Two thousand years ago the land of Krasus was a peaceful place where the intelligent races that inhabited it lived in harmony with all that was around them. Nobody is sure how people first came to inhabit the land, but they are sure that everyone coexisted well within a single shining city known as Kracia. Legends tell of a great day in history known as the Revelation. It was on this day that the five great dragons of Krasus made themselves known to the people. With them the dragons brought knowledge of incredible things that the Kracians could scarcely comprehend. To the great dragons’ surprise, something that the civil races were able to understand was the art and science of magic.
Elated at their find the dragons began to spread the teachings of magic so as to help Kracia thrive. There were five great dragons and each one had complete dominion over a particular type of magic.
There was Dur Vorik the Guardian, the great red dragon. Dur Vorik taught people to harness magical energy from the very core of the planet. With this energy magic could be used to control earth, fire, and metal. This came to be known as Forge magic.
Next there was Kyrisania the Myrmidon, the great white dragon. Kyrisania spread knowledge of how to take the energy of great bodies of water such as the oceans and lakes and use it to manipulate water and ice according to one’s will. This became known as Sea magic.
Then there was Zykariam the Templar, the great blue dragon. Zykariam told the civilized people of Krasus how to use the sky’s energy for magic. With this magic one could control wind and lightning and came to be called Sky magic.
There was Gurusikan the Warden, the great green dragon. Gurusikan helped the people attune themselves to nature and the power of life force around them. This allowed people to harness powerful healing abilities and gain great influence over plants and animals. This power came to be known as Life magic.
Finally there was Sureska the Slayer, the great black dragon. Sureska taught people of the underworld and what awaits after death. With this new understanding of death and the soul, people could begin to cheat these rules and create the strangest of effects in the art known as Death magic.
After the revelation people had the power necessary to spread across Krasus and begin building greater cities than Kracia. Five cities were built, each one named after one of the great dragon lords that had come to be worshipped nearly as gods. Nobody is quite sure what happened after that, but it is certain that a great conflict arose and a great war began. Knowledge of the exact event was lost. But either the dragons came to fear the people’s power, or the citizens of Krasus turned on their lords having gained their power. Either way, the dragons summoned hordes of powerful creatures to wage war for them against the people and their cities. Kracia city was easily destroyed and now lay in ruins. Guru City and Sureska City were the closest to the dragons’ throne in Kracia and fell with relative ease.
It is now one thousand years since the war started and it is still waging. Although dragons do roam the land, nobody has seen any of the great dragon lords since the war began. Which is why the story is only a legend and many don’t believe it. The situation has come down to less of a battle by battle scenario, but more of an ongoing policy of kill on sight between monsters and people. The three remaining City-States, Vorik City, Kyris City, and Zykar City, live in relative peace since they need each other, but they still have their quarrels and tend to compete with each other out of pride. Overall humans, elves, dwarves, and orcs live in peace together within the three cities.
