Name: Remus John (Lupin) Zulpen
Meaning: Remus was one of the twin boys raised by the Roman Wolf goddess Lupa.
Nicknames: Moony, Romulus, his parents call him Remi
Status: He died. Single!
Personality: Remus often looks sickly and tired. He's quietly mischievious--don't let that bookish look about him fool you! People tend to underestimate him because of his quiet nature. He's a very kind boy, but has a tendency to love--being liked. That's where the trouble starts. He's so pleased and surprised at having people like him that he allows them to get away with everything and anything. He is tolerant and has an ability to see good in just about anyone.
He is gentle and good natured (most of the time). Despite this, he has a fairly strong sense of humor (of course! He was one of the four Marauders). Unless confronted during his monthly cycle, Remus can and will be civil to his enemies. During the full moon and three days prior to it, however, this boy is someone you want to avoid! Remus becomes violent and altogether Moody. You don't want to anger him during this part of the month--and unfortunately, it is very easy to do so.
Every group of troublemakers needs a brain or two behind it! Remus was that brain. While James and Sirius were intelligent, brave, and talented--Remus kept to his books. He does so even now, here on Gaia. He will often be caught reading a book, or two--or three. Or spending his free time in the library.
Likes: Sirius, James, books, reading, chocolate, magic, making friends (keeping friends), spending time with friends, chocolate, the outdoors, chocolate, eventually Kimmy, pranking with friends, pranking James, pranking Sirius.
Dislikes: Full moon, being a werewolf, losing friends due to being a werewolf, losing friends period, bad grades.
History: Remus Lupin could be considered the bravest of the four. At a very young age, he was bitten by a werewolf who had been angered by his father. His loving parents tried everything, but there was no cure. He grew up believing he would not be able to attend Hogwarts. But then, Albus Dumbledore became Headmaster. He had some hope then; Dumbledore was known for being accepting (and not quite all there; after all, what fool would allow a werewolf into Hogwarts?)
Dumbledore allowed him to attend. He did more than that; he made sure students would be safe. He had the Whomping Willow and the Shrieking Shack build for Remus' use. The boy had never respected anyone more.
Soon after boarding the Hogwarts Express, Remus met James Potter and Sirius Black. They became fast friends, wonderful friends--but Remus could only wonder when they would find out. When they would write to their parents, complaining that there was a werewolf in their dorm.
It never happened. Though the boys realized their friend had been lying about where he was going; he'd been telling them he was going to visit his sick mother. As clever boys tend to do, they discovered he went missing every full moon. And with the help of James' invisibility cloak--they found him in the hospital wing each morning after. Remus was horrified when they confronted him. He thought he was going to lose his friends.
He was amazed to find that they wanted to help. It took them most of three years, until their fifth year to become Animagi. Perhaps Remus should have felt guilty at leading his friends to break (almost) every rule the school had.
It continued when they were out of school. James married Lily soon after they graduated Hogwarts (Finally!) Sirius was being--Sirius. And Remus had his best friends. Until that fateful October 31st. James and Lily Potter were murdered. Sirius Black was accused of murdering Peter Pettigrew, and hauled off to prison. It wasn't until 1993 that he truly felt like he could trust someone again--Lily and James' son, Harry. Remus had been asked to teach at Hogwarts.
It seemed after having such a rough life, Remus Lupin was finally getting something good. He married Nymphadora Tonks (though he was reluctant to do so, and even more reluctant to remain with her after getting her pregnant). He died soon after their son was born.
Now he's here! On Gaia!
