To say Sailor Atë was having a moment was an understatement. She was having several. Actually she was having about a weeks worth. A week. She wasn't sure if there was a Sailor Scout handbook she had to read to reassure herself but right now she was thinking things. Things that shouldn't be thought and she knew dam well what she needed to do and fast. She needed an ear. Maybe even two. It didn't matter what form they came in just that they were prepared to listen.
Sailor Atë was having second thoughts. Doubts if you will. Her confidence was shaken and she didn't know what to do with it for one second.
It would be a fantastic time for the Moon Princess to come visit her right now and blow these troubles away but someone was still playing eternal hide and seek. Typical. So she needed the next best thing. Scratch that she needed the best thing.
Chaonis.....well maybe not the best but dam close!
He was an eternal, the last she saw of him she had barely worn in her fuku. Now she was a Super Sailor Scout, more powerful and more ready to take on Chaos. But that was the problem. She wasn't feeling the spark, she was losing the want to go out and patrol. And Navi...Sailor Navi had told her things that made too much sense. She was beginning to doubt.
It wasn't difficult to find the Eternal Sailor, he was after all the Senshi of Danger and where some may avoid the more harsh areas to patrol it felt right that Chaonis would flock to them. At least this way Ate had no trouble searching for him if she wanted. She just had to make sure she got in his way and plonking herself on a prime lookout spot was her way of doing that. The lazy man's way of doing it to be precise. She lit up a cigarette and waited. Waited to be convinced everything was going to be ok.
Waiting to be rescued.

For a guy who didn't like being predictable, and didn't keep a schedule, Eternal Sailor Chaonis was pretty easy to track down. Maybe because he did not hide from anyone, and didn't care who found him or when. Maybe because he did maintain steady habits, however annoying for other people they might be.
He was patrolling where she thought he would be, and he did feel her energy close enough to want to investigate it. It felt familiar, but different, and that usually meant a power up. He loved checking those out: he liked to think it was his handy work paying off, even though he rarely had anything to do with it. Details, details.
The teenage one man wrecking crew bounced onto the roof she was waiting on, noticing that it was Ate and that she was smoking. He had cut back almost entirely, mostly because he needed his lungs intact to be as badass as he demanded of himself. He sauntered up to her, looking her over appraisingly.
"So they're just handing out upgrades to just about anyone these days, eh? The ladies still okay in there?" He grinned at her, tilting his head. He did notice something in her expression, in her eyes, that almost registered as familiar. He had seen it before, though at the moment he was unable to name it. Doubt was common, at least in anyone that wasn't Chaonis, and the life they lived was hard.
He crossed his arms over his chest.
"Working hard, or hardly working?" he asked, with a perfect irony clinging to his dry and cliche words.

Oh god did she want to punch that little smirk of his face and then give him a hug. He was like the annoying brother she didn't have and would have killed by now if he was anything like Chaonis...minus the boob jokes. That would be slightly worrying. And it was more than a good job he hadn't followed her trail exactly, there was a whole Hansel and Gretel thing going on with the cigarette buts she had left in her wake. Stressed did not come close to what she was feeling right now!
"Ha, the girls are fine, although they are lonely, you need to visit me more hard a** or has someone got you whipped? I've missed you and your cutting ways!" It was clear Ate was trying to push her personality threw, trying to get the jokes out that she was well known for. And failing. She just didnt have the energy to force it any more. She just didn't care.
"I think the latter may describe me a little more riht now, you know, never a giant two headed monster when you want one and ten as soon as you book a holiday the place is over-run...I am so close to just packing my bags." Was that a hint? Yeah Chaonis should take the as a hint, also the wide eyes and carefully placed over the top wink might have helped him along too. Still trying to make jokes, well it was Ate after all.
She patted the stone wall beside her, beckoning for him to take a load off and sit with her. She couldn't make any promises that she wouldn't bite but at least she try not to leave a mark.

"I bet you have," Chaonis grinned, when she said she missed him. Who wouldn't miss being teased endlessly and subjected to embarrassing and awkward torments by an over confident teenager douche bag? Chaonis couldn't think of anyone.
Not that he ever did waste time thinking of other people, in any sense.
He grinned at her, nodding his head and looking her over. This wasn't about how she looked, so much as the fact that she was different. A power up was a big deal: it meant a person was stronger physically. They were worthy of an upgrade and could do more. They could fight harder. Basically, a power up was a bad a** certification.
In most cases.
"Packing your bags, eh? Things that bad? Don't seem too bad for me." He noticed the way her eyes seemed to flicker as she joked around, and the fact that she wanted him to sit with her warned him that she needed someone to talk to. He could be that guy, when he wanted to, but he never let anyone know that flat out. Still, he moved to join her, languid, giving her a keen, critical look.
"You look like you want to b***h about something."

She didn't really mind if Chaonis wanted to sit with her as long as he listened...actually scratch that he would listen even if it meant sitting on him, and she was not above sitting on people. So she was more than surprised when she saw him react to her signal and take her up on the offer. A pleasant surprise.
"Heh, of course they don't seem bad to you, you have your head so far up your arse am surprised you can't see daylight through that delightful mouth of yours but yes...they are bad."
And not in the way that she couldn't handle it. There were more Youma around that was for certain and far more agents too. Toss in the DMC Senshi and you had one hell of a party going on and there was no time for sitting and pondering your path in life. Yet here she was. All messed up and stuff. She hated when it wasn't caused by drugs or alcohol, at least then she didnt have to think about how ******** up she was getting. Now it was plain to see, she was being royally ********, bitching is probably the best word for it. Screw vocabulary lets stick with what we know!" She was so close to breaking into a smile and telling the Eternal Senshi she was just joking around that she nearly did it, nearly. But that would be a lie.
"I guess you've seen your fair share of strange s**t as a Sailor scout, monsters, men wearing skirts, senshi changing sides...you know...to uhh bat for the other team as they say...and not the good kind." But there was always a good time for a gay joke.
"Ever....wanted to see what it was like....Chaos that is! Am sure you would make someone a beautiful wife one day."

"You would have a much harder time checking out this hotness if it was up anyone's a**, much less my own." He shook his head, grinning at her pointedly. It was his 'I am handsome and I know it, and you do too' grin. Patent pending.
He did watch her, though, with a keener eye than his flippant demeanor let on. In his time as a senshi, he had come to understand people a bit better. He had taken on a lot of newer senshi, watched them as they powered up, as they worked through their fears, as they tried to decide why they were doing what they were doing.
In his way, he was becoming observant, responsive and, god forbid, even a mentor.
At her question, though, she got a scowl. And not because of the gay joke.
"No matter how hard things get for me, I damn well know I am not a chicken s**t traitor. I was given these powers and my team was picked for me, sure, whatever, but who cares? It's not like I'm being controlled, or told what I have to do. The last thing I want to do is let someone brainwash me like they do those pathetic dark senshi." Said the guy having a strange relationship with one of them.
"Anyway, it's not something you can just check out and come back from if you think hey, no, this isn't right for me. What's got you thinking about going rogue? Because things are so hard? They might be easier as a bad guy then as a good guy? I didn't think you were made of marshmallows and dreams. I thought you were tougher than that."

Her hands flew up defensively! Sure she may have been letting herself think about it but she wasn't sleeping with a Youma just yet! He didn't need to know how far her thoughts had gone and right now she needed a reason to stay not a lesson.
"Woo-aa-ohh grumpy! Spitting on me and s**t, I was just asking!" She mimicked brushing he cheeks and chest of the potential droplets as she scowled un-meaninglessly towards him. He made a good point, she had been chosen by the Order to defend this world against Chaos. That privilege wasn't just given to anyone - even with all the Senshi running about! The Order obviously thought she was Sailor Scout material, so why didnt she feel like one.
"Plus I wouldn't say swapping sides was being a traitor just...finding your full potential! What if the fates are wrong. What if you weren't meant to be a Sailor scout at all!" She never thought about giving up the whole Senshi gig. She didnt think it was possible but then again she was the one saying the words with her Henshi pen, she could just stop saying them. She suddenly remembered his last words and tutted. He knew dam well she wasn't a softy, but even the strongest people questioned where they were going.
"Its not hard you idiot. If anything its too dam easy! And no that wasn't an invitation to lock me a room with them all! I know my limitations and am better than most, I can do this job and do it dam well. Heh to know I would be going against someone like me if I was a bad guy? Well, i would just hang up the evil cloak right there and then, so no Mister I-think-i-know-everything-with-giant-a**-face. I dont think it will be easier on their side. If it was they would have won by now....not that you would know it..."

Chaonis was a bit defensive, but maybe that was because he was letting his own stance waver. He was, after all, having some kind of torrid affair with a dark senshi, the same ones he spoke so lowly of, and treated like the scum of the earth.
Or whatever planet they came from.
He looked at her, then grinned. It was a hard look, though, with sharp edges. He was still not keen on the topic: he was a stubborn young man with convictions that he stuck to, and ones he ignored entirely. He was not there to live up to anyone elses expectations, but he certainly didn't care if other people followed his lead.
"Then you wouldn't have woken up as one," he said, "I mean, that's the whole point, isn't it? If you have something sleeping inside you that needs to be woken up or just wakes up on its own then whatever, that's just how things are. You deal with it. But you're in control, you know?"
The way he saw it, at least. He wasn't sure too many people share his view, but whatever. He wasn't in it for them, obviously.
In truth, he was very loyal to his fellows. Not the idea of being a senshi, or the fact that they were all fighting for some bigger purpose. No, he chose his battles, he decided what he wanted to fight for and what he didn't. And he had decided to fight for everyone else like him. That was why he bothered 'training' them, and pushing them. Protecting them.
If there was anything Chaonis would die for that wasn't for himself, it was the senshi he had met. It was Ate, as well.
"There are plenty of challenges out there. You think I'm the kind of guy who settles for easy fights? So what's the problem? Listen, I don't know what you're problem is, or what doubts or whatever you have. But if you ever go dark, I will personally kick your face in. Anything else? You know how to call me. If you need a good or a bad time, I'm good for both." He grinned at her.

If Chaonis was stubborn than Ate gave the term a run for its money. It wasn't that she wasn't willing to listen or she had made up her mind. Far from it. But she wanted to know if these doubts were justified. She had to know if others got cold feet, that she wasn't the only one, she couldn't be could she?
"I guess, but maybe I was woken up for the wrong team? The power is there but you know it was a rat race to see who got to me first? Maybe the wrong side won? I dunno what am saying, its all stupid and i have no idea why I am even contemplating it! But dammit if I can't stop thinking about it!"
Twisting slightly Ate moved her form so she could lie down on the precarious wall overlooking the skyline, she didn't care for heights but right now she thought of nothing better than just rolling right off it. Not that she would of course. Plus Chaonis little comment made her laugh, she needed that.
"Ha! I would like to see you try hard a**, I know you love me you kinky sod!" She really did appreciate him, even if they weren't best buddies, or patrolled together she tended to look up to him even if she was the older of the two. He had far more wisdom than she ever did.
"I know...same goes to you too you know....hey I've just had a thought. Maybe I should go see my Home world? Planet....asteroid thing. Giant dump truck in the sky. Get some of my ancestral mojo pumping! What do you think? Ever been to yours?"
Yes she may be now trying to distract them from the serious conversation of Good senshi turning bad, but she wanted to know just as much. These questions couldn't be answered any time soon and she needed to wait. Even if she hated waiting. With a passion.

Chaonis wrinkled his nose in distaste.
"There's only one right side. Unless you like hurting and killing people, and that sounds like something fun for you, then you're not on the wrong side. If you're willing to let yourself be brainwashed and controlled like a puppet, then yeah, maybe you're on the wrong side. But why complain?"
He shook his head, looking at her keenly.
"If you can't stop thinking about it, then you're considering being a traitor. I don't like traitors. If you're scared or bored or whatever, that's one thing. But these are your powers. If you don't like what you're doing, then do something else. I'm not exactly the poster boy for senshi, you know. I know that's surprising, but think about it and it makes sense." He grinned at her wickedly, then grew serious-ish again, "but I am sure of myself, and my powers. Whatever other people think they're for, or I'm destined for, or whatever the baddies say to try and convince me I'm wrong, I don't care. I do it my way, and no one has stopped me yet."
He thought about her proposal and nodded his head. He really liked visiting the planets that belonged to other senshi. He had only been to his once, but he didn't talk about it much.
"I've been to mine, and a few others. Space is kinda awesome." And it was a good way for both of them to stop thinking about serious things. He hated when things got heavy: he just wanted to pretend everything was as easy as he said it was.

It was a good move resting on her back, Ate could see the stars above and the endless space that held them all together. Out there was her home...or what use to be her home. From what she had found out it was nothing more than rubble and ruins, hardly fit to visit but some Senshi's had found solace in returning. Ate could only image it would bring up bad memories.
"Oh yeah? What was yours like? I've only ever been to the surrounding and the few zodiac senshi homes they allowed us to visit. Dumps the lot of them. I can't imagine how bad my planet its...actually I don't even think its a planet, its an asteroid. How s**t is that I don't even get a planet, i get a floating rock for a home!" She sounded more spiteful than sarcastic and for a second she couldn't believe she was having a go about having an asteroid for a home. Actually...It was amazing that she had an asteriod to begin with! Scratch that, it was amazing she had any of this!
She was being stupid and what she should have been was grateful.
It wasn't perfect but something had at least clicked back into place. For now.
"Heh....you know what. I think I might have just given myself some breathing space. I forgot what's been given to me, the opportunities, the chance to find myself. It may not be what I want but...thanks Chaonis. You did ******** all to help, but thank you." She grinned wildly and poked him sharply between his armour as she looked back. Yeah she was still shaken and her mind was defiantly not made up. But for now she could appreciate what she had.
"Maybe you can come visit my home world sometime? You know, take some beers, get wrecked, help repopulate it? Heeheee, or has someone else gotten their claws into you?" She aimed another poke in his direction, sliding back up as she nudged him for an answer.

"Mine's a floating rock, too. But it's not too shitty. I dunno. I'll take you to it some time, if you want."
When Chaonis had to talk about himself or personal things, he found he lacked the verbal dexterity to get anything out. He shrugged his shoulders and clammed up, not because he didn't want to say anything but because he suddenly felt he had nothing to say.
He wasn't much for sharing.
And yet he had offered to take her to his planet, to spare him having to talk about it. Or maybe he just wanted to go there with someone else again. What was the point of going alone? Anyway, if she wanted to know about it the best way to do that was to visit it. And she had invited him to hers, so it was only fair. Because Chaonis cared about being fair, obviously.
He looked at her when she thanked him for doing nothing.
"It's what I'm best at," he grinned, "doing ******** all to help, I mean." Which was true, really. Though sometimes he had a little more to offer than that. He grunted at her teasing, though. That was a complicated question and he was surprised that it was. Was he with anyone right now? No. Not technically. But there was Rosalind, though she had gone away without a word, and there was Navi. But he didn't actually like either of them. Hell, one was a bad guy, the other an annoying senshi he loved to infuriate.
Chaonis was not great at forming 'normal' relationships, friendships or otherwise.

Ate could tell she had taken it a little too far in the personal realm for Chaonis liking. Yeah she was a nosey bugger and loved getting up in everyone's business if she could but she also knew when to leave things be....and stalk said person instead to get her answers. It wasn't like she didnt know the meaning of confused as hell relationships jumping on everything that moved. She may have had a thing for a certain someone but that situation was happily categorized in the "Never going to happen" pile.
Shaking her head in defeat she nudge him again, staying for a few more seconds so it could translate as more of a shoulder hug from herself.
"Heh, OK Romeo, you just make sure your not breaking too many hearts, i have to have my way with you yet and I don't want you worn out!" Of course this was also never going to happen but when was Ate never not making terrible jokes in awful situations. Never that's what.
"And thank you, I would like to see your world...Ha! See, we are destined to be together my man, we both have rocks for home, we're both drop dead gorgeous! I have that thing for hard asses, just imagine what our children would look like!" She let her fingers find the space between his armour again to give him a further poke, it was safe to say Ate would be doing that a lot from now on since finding it. Not that he had any say in the matter.
"I'll let you think about that, let in stew in that big old brain of yours." she added with a wink. Her mind was itching to get moving, as were her legs for that matter and even though she felt a little more grounded she couldn't sit for much longer. She was going home.
"See you around Sailor Chaonis, or should I say soul mate. Heehee..."

Chaonis let her stay leaning against him, not wanting to shirk off the friendly touch.
He grinned at her.
"There's no wearing me out," he said coyly, shaking his head with that same cocky air that had vanished for the briefest of moments before. He had to agree with her. The facts were stacking up: they were both amazingly good looking, and their home planets probably left a lot to be desired. Plus, they were both hardheaded and stubborn, not to mention confident.
"See ya, babe," he said, watching her as she got up to leave. He remained where he was, as if he were too cool to walk away with her watching. Anyway, he'd get a good view as she walked off, right? She left him thinking, that was certain, but he at least hoped he had done the same for her in a different sense. Maybe a more serious one.
But then, he told himself he didn't really care. That just made life a lot easier, even when it wasn't true.
