Dante sighed as he picked his way carefully through the last of the woods at the base of the mountain. So many trees made him feel somewhat closed in. He preferred the open expanse of his home, where all one could see was snow and sky, and he could fly without being hampered. He had to admit he liked the color of this new environment, though. And the warmth. Definitely an improvement over perpetual cold.

Finally the trees cleared, and he could see across a beautiful grassy plain waving in the breeze. To his left there was a huge expanse of water. Dante's ears perked and he headed towards the shore, intent on seeing if the water was drinkable. He was quite thirsty.

Just as he reached the lakeside, he caught the sound of wings in the air. He glanced up and saw a blue-ish dot in the sky coming closer and closer. He suddenly realized it was another Azrein. A female as well, he noted, of incredible coloring - it was as though she grew of the beautiful snowy nights of his youth. He felt suddenly plain. And, as she landed gracefully in front of him, clumsy as well.

And abruptly he thought of the fact that he was completely unprepared for any kind of attack. Well, he'd have to assume the best of her. He cleared his throat. "Hello," he said calmly, hoping she wouldn't hear the nervousness in his voice. It had been a long time since he'd seen another Azrein.

Hard to imagine such a mare giving him the time of day, let alone being as kind as she was. He dipped his head in greeting, hiding his blush at her smile. "I'm Dante," he answered. "I don't know if it's freshwater or not. I was going to go see. Would you.. would you like to join me?" He stretched out his wings a little yearningly, hoping she would come along. he thought.

Reoakee

Dante grinned, eying Alu-lote from behind. Was she fast? He certainly hoped so. Feeling a burst of energy, he reared back on his hind legs and then threw himself foreword past her. "Then I'll race you!" he called back with a laugh. He did love to run. A guilty pleasure, for a Pegasus. He turned his attention to making sure he wouldn't trip, eyes fixed on the shore rapidly approaching.

((He's still kinda young, and he isn't really sure how to act around Azrein. He's been alone for a while. ^^; ))

He heard her gaining quickly, and responded by tucking his wings as close as he could to his body. She must've been warmed up before they started. ::Cheater,:: he thought with a grin. He had the feeling he was going to lose, but strangely enough he found he didn't much care. It felt too good to just let loose. At least the lake was pretty close. He might have a chance in a sprint. Any longer and he'd certainly lose.

((Funny enough, Dante's speed is only 7. xD He's strong, not fast - he just likes to run. Also, this is my last post of the night - I've got work to go sleep for. Promise I'll be back for more tomorrow!))

He supposed he'd never noticed how much snow slowed him down when he ran back home. She pulled ahead of him and his first thought was ::Damn, beat by a girl.:: But he didn't stop, and quickly thought of something to be happy about - ::Now I can watch her without tripping or looking like an idiot!:: She was quite graceful. He had the feeling she didn't get to run like this much either, adding to his pleasure.

Then he looked ahead, and realized they were getting a little too close to the lake. If they didn't stop quickly, they'd both run right in! He called out, "Hey, stop! You win!" At the same time he began trying to stop himself, flaring his wings out for balance. He tripped a bit but managed to catch himself. He hoped she'd be able to do the same.
