The sun had just come out, the morning sky veiled in a haze of white as the man waited in chilly silence in the middle of the town. Sige expected no less from the season of winter, pulling his long jacket against himself as light blue-green eyes peeked to the side where his fawn was laying.

"...Arden." he muttered in a low voice as the fawn replied with a lazy yawn, its golden eyes closing in tiredness as it nuzzled against his masters cloth coat, looking for more warmth.

He gave Arden an incredulous look, still in disbelief at the animal that was next to him. With how peaceful the fawn looked, it was hard not to give in as he reached a gloved hand out from under his coat to stroke its soft rich fur. It felt so strange to have such a companion with him, so used to being alone for the most part in his travels. And it seemed that the fawn was just like a child, energetic, curious and wide-eyed at everything--jumping and touching everything that he could find. Which --to the man who always wanted to be low-key-- was absolutely disastrous.

It was not that he disliked the fawn, in fact he was deeply enamored by it, his lips curving into a small smile as Arden pressed his head against his hand. But it was that he absolutely did not know what to do with Arden. After contemplating on it, he had attempted to hire someone to accompany him on today's short journey for a trade. At least this one time he had someone who could help him. Yet it was at this point that he started having regrets about that decision, letting his free hand touch the long hidden blade at his side. Today's deal was not dangerous yet there was always room for surprises.

It was cold, by the Gods, it was cold. Liesel was grateful for the thick fur-lined cloak around her shoulders. When she had come down from the North in her furs and thick clothing, a man on the road had laughed at her. Sunderland isn't that cold. He'd said. Well granted, when she first arrived it was summer, but Liesel was glad she'd kept her things. The warmth of her cloak would ensure that she didn't suffer on this next job. She pulled the cloak tighter around her and adjusted the pin.

Liesel saw the man waiting for her in the town square. At his side, a small fawn. A fawn? She didn't know there would be a fawn involved. The girl hoped it wouldn't make too much of a difference. As she got closer, she noticed the man touch something at his side, probably a dagger. Liesel had brought only her sword, which was clipped to her side, but if the job required it she would fetch some more equipment. She hoped it wouldn't be anything too dangerous...

"Are you Sige?" She asked the man. "I'm Liesel, you sent a letter to me about a job?"

Sige was slightly startled at the woman's voice, engrossed in his own thoughts for the moment as he was touching on the fawns soft fur as it let out a gentle sound of approval. The woman in front of him wasn't what he was expecting, she seemed rather--delicate at first glance. Although he wasn't one to judge, he was merely content to have at least some kind of company.

His disposition was rather tense, always cautious when meeting new people no matter what the case. "That I am," he bowed his head in polite greeting though his expression stayed rather serious. "You are to accompany me for a short journey to one of the merchants on the outskirts of the city. Not too far of a walk it's just----" he narrowed his eyes to the fawn beside him who's golden eyes were staring curiously at the stranger, unsure of what to make of her just yet. "Ah-- this is Arden. I'm not sure what kind of trouble he shall bring yet." Giving the animal one light pat of the head he then crossed his arms, offering Liesel a small smile. "And the transaction shall me made when we get there. So, is it a deal Miss Liesel? "

The man seemed tense, a little on edge. That was good, it meant she didn't have to babysit him and watch him every step of the way. She listened as the man explain the job, just a simple escort journey to the edge of the city. Why a man needed a guard to walk across the city was unknown to her, but then, Liesel had long since learned not to ask too many questions. If she noticed the slight surprise in the man's voice, well, she ignored that too.

"Yes, that's fine."

The golden eyed fawn blinked. Liesel was reminded of her home. She reached out to rub it's head. "A shame this one isn't bigger. Where I come from, we used to ride deer. Though granted, the deer in my homeland were...bigger, and had more fur."

She retracted her hand and stood straight up. The girl looked at Sige and said, "Well then, lets get going."

He was quite pleased to see that the woman didn't really have any qualms about the journey-- direct to the point and getting the job done. Sige liked that very much, and already he was appreciating this girl immensely.

"Good to hear it." he replied with a nod of head.

Arden's golden eyes lidded at the touch, wagging it's short soft tail with the affectionate touch to his head. Sige sighed at him, the creature was so very trusting--very much unlike him especially when the fawn pressed its head even moreso on the woman's hand.

"So I see," he looked at Liesel, with a small smile, "Where are you from then--I mean if you don't mind me asking." he said carefully, motioning to his furry companion to stand up as they all started to depart. "The journey will not take more than a few hours." Sige didn't want to assume, and he knew well that the road held many surprises.

"From the North. Far, far to the North. A land of mountains and valleys and snow." The young fawn turned his golden eyes towards Liesel and she stared back. Lifting her hand, she turned her gaze to the man in front of her.

"It's very different from here."

Now that she thought about it, it was odd that the man needed a simple escort to somewhere within a few hour's walk. Normally when people wanted escorts, they wanted to be kept safe in the wilderness or on the roads, where any manor of danger might find them. But a few hours.... they'd still be in the city. What kind of man needed an escort within the city? Either Sige was someone who had no backbone, or he was someone involved in something darker, something dangerous.

Liesel looked at the man in front of her. She decided that Sige wasn't really the type of person that seemed to have no backbone. There was a part of her that wanted to know exactly why the man needed an escort but if there was anything Liesel had learned, it was that people didn't like to talk about the details of their jobs.

A pity, because she found those details very interesting.

"Sounds wonderful," the man replied to the description of the woman's hometown. The young man's personality didn't really suit the busy city very well, yet he did what he could in his circumstances, adapting and--surviving the harsh environment despite he and his mother's financial woes. "--I bet." was his response to the last part, letting out a soft sigh as the three of them continued on, Arden trotting playfully around the two and ready for a short journey to their destination.

Sige was not a man of many words yet that didn't mean that he wasn't curious about where the woman had come from. "So what--differences are there, then?" he did not want to pry, asking general questions while still being very much alert to their surroundings. His years of being in his--business-- prompting him to observe even the tiniest details, a fine line from being slightly paranoid.

The fawn trotted beside Sige for a good while as they walked but then suddenly moved towards the woman, making the man turn his head back at the animal. "I'm sorry if he bothers you-- he's rather--ah, curious."
