Place to talk about Ancestors and the Ancestor storyline.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 31, 2011 6:57 pm

The Regalant's Story, copy and pasta version:

10:25:00 AM Kelly Nichols: alright so here I go: so there is a seadweller by the name of the Regalant- a very high seadweller indeed, but becomes unsatisified with sea life and the like and decides to walk amongst the land of alternia. there he comes across a bird with a beautiful song, so he captures it and takes it back to his hive. the bird's song brings him happiness, however it is a bird and flighty and eventually escapes.

10:25:55 AM Kelly Nichols: saddened and enraged the Regalant offers a huge reward for the capture and return of the bird and many go out in search of it. no one seems to be able to find this rare bird.

10:27:25 AM zeoiakuesk: o wo

10:28:27 AM Kelly Nichols: the Regalant captures a landdweller troll who specializes in robotics and demands the troll to make him a mechanical bird. the first bird the regalant wouldn't even accept because it was too ugly and nothing like the magestic creature, the second had too long a tail, the third too big a head, when finally the appearance is correct- then comes fine tuning the song. at first it's too mechanical, too computer like- but after a long time- the robotics maker- makes a bird that sounds like the real thing
1
0:30:22 AM Kelly Nichols: however it is still a robot, and like the fashion of all robots in homestuck- it has an appearance of steal and bolts. during the time of the creation of this bird, many other trolls looked high and low for the real bird in hopes of gaining the promised reward. one day a lowly troll comes to the regalant and offers holds out a bird to him. the regalant cannot believe it! it is the bird he has sought!

10:31:45 AM Kelly Nichols: (( ok this is the part where like i feel really awkward of mentioning since i dragged temrin's ancestor into. like i said this is totally up for change and don't have to go with this at all, but i decided i would go with the whole story i thought of. but i just feel . . . bad . . .? for dragging your own character into this . . . orz orz orz ))

10:32:20 AM zeoiakuesk: no no its totally fine, i'm liking it so far xD

10:32:33 AM zeoiakuesk: it also saves me the trouble of thinking too hard about tem's ancestor ;

10:32:37 AM Kelly Nichols: lol

10:32:45 AM Kelly Nichols: ok

10:34:37 AM Kelly Nichols: however when the regalant collects the bird into his hand he realizes it is not real. it is a fake, however it is so masterfully done it looks just like the real thing. he cannot believe it. at first he was enraged, and had the replicant maker thrown into the dudgeon with the robotics troll. the robotics troll was busy making more and more birds as the regalant was unhappy with just one. the regalant thought eventually surely one of these fake birds would finally reach perfection of the real thing

10:36:33 AM Kelly Nichols: however an idea comes across the regalant as he looked upon the remains of the replica. he had shred it to pieces in his rage, heartbroken furry that the replica was not the real thing. he forces the replica maker to work with the robotics troll- one creating the insides (robotics) and one doing the outside (the replicant). and with this the perfect replicant bird is born. it can move, it can sing. the regalant is happy with this and orders and more and more birds be creating by the duo

10:38:40 AM Kelly Nichols: he never saw the two, they were locked away in the depths of his hive, he only saw the birds they created that filled his rooms and dwellings. Their songs echoing throughout the majestic halls. however the regalant soon fell ill. his sickness spread and spread and spread. he was dying. but as his sickness spread, the more birds he collected. the more the songs of the fake birds echoed in his head, drumming, drumming into his wasting body

10:41:34 AM Kelly Nichols: that is when the real bird returned. the real bird came to the regalant, sat on by his head and sang her song. oh! how could the regalant ever have thought the fake birds could produce this music! he knows it at once as the real thing! nothing could ever compare to this song! his heart healed, his body starts to recover and he regains his strength. yet even before he becomes strong enough to leave his room, he makes sure the bird cannot escape- barring all windows and doors. the real bird stops coming to him less and less and disappears into the hive. the regalant is angered at this, but is still too ill to pursue the bird. when he is finally strong enough he rages through his hive searching for the bird and comes across a giant room filled with birds.

10:42:49 AM Kelly Nichols: they all look the same. they all sing the same song. they all flutter the same way. tons and tons of birds lay in this room- all just the same as the next. the regalant is angered, annoyed, and marches down into the depths to confront the robotics troll.

10:44:36 AM Kelly Nichols: the door leading into the cell of the robotics troll is thick and heavy with no windows, the regalant calls out to the troll, not even wanting to look upon the pathetic troll's face. he demands to know how to tell the robotic birds from the fake. the robotic troll mentions that he and the replica troll came up with an idea, that the fake birds will sing the last note of their bird songs twice.

10:45:55 AM zeoiakuesk: i'm still paying attention btw xD just letting you know i'm still alive

10:46:06 AM Kelly Nichols: lol just making sure

10:48:43 AM Kelly Nichols: so the regalant marches back up to the large room where all the birds lay and listens very closely to their songs. finally after long long hours of listening to the birds songs, drum into his head. the only thing he seems to hear is those last notes repeating and repeating which the fake birds do. he finally comes across the bird! the real one! he can feel it's warmth, not a cold robot body. it does not repeat the last few notes! but the regalant is so unsure. the drumming, the repeating, the cadence of the repeating notes still bounce in his head. so he takes a pin and pricks the bird, and blood comes out.

10:51:18 AM Kelly Nichols: he is ecstatic and brings the real bird back to his bed and falls asleep- worn out from this searching. in his dreams all he can hear is the repeating notes, over and over and over and over again. upon waking he realizes it is no dream. the bird in his room is repeating the same notes, the final notes of a song, over and over and over again. outraged he rips the bird apart and as he does so the robotic pieces fall to the ground. it was a fake. a replica. however the mess of wheels and cogs and bolts and fake feathers that lay scattered across the floor- there is blood.

10:53:51 AM Kelly Nichols: pissed the regalant descends the depths and throws open the cell of the robotics maker. there he finds the husk of a troll, sulken skin sucking to the jutting bones. tubes stuck into his arms and body sucking out blood. the regalant is aghast, he wasn't expecting this. the robitcs troll just laughs, a cruel wheezy laugh. so the robotics troll explains that he couldn't get the birds correct. he had tried and gone through many many fake birds, but none of them ever sang the way they were suppose to. until he tried using blood, his own blood within the robotic birds.

10:54:12 AM Kelly Nichols: it was the only way to make the birds just like the real ones.

10:55:52 AM Kelly Nichols: the regalant's anger returns, boiling up, he rips off the robotic troll's head, and has the head pinned to the outside of his hive through the eyes so the squawking seabirds can devour and peck away at the brains and tongue as there wasn't much meat left on that troll anyway

10:58:34 AM Kelly Nichols: he marches into the room with the birds, his anger beyond compare. he starts slashing at the birds. destroying them in a maddening fury, the room turning the color of the robotic's troll blood. the color almost seems to mock the regalant, as if it was the robotic's troll last joke towards the regalant. the regalant is angry beyond compare and continues in his furry. he regains himself later, how much later he doesn't know. the room is splattered in blood and bird parts.

11:00:11 AM Kelly Nichols: and there against the far wall is a splash of different color. it wasn't the same color as all the other blood. the regalant approached and stared at that color. there dripping in this strange blood where guts and bones- real guts and bones. the real bird lay slaughtered, shredded against the wall, died in a furry storm with it's look-alikes.

11:03:43 AM Kelly Nichols: the regalant is at once thrown into a deep dark depression. how could it be! he killed his beloved bird! the real one! he boils inside himself. he sends orders to the remaining troll- the replica maker. however this troll did not make the mechanics of the other replicas. it is but a toy. so the regalant spirals down into his deep thoughts. surely there are more of these birds! just look at all this stiff, still replicas he has! there has to be more! there cannot be just one bird! he thinks to himself. so he prepares himself and steps back into the world, maddened, and crazed. at first he just targeted birds that were similar. if they were not the bird he was searching for, he was slaughter it, then he moved on to any bird that crossed his path, to any creature that crossed his path. their rainbow blood marking his trail as he moved through alternia.

11:06:58 AM zeoiakuesk: i do quite like this story that youve come up with o Ao

11:07:04 AM Kelly Nichols: but there are no free animals on alternia. the ones who live above ground are tied to the trolls. these animals are their caretakers. the regalant wasn't just slaughtering whatever creatures crosses his path, but also lususes, the guardians of fellow trolls. more importantly landdwelling trolls, since the regalant's rampage was on land and not in the sea. the orphaned trolls grew enraged at the murders of their lusus. This grew for a desire of revenge. this hatred, this sadness, this loneliness, this desire rang out amongst trolls- a song that repeated and repeated much and only deepened the regalant's insanity. the landwelling trolls responded and the song, drawing together, forming a single idea towards the seadwellers . . .

11:07:08 AM Kelly Nichols: the end

Development on my Ancestors.
The following is subject to change:

Current Troll: Yazidi
Title: The Gatherer
Name: Goldgaze
Info: One of the first victims of the Regalant's rampage since her lusus was a bird (a peacock). She was the matesprit to the Conjurer (Vivera). Prior to the rebellion she searched the land for books, writings, and other materials about the lost or hidden about troll society. However this is abandoned once the rebellion starts. Goldgaze travels with Eastgrip not knowing his betrayal of the rebellion once the main base is destroyed and the Conjurer dies. However Eastgrip is captured by seadwellers, while Goldgaze escapes. She disguises herself as a man but is selected to be entertainment at the Regalant's victory celebration. There she runs into Eastgrip and is told what happened to him by the Dominion. Goldgaze survives the celebration and renames herself Tealtear the Wanderer.

Current Troll: Vivera
Title: The Conjurer
Name: Fourmind
Info: She is the matesprit to the Gatherer (Yazidi). Extremely happy with her relationship, she wanted it to last forever not to mention she feared for the Conjurer's slightly shorter lifespan compared to her own. She started searching for the legendary Slime of Eternal Life. However becomes involved with the rebellion, spurring the creation of the Pact of Glass where the rebels slash their hands announcing the blood loyalty to the cause. She is eventually killed and beheaded by the Navigate.

Current Troll: Soleno
Title: The Navigate
Name: Eastgrip
Info: Prior to the rebellion owned a ship which he used to explore Alternia. Once the rebellion started he went into service with the Landwellers, using his ship and his internal magnetic compass to navigate around and spy on the Seadwellers. He has a burning deep red love for the Gatherer (Yazidi), who was in a very deep relationship with the Conjurer. This jealously eventually leads the Navigate to switch sides and become a spy for the Seadwellers.

He eventually sells out the location of the main base of the rebellion in return for his safety and that of the Gatherer. He personally kills the Conjurer by beheading her, and takes Goldgaze away on his ship. However he is capture, but makes sure Goldgaze escapes in barrel he powered to go to land with his magnetic power. He never lets the magnetic pole on Goldgaze die, despite him being thrown into a tank of tiny flesh-eating fishbeast. He is taken to the Regalant's victory celebration where he and Goldgaze are reunited. He knows it is her by the magnetic pole still attached to her. The Dominion returns and has him dragged off as his body. There they dump him back into a clear tank of the flesh-eaters and the crowd watches as he is eaten alive.

Current Troll: Asteri
Title: The Wordless

Current Troll: Iretsa

They wanted to use his ability to progress the violence and class warfare on Alternia, not to mention avoid him using it to calm and soothe others. To control him they use Ikanah's ancestor, which Merino believes they are matesprits. However once the rebellion starts the seadwellers believe Merino's ancestor is too dangerous and orders Ikanah's ancestor to kill him. However he just barely survives the attack, and loses many of his memories including those of his powers. He is taken in by the rebellion and comes across the Gatherer's collection of texts. He starts to read them in hopes of finding something about who he was. His two titles refer to before and after his amnesia.

Current Troll: Ikanah
Title: The Dominion
Name:
Info: Is faithful to the Regalant and the seadwellers. She is ordered to watch over and manipulate Merino's ancestor to get him to use his abilities to the seadweller's desires. Later she becomes the personal pawn of the Regalant, carrying out his orders. She is the one who deals with the Navigate and after his betrayal to the rebellion tracks him down. She later has the Navigate tortured and killed for entertainment at the Regalant's victory celebration. She is the one to tell the Gatherer of the Navigate's actions.

Current Troll: Arodon
Title: The Regalant
Name: Birdlove?????
Info: A very high ranking seadweller, who went crazy over his obsession with a bird. He decided to venture out in the world to try and find another bird the same, but ended up killing all the birds that weren't that particular type of bird. This in turn just ended up a mass killing spree of lusus and eventually whatever landweller crossed his path. This caused the landdwellers call for his blood, but the seadwellers sympathized with the Regalant. This led to the rebellion with the Regalant spearheading the highblood side. The Regalant's side ends up victorious. The Regalant as a highblood lives a long life of many sweeps. He ends up living long enough to see his own descendant, Arodon, born. Since the two end up sharing the same lusus, the Regalant raises Arodon with his crazy words.

Current Troll:

Current Troll: Arkusa Navoor
Title: The Deceiver
Name: Fauxgrin
Info: The Deceiver was a very sly troll. Very manipulative. He was good at getting what he wanted. In order to free the replica maker, he formed a kismesissitude with a female seadweller. However, he was too late, and the replica maker had already been killed. Once he found out, he left the seadweller. (Fate unknown?)

Current Troll: Dhevir Serpen
Title:
Name:
Info: Furious when the Observer is killed and sets out to kill the Advocate, despite their strength differences. Neyruu's ancestor stops him before he gets himself killed.

Current Troll: Lelios Cygnet
Title: The Advocate
Name:
Info: The Advocate had been moirails with Dhevir's ancestor for a long time. The two were inseperable. They had their disagreements, but who doesn't? However, things began to turn sour as the rebellion started. At first, the two decided they would keep a neutral stance, but as things intensified, the Advocate became unsatisfied with things. He began to argue with Dhevir's ancestor more and more, saying that if the landdwellers foolishly resisted, then things would only be worse. Dhevir's ancestor, however, kept backing up the landdwellers cause, whereas the Advocate, a strong believer in the hemospectrum, sided with the seadwellers.

The Observer attempted to intervene in an attempt to calm the two down, and convince the Advocate to side with the landdwellers. However, he became frustrated with her persistence and ended up killing her right in front of Dhevir's ancestor. He became furious with the Advocate and attempted to attack the blueblood. However, because he received orders from a seadweller not to kill Dhevir's ancestor, he spared the other troll's life.

The Advocate continued to follow the seadwellers in their battle against the landdwellers, and became confused when he met a female seadweller who had taken the side of the landdwellers. They both tried to convince each other to go to the other side every time they met. Both were very stubborn and continued to follow whom they wanted to. It wasn't until the Advocate saw the seadweller slain by one of her own that he began to reconsider. Shouldn't they have just brought her to their side? Shouldn't they let the superior trolls live? What was the point of killing your own people?

And things only became worse from there. Discouraged by the loss, the Advocate figured he should stop taking part in the rebellion altogether. But unfortunately upon returning to his hive, he found that his lusus also met the same fate as other bird lusii. Now the Advocate had nothing to live for. His moirail was gone. His friends were gone. His lusus was gone. And soon, his mind was gone. Thrown into a fit of rage, the Advocate went on a rampage, killing as many trolls as he could until he was killed.

Current Troll: Nerodi Hydroz
Title:
Name:
Info: The female seadweller that Arkusa's ancestor developed a kismesisstude with. After he abandoned her, she became so furious and set out to search for him. She follows the regalant in hopes that she will find the troll who used her like a fool.

Current Troll: Neyruu Asudem
Title: The Partisan
Name:
Info: The Partisan does not particularly care to take part in battling during the rebellion. Rather she is quite fond of watching the bloodshed. But one troll in particular catches her eye. Dhevir's ancestor. Despite being much weaker, he attempted to fight a highblood alone. Of course, the Partisan was not going to have this and stopped the Advocate from killing him. She sent the Advocate on his way and took Dhevir's ancestor and the corpse of the Observer. She promised him that she would revive the Observer, but it would take time.

Dhevir's ancestor was skeptical, but he went along with it. Anything to bring back his matesprit. He remained hidden from the conflict and waited for the Partisan to revive the Observer. But every time he asked about her, he would get the same answer. "Not yet."

The Partisan grew tired of his questioning her and finally admitted that she was lying. Overcome by anger, Dhevir's ancestor attacked the Partisan and she acted in self defense, killing him immediately. She regretted killing the other troll, as she really did want him to be hers forever. In denial, the Partisan kept his corpse and acted like he was just fine, carrying on conversations with the dead troll for a long time until she finally came to the realization that he wasn't coming back. Once she was finally able to part with his dead body, she fled from the chaos of the rebellion and lived a life away from other trolls.

Current Troll: Temrin Merize
Title:
Name:
Info: Had to work for the Regalant alongside the robotics troll. Unfortunately he could not escape the wrath of the Regalant and ended up getting killed.

Current Troll: Zafira Garraz
Title: The Observer
Name:
Info: When the rebellion started, Dhevir's ancestor refused to get involved at first. However, when his moirail, the Advocate, decided to defect to the seadweller side, things got serious. The Observer watched as the rebellion tore apart their strong moirallegiance. Eventually she finally decided to try to interfere, but the Advocate's stubbornness got the best of him and caused him to kill the Observer.

More detailed backgrounds are in my main troll thread, in the current troll's biography.

Current Troll: Hyloxa Batida
Title: The Abrasive
Name:
Info: He was the Defender's moirail, though he had red feelings for her. She was dedicated to her job, though she was also dedicated to keeping his evil side in check. However, when the rebellion got incredibly intense, she could not keep him in line, and he ended up defecting to the seadwellers. In the end, bitter over what he perceived as rejection, he killed the Defender. As she lay dying, he realized what he had done, and allowed himself to be killed by the trolls who had come to the Defender's aid.

Current Troll: Kinyon Zygoda
Title: The Shrouded
Name: Boldhand
Info: Despite his low blood, he was quite adept at espionage and sabotage. He was hated by the seadwellers because he was so elusive. He was eventually caught and executed, his body torn apart and pieces hung from the trees he hid in so well.

Current Troll: Savona Spelae
Title: The Defender
Name:
Info: Somewhat of a bodyguard, she kept a watch out over rebellion camps, possibly defended and guarded important trolls, such as leaders or strategists. She was the Abrasive's moirail, though he defected to the seadwellers and ended up killing her.

Current Troll: Verici Tangis
Title: The Mechanic
Name:
Info: Quite proficient at crafting and fixing electrical devices, she would create remote detonated bombs and other explosives and booby traps. She had a complex relationship with the Virtuoso, both flipping between red and black feelings. She was ambushed by seadwellers and killed, dying in the Virtuoso's arms.

Current Troll: Acaena Lohika
Title: The Virtuoso
Name: Darkclaw
Info: A fabulous metalsmith, who developed a new alloy that was not easy to duplicate and was stronger than current alloys used, giving an advantage. Survived the rebellion, but became a hermit and kept to herself afterward, devastated by the loss of the Mechanic.

Current Troll: Vitrel Itaena
Title: The Chiseler
Name:
Info: A wealthy seadweller who was disgusted by the Regalant and the attitudes of other seadwellers. Aided the Gatherer and the Navigate on some of their journeys before the rebellion. Joined the land dwellers during the rebellion due to her feelings toward the other seadwellers and feeling drawn to her land dweller friends. Ended up being slain by a seadweller during the rebellion.

Things to note about the ancestors:

If given names (which is not required- they can just have titles), the names often refer to a physical aspect. Examples: Darkleer, Mindfang, Redglare, and Daulscar are in reference to some part of the body.

Also if one of your ancestors is killed by another ancestor than chances are in the modern setting the killing would happen but in reverse. Example: Mindfang killing Redglare. The Summoner killing Mindfang. Vriska killing Tavros. Terzie killing Vriska. However this is only following with the cannon, and the cannon also has instances where this pattern isn't followed.

Also I was thinking about the plot to the ancestors:

I was thinking that Vivera's ancestor finds a piece of glass (a mirror, a gem possibly that Vitrel had, an actual piece of glass) that she cuts herself on. This leads to having the others of rebellion slice themselves as a sign of dedication to the cause, calling this the Pact of Glass. Or maybe the Pact of Glass and Blood. Or Pact of Blood? Dunno. Just an idea.
