Feliks and his family, all twenty something of them, were gathered around the table for Christmas Dinner. He was just about to take a bite of food when his phone started going off. Felik's magenta eyes widened as he held a look of 'oh s**t'. He knew the rule about phones and the table. However, everyone he knew knew not to message him on Christmas except for....
Feliks was pulling out his phone as if the thing was about to explode if he didn't look at it. "I'm sorry guys I gotta see what this is. I'll be right back."
"Feliks, what are you doing? Turn that phone off and sit down. You are ruining dinner." His Grandmother scolded in her thick Russian accent. "You know we all eat together."
"Listen to your grandmother!" His father chimed in as the boy walked off leaving his younger siblings and cousins looking confused, while the elders of the crowd looked pretty ticked off.
"I'm sorry I won't be but a minute!" He called back as he read the text that had just been sent to his phone. Brow's knitting as he read it a few times to make sure he wasn't crazy. That was the only thing she wanted? Are you serious? Feliks looked completely unhappy as he read the text again.
How much stuff do you have for the food drive?
If it'd been later that night, or the day before... he wouldn't've thought this seemed like such a stupid request. He was fixing to type a reply when another message came through from Evie Oh yeah, Merry Christmas.
Feliks' cheeks blushed in slight frustation. Are you seriously texting me for that NOW? I have like 20 cans.
He was trying to figure out what else to send to her. She needed to know to only text him in case of emergencies. This went for the whole 'team' that he was still getting use to. So he added shortly behind that. DO NOT text me unless someone is about to die. You've pissed off my family.
Feliks sighed as he snuck towards the kitchen to make sure the cans he'd gotten were still there and hadn't been used for the 'feast'. However, while digging in the pantry he noticed that he was rather short a few cans. Feliks hung his head and sighed exasperated he'd told them not to touch the bag with food drive on it. Well he'd have to make a quick store run.
So moving quickly to grab his coat he moved to sneak out the back door only to be caught by his mother. "And where do you think you're going?" She asked looking very crossed with him.
"Someone used some of the food drive cans. I have to get more." He said returning the look. "Apparently it's due in or something. I don't know. I'll be back shortly it won't take me long to dash to the store, pick up some more cans of food and dash back." He smiled, "I'll be back before seconds. It's just down the street okay?"
He sighed; he should've totally explained how much you do not interrupt Christmas at his house, Especially Christmas dinner, "Save me a roll or two?"
He heard his mother mutter, yeah right as he dashed out the door and down to the corner market which he knew would be open tonight.
