forth in front of Navi.
"I mean on one hand there is the order and the princess and the good and the helping and the saving and free phone but then on the other...well there is the killing and the harvesting of energy and i don't agree with that but you guys do seem to have fun but then that's bad and i just don't feel welcomed here and i have this stupid voice calling to me all the time that this isn't right and I just don't know. I DON'T KNOW!" *breath*
The scout was red in the face as she finished her rant, it was hardly awe inspiring or made much sense but Ate knew she couldn't open up to anyone about this, not in the order anyway. It had to be Navi. She had started this after all.

There was a silver of satisfaction for having managed to sneak up on the other senshi, but she kept it from showing on delicate features, and instead merely smiled benignly as Atë threw out her defensive retort. "Of course not," she agreed, intent on placating her target's frayed nerves, rather then needle any further. It might have been fun, baiting Atë, if she hadn't already made up her mind that the Senshi of Pollution would belong to the Dark Mirror Court. Besides, white moon or not, Navi could admit having formed an attachment to the girl.
When congratulated herself the dark senshi ducked her head in a bow, grinning proudly. "Thank you." The compliments were nice, but the tail of Atë's statement was the more important bit. "If it's information you want, I can give it to you." Bare fingers had paused in their gentle tapping, but they started up again, a slow and steady rhythm as she watched Atë pace.
She listened intently as the other girl lay out the complicated thoughts that had been on her mind lately, patiently waiting for her to finish before so much as moving. A sympathetic smile was offered as she passed Atë and moved towards the bench to take a seat, hands lowering to either side to curl loose around the edge. "Your perceptions of chaos are still so very clouded." She almost sounded sad, as if it hurt that Atë would imagine her a killer. It might even have been true.
One half gloved hand lifted, beckoning the order aligned senshi to come sit beside her. Fingers curling loosely around her wrist. It was a comforting gesture, as well as show that she meant the other girl no harm.
"You assume that Order is here to help, and all that follow your queen," she actually managed to keep the venom from her voice when talking of serenity, it was impressive. "Are good, and just." She shook her head. "I have seen my share of wickedness from the side of good. They attack without provocation, sling blame and bias thoughtlessly." Her expression darkened, disgusted with hypocrisy of the white moon, but she pushed it away after a moment, looking up with a soft smile.
The hand not currently holding Atë's rose, and she touched the other girl's chin ever so lightly. "Do I seem a mindless killer to you?" Her head tilted, and she searched the that pretty face for an answer. "I have killed no one, I hunt only those that would hurt others. Thugs, perverts, and thieves, but they're still alive, and perhaps now they will think twice before harming anyone else again. Is that bad?" She was very careful with whom she chose to steal energy from, more so then most in her court, she never took those she saw as innocent.
As for not being a killer? Well, it was true enough. She had not yet managed to snuff out Camelot's insufferable flame, though she would give much to do so. Atë didn't need to know that though, that was grudge beyond just order and chaos, personal.

The gentle act of holding her wrist seemed to snap the girl out of her irate ranting and bring her back to the real world. The messed up world. She didnt struggle against the hand or even begrudge sitting down next to the dark senshi. It was like she was hallow person following orders. Being like this, transformed, left her feeling so hollow. This wasn't her, she didnt feel right. So she didnt argue or fight against the soft touch of Navi as she spoke and stated her facts. It wasn't like a wake up call, there were no bright lights of realisation, but the darkness was dimming as she listened.
"I have also seen...things. Done things I have not been proud of in the name of the Princess. I thought i was...I thought there was nothing that I couldn't do that wouldn't be seen as helping or good. But if anything all I do is make things worse. I mean listen to you! You not even that much of a bad guy and yet here I am getting thrills from beating the snot out of people!....and they are not always Chaos aligned."
Her heart felt heavy. Sure she had made enough enemies out of the negaverse to warrant a decent good vs evil battle. But she also taken the law into her own hands. She had started to search the streets for any crimes, even subtle ones that didnt even warrant her vengeance and she brought her fury down upon them. She didn't know how many she had left, but many weren't concious to see her leave, for the pain to stop. And yet here was someone who was meant to be buddies with Chaos and seemed more good than she was. Maybe this wasn't right either.
"You seem more good than me Navi...but...I doubt even your Queen would want me...I know my Queen wouldn't. I just....I don't know what to do. I feel I could be good, i feel that I should be full of hate and spite for Chaos. I talk the talk but the hate...it doesn't come to me. And I want it too but...it just doesn't."
She pulled away from her touch as if it burnt her, her vision looking back out over the park as she held back stupid tears. Ate didn't cry, she screamed and yelled and got angry. But she didn't cry.
"Tell me about your Queen, tell me her plans...as much as you can of course. I could be a spy for all you know....i mean am not! Heh, s**t..."

As bad guys went, Navi was fairly tame. Least until you managed to get on her bad side, like those god forsaken knights, then she could be just as vindictive and petty as the whole of her alliance was meant to be. She didn't see herself a villain though. Surely chaotic, there was no denying that, but the ideals she fought for, the duty she upheld, all of it was in the name of something she felt was indeed the greater good.
She listened to Atë talk, soaked it all in and filed it carefully away. Every self doubt, ever ounce of confusion could be the key to winning the senshi over and bringing her to the dark light of their noble court.
Honestly, Navi expected it to be more of a challenge, but the way Atë was talking, it seemed the dark senshi really had only needed to lay the seeds and watch them grow.
There was no offense taken when that pretty face had jerked away from her, confident it hadn't been the touch of chaos, but her own self doubt. She did reach out to lay her hand on one stocking clad knee though, maintaining that air of comfort. Both for the sake of earning Atë's trust, and because she honestly wanted to make her feel better.
"I'm neither good, nor evil. I'm a soldier fighting for what I believe in, and holding onto my own morals, that which they are." There, a subtle admission that she wasn't quite as squeaky clean as she came off as. Still, she liked to think of herself as a little more righteous then her negaverse allies.
The smile returned as Atë asked about her queen. "Our Ares designs to rebuild our court, once the parallels, but now the dark mirror. We will grow in number, and we will return this planet to the humans, it's rightful owner.' Her thumb moved along the other girl's knee. Slow soothing circles. "Our queen seeks to regain that which Serenity has cut off from us."

Sailor Ate still wasn't convinced. She knew the world wasn't just black and white, there where shades of grey with splodges of purple thrown in there to confuse the hell out of people. Nothing could be straight cut. But surly there was a difference between right and wrong, and she was on the right side. She had to be.
"I don't even know what am fighting for any more. Yeah were told to stop Chaos from taking over, to bring back the kingdom, protect life...but I don't want to protect half the people I save. Like you said some just dam well deserve it! And if I feel like that now, how could I possibly work for a Queen...a Queen that hasn't even graced us with her presence! For ******** sake can she not see we are losing here!"
Her anger was like a living thing, it pulsated through her chest, it hurt. She didnt even know why she was getting upset. So what if her Queen wasn't around, maybe lost forever. Why should she care? Ate wasn't a leader by any means but she didnt feel all too pleased to just follow someone needlessly. Especially when they weren't even around. But she listened to Navi even if it looked like she wasn't, she didnt even care that the girl was trying to comfort her. Any other day she would be grateful for the comfort. Venice was a softy at the heart of things, it had just grown a hard shell.
"Heh, we can't even let them walk down the street without killing themselves...I mean what's the point of trying to protect something that will hurt itself anyway...and I personally dont want to be on the losing side."
During her words she had turned back to Sailor Navi, searching her eyes for any truth, and light. Was this meant for her? She wasn't sure not yet. She didn't know if she could even trust the girl sat opposite.
"Look at me, tell me. What should I do..." It was a plea for help, a simple question but scattered with deadly booby-traps. Ate needed answers, she didn't know if this girl could give them too her, she didn't expect she could. Maybe she didn't even want them, but she needed something.

"There is no clean cut line dividing good from evil, order and chaos. It's a muddied, blurred division, and nigh impossible to distinguish which side is truly good. Who knows, perhaps neither, or perhaps even both, though their methods certainly differ. Who's to say who is right though? Is the negaverse wrong for fighting to reclaim their home world? They can be barbaric, but are they unjusitfied?" Freckle kissed shoulders rose in a shrug, and it was clear by her expression she didn't have an answer that that question. She didn't need one though. "It doesn't matter though, I know what I'm fighting for, what my queen is fighting for."
There was definitely one thing the Dark Mirror had that the White Moon did not. Ares. Not just some name whispered in the dark, not some figure head hiding in the shadows and delivering orders. The senshi of the Dark Mirror knew their queen, talked to her, each and every one. She had even made an appearance at a holiday party for the whole of their court. "I will follow her through hell to see her vision made truth." The smile she wore was proud, peaceful. Loyalty, thy name is Navi.
Atë's question on what she should do made the dark senshi blink, soft gaze returning from the park to rest once again on that pretty face. She looked so vulnerable, but there was no easy answer. "Would you take me at my word, our relationship as it is now?" Ginger curls moved along her shoulders as she shook her head. "I would love nothing more to give you clarity, but any answer I give now would only ruin things in the future, not just that of my court, but yours." She reached up again, cradling Atë's cheeks as she leaned closer. "You won't believe me now, and I won't give you fuel to base a hasty decision on." Her thumbs stroked along soft skin.
Navi frowned. "I do want what's best for you." What little gap that remained between them was closed, and soft pink lips brushed delicately against berry red before offering a firmer kiss to her cheek. There was something about this girl, some quality to her temper, her personality, that just attracted the dark senshi. It wasn't exactly sexual, but there was some manner of spark there that made her seek to comfort her.

And that was it. There was no answer but instead a simple sentence. A simple choice. Ate had a decision and it was one for her to make and no one else. Even if it was simple, so easy to figure out. It took hearing it from Navi for it to click into place. We all have a choice, its what we do with it that defines us...
Yet what didn't define anything was the kiss Ate didn't see coming! Sure it wasn't the lip smacking tongue feast she was more use to with pretty girls, but more like the ones you got from your grandmother...if your grandmother was creepy like that. She wasn't horrified by any means, Ate was no shrieking violet but she could usually tell when a girl was coming in for the kill and this wasn't one. Navi was just full of surprises.
"Heh...careful tuts, am all vulnerable right now...but its nice to know that even you don't have all the answers...i have some thinking to do. I know i dont look like i could manage such a mental task but...i need too." She leaned in to give a small hug of affection to her, no kisses from this Senshi, she needed comfort tonight more than that simple kiss and she had a very good feeling Navi wasn't the type of gal to provide it. Either that or a cold shower would do.
Pulling away she brushed a silky curl away from Navi's face. Someone so angelic couldn't be evil could they? Well the answer was YES! She had seen it time and time before. But this time it didn't feel wrong to feel comfort in her presence, it felt like...home.
"Will you be here again? Not that am asking or anything but you know, this is my territory. I would hate to kick your a** after our lovely chats!" Her voice chirped up, it was a signal that this Sailor had had enough! She didnt know whether to go find and kick someone's a** or cry into a bowl of ice cream. She would have to combine the two, find herself some sort of Ice coned monster...god she was on the wrong team with ideas like that.
"Thank you Sailor Navi...I mean it..."

Surprises were one thing the dark senshi had in abundance. So long as Atë continued to share her company, she would have to get used to Navi doing unexpected things.
She was smiling when the other girl drew away from their chaste little kiss, and she chuckled at being referred to as tuts, a faint smirk twitching into view along pink lips. "Does that mean I could have gone for more?" Was she really flirting with Atë? Apparently the surprises applied to the pair of them, and not just the order aligned soldier. When the other girl moved to hug her, Navi leaned in and returned it, squeezing in what she hoped was a reassuring manner. "No one has all the answers, it would be arrogant to assume otherwise."
When they parted the second time Navi reached up to touch Atë's chin again just as she had moved to brush a curl from freckled features. "I'll be here," she assured her softly, letting her hand fall back to her own lap. "And I'll try not to sneak up on you anymore." She grinned at her own little joke, but she did mean it.
"You're welcome." Navi stood, smoothing her fuku down neatly before folding her arms across the exposed oval of her stomach. "I mean it you know," she offered after a second. "Everything I said, everything I offered." She really hoped Atë was coming to trust her, not just for her court, but because it also mattered to her on a personal level now. She was beginning to see the white senshi as more then just a mark, perhaps even as a friend.
"Be caureful," she urged as she turned, glancing over her shoulder once as she started walking before disappearing into the shadows of the park.
