Until he left the mountains he was born on, he'd never seen a human or even knew they existed. So he doesn't think humans are amazing, but neither does he despise them. Having been alone for most of his life, he has come down into the fields surrounding Azreth's Castle to find others to call friends. Dante is young and sarcastic, a stallion who likes to make others smile because of his wit. He generally says what he's thinking and is unused to deceit of any kind. He has a way of sensing intentions which can be unnerving. Dante met a unipegasus by the name of Alu-lote when he first came down into the fields beyond the mountains. The two hit it off well - so well that now they are new parents. Dante is determined that his children will never be as alone as he once was.
Being uncomfortable around human settlements for too long, Dante chose to take Valerio with him to his mountain home, since his son inherited the wings of his parents, and he felt he could survive the harshness of the snows. Upon their return he discovered that not all had gone well in his absence; his gentle daughter had been kidnapped while he was away. While Losa had returned on her own, there was something not quite right in her... He swore he would not leave again, that he could not leave his children to suffer anymore. The reunion of Dante and Alu-lote once again resulted in children, this time the Halloween-cursed pair of Alu Dae and Dorian. While he often did not understand the younger twins, he made sure they knew he loved them always and had his support. He knew Alu-lote would not survive if she lost any of her children again, and so he made a conscious effort to not let the human settlement disturb him. Shortly after she was born, the stallion returned and was so angry the mare had hidden the filly's existence that he killed her, then left the filly to die alone. Avatre wandered as far as she could, trying to find a safe place, before collapsing by a large field where a white mare dreamed. That mare, called Nailah, lost her heart to the lonely filly, and adopted her, encouraging her interests and helping her feel loved again. Avatre grew to love plant lore and healing, and became determined that she would become a healer. When she was old enough, she left her home and made her way to the capital city, where she made a new friend in Mergatroyd and apprenticed herself to a local healer. After Mergatroyd was killed in the attack of the Six, the grief-stricken mare volunteered as a healer to the army. For years now she has immersed herself into the army life, feeling as though she was somehow betraying the memory of her friend if she did not dedicate herself to the cause.
But she has finally consented to taking some time off. Despite being abandoned before he could walk, he always kept faith in the basic goodness of everyone around him. Like the dog the first human he'd met named him after, Mergatroyd was a simple fool, but a loveable one. He treated all Azrein and humans the same, with a general happiness that never dimmed. Though he was gullible to a fault and easily tricked, he never lost the faith that shone through his every action. Eventually, he found his way to the capital of the Isle, which drew him in like a moth at the flame. He enjoyed seeing so many creatures living together in relative harmony, a place where he could be himself and no one particularly cared. A mare named Sora befriended him, bringing him fun things from across the Isle whenever she came to town, and he loved her, despite knowing her caring for him wasn't as great. He simply never minded, pinning his happiness only to the fact that she was happy too. Avatre, a mare he met every time he left the city, became his friend as well, though they were both content with a much more platonic relationship.
Mergatroyd was present in the city when the Six staged their first overt attack against the King. Though he had never been much of a fighter, he used his size and speed to his advantage, doing his best to help several unlucky citizens to escape the area. Unfortunately, his luck ran out, and he died from several wounds taken in the battle, despite the best efforts of the palace healers. Ursula is one such. She allies herself with the Six because she believes their reign will end the world quicker. She disregards bonds even with other Azrein, and despises Azrein who bond with humans more then anything. To Ursula, humans are foolish and weak, and deserving of no mercy.
