As Danny stomped away from Rikki’s door she began to feel crosser and crosser as time went on. The more she thought about how stupid he was, the stupider he seemed to become. His stupid flippy hair. His dumb arms. His eyes, jackdamn his eyes. Danny flung a fireball into the icy hallway for no reason in particular. Maybe just anger. Maybe betrayal? She bit her lip. Where was she supposed to go now?

Looking around, she knew she didn’t want to stay at Rikki’s dorm for long. Danny was a runner, and running sounded pretty damn good right now. Maybe she’d find a maceball bat and go smash something. Perhaps she’d burn some furniture down. Gahh! Why the jack was she so angry? Rikki hadn’t done anything wrong… Well … no! No! No he had done something wrong. He had gone to jacking sleep. He had left Halloween in the hands of Edel and completely abandoned her in the middle of a jacking snowstorm.

Funny, snow was not at all like she pictured it. When she had watched shows in Movie Club with her friends, it looked so fluffy! All billowy and gentle, floating down and making nice neat piles. It had looked fun to frolic in and roll around in, like warm coals after running around in the yard. Especially the movie in the asylum, the one with the snow that had turned to ash- that had been so cool! Snow was supposed to be this super cool experience and it just … wasn’t.

This snow jacking sucked. It made her on edge just to be near it (even indoors freaked her out). Every snowflake that came “gently floating to the ground” instantly melted in her heated aura and became a death bomb plummeting for her tail. Every once in a while, a big one would hit her lantern and she would flinch involuntarily. Just because there was a glass screen in between the water and her tail didn’t mean she wasn’t freaking out like always. Of course, one drop wouldn’t put her light out, but what if there were ten drops? A hundred? A thousand?

Okay now she was starting to freak herself out. She took a deep breath. In and out. Okay, this was fine. Even if the newly created raindrops weren’t aimed at her tail, if they hit her skin it felt all slimy and gross and-

Danny shivered. She DID feel better after eating that candy though. All sweet and chocolately … well her only regret was that she didn’t steal Yin’s candy as well. Was it bad to think that way? He didn’t look like he was going to eat it anymore though … Now she was beginning to wonder if any of them were eating their candy. Was Alexander okay? Oh Jack, what about Mitzi? She had been like … dying, hadn’t she? Danny frowned. Stupid Rikki had pulled her away before she even got to check on them! The realization had only just dawned on her that she had completely ditched her friends because of him. Her frown creased deeper.

Come to think of it, Yin hadn’t looked too good after their big, epic battle with the mimic. Aughhh the mimic! Danny’s mind was just going around and around in circles. It was starting to really frazzle her. She was this close to just … just jacking letting everything go and forgetting it all. She was good at that after all. All she had to was … well think about nothing. That came easily.

So she did just that. Her mind flitted elsewhere, away from stupid Rikki and the fight at the dorm, instead choosing to float to Roch and his grumpy expression. He had looked pretty damn worried over Taryn. Maybe she owed him spookies or something. He always was pretty protective of his food. Maybe Taryn had a big bad secret! Like … like Roch was secretly a ghoul or something! Danny giggled at that prospect. No way Roch was a ghoul. Still, thinking of Roch was making her feel better. Unnerved, because she didn’t know why Roch cared so much about Taryn, but happy at the idea that Roch was still there somewhere.

Then again, he could’ve gotten lost in the snowstorm at some point. Danny had chased him as far as she could, but with him shadowstepping, and her being in the snow, it was kind of hard to keep up. What if he had ended up freezing out in the snow? Since she was warming him up that whole time … she was keeping him warm … so it would be her fault? The eerie frown returned to her face.

Miserably, Danny kicked some of the glass on the floor out of the way and put her hands in her pocket. Slowly, she began her way towards the demon dorms, not really sure of where she was headed. She just wanted to go away from here.
