 Kessling stepped out of her forest. She felt sort of naked out here, but since a skunk type thing had moved into her cave she was reluctant to return home. And that was okay. She needed to get out and experience the world. Perhaps meet some new azrein. She was nervous in the open. Being a true forest dweller she felt exposed when the hulking trees draped with moss, lichen and vines did not break up her shadow and hide her from others. She was descently comfortable with vampires but perhaps that was because she admired them.

 Serenity was deep in thought as she walked on the edge of the forest. She had plans to meet with her chosen, so that the two of them could discuss what to do about the trouble that was plaguing this world. Serenity was not paying attention to where she was going, her golden hooves making impressions in the dirt. She was so lost in her thoughts, that she ran into another horse by mistake.
"Oh, I am sorry,"she apologized.

"ACK!" squawked Kessling. " I can't believe you didn't see me!" She snarled as her legs tangled with the other horses. "My gosh you are a bright colored creature." Kessling noted as she got a better look at her assailant. She new the mare hadn't meant to trample her like so much dirt but seriously she was not a doormat. Kessling huffed and snorted and then rose to her feet staring down and the bright colored mare. She snarled gutteraly, her poise gone. "Okay I know I am a black mare but it's not THAT dark out here."

Serenity looked down at the ground for a moment, debating if she should tell this other horse why she had run into her. She looked back up with an apologetic look in her eyes, deciding she would explain herself.
"Oh I am sure I would have seen you, if I had not had my mind on other things. I had just been thinking about what is currently going on in our world and I guess I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going. I am truly sorry I ran into you, I didn't mean it,"Serenity spoke, trying to sound braver than she felt. She knew she shouldn't judge by appearances, but the black horse in front of her scared her.

Kessling attempted to toss her long mane. "What do you mean what is going on in our world? I have heard nothing. Though I have been ensconsed in my forest for quite sometime. In is dark and quiet in there. And usually people watch for where they are going." Kessling looked at the mare deeply and then finally decided that she was not purposely trying to run her over. She glanced at the stars ruefully and then focused again on the mare.

Serenity's eyes widened in surprise, since she thought all the Azrein knew about the troubles. She guessed being in the woods for awhile would keep a horse from knowing about what is going on in the world.
"There are some of our kind who do not want to make a bond with humans. In fact, they want the bonds between humans and Azrein to be completely severed. The king is working on training any willing Azrein and their chosen for battle. I suppose it troubles me because humans and Azrein were meant to be together, "Serenity explained.

"How do you know that humans and azrein were meant to be together? I was abandoned by my humans. They beat me because I was not pretty enough for them and then they left me in a rainstorm. Without my blanket. I was brought here one night. Who brought me is a mystery and I have lived by myself ever since. So if humans and azrein were meant to be together wouldn't my poeple have kept me and loved me as they loved their other horses?" Kessling cried, a shimmer of tears covered her eyes.

Serenity listened to the words of the other and when she learned she had been abandoned, her heart was full of pity for her. She couldn't imagine her chosen treating her like that, but then she remembered something she had been told.
"My chosen has told me that some humans are very superficial, preferring to be seen with those that are good looking. I am afraid that must be the kind of humans you encountered, ones who only wanted good looking Azrein. Not all humans are like that, some of them are very kind and thoughtful. I believe the right human must not have found you yet,"Serenity answered.

"They aren't all cruel and heartless? You have proof of this?"
Kessling was shocked. There may yet be hope for mankind. Perhaps the humans who had here were from the bottom of the barrel. It would be nice to be loved for once. She was so lonely. But it was hard to trust after what she had been through.

Serenity nodded her head gracefully to Kessling's question, to indicate she had proof.
"Yes, my own chosen is very kind and sweet to me and most people she meets. I cannot imagine her being cruel and heartless, she has too much respect for life. I can introduce her to you, if you want me to. Then maybe you will see that not humans are heartless with little regard for life,"Serenity replied.

"I would like to meet her but I'm not sure if I am ready. What if she doesn's like me? Will I go back to hating humans and living in my forest? Or will I join a herd in which the azrein have similar paths. I know I am not pretty but there is a limit to the times that that can be thrown in my face before I do something about it. But if you trust your chosen above all else then I must trust her not to behave as others of her species"

Serenity thought about what Kessling said then nodded her head in understanding. She may not have been treated rudely, but she had heard how others had been.
"I trust my chosen with my life, that's how much I believe in her to show how wonderful some people of her kind can be. She has told me about how some people have been mean to her, so I know she understands. She always tries her best to be kind to people, even when they make it difficult. The only people she is usually mean to are those who hurt her or are evil,"Serenity explained.

Kessling took a deep breath. She felt that this was a life changing moment for her. She puffed herself up.
"Yes I will meet her."
The words were spoken with finality. It was time to come out of the forest. It was time to live free and not be judged. It was time to be who she was without chains, fetters, whips or burns.

Serenity smiled softly, glad the other was willing to meet her chosen one.
"Alright, follow me, I left my chosen just a short distance from here, while I was scouting around the woods. I am sure she is worried about me, since I have been gone for a little while,"Serenity answered. Then she took off at a gallop, knowing the other would follow her. She wanted to get to her chosen as quickly as she could.

To be worried about. What would that feel like? Kessling wondered as she followed the other mare. She would have that in a mate too but from a human it would seem so ...sureal. Like she was in another world.
