Kyndall was trying to make it out on her own more and more often. Camelot was a safety net, and a good one, her own private instructor in the blossoming world of senshi and youma. But she couldn't rely on him only. She needed to know what she was capable of and did that by trying some nights on her own, hunting down monsters where she finds them and trying her best to do some good. So far she needed a senshi or another knight to help her accomplish anything cause, you know, karate and youma did not seem to be mixy things. Karate and Negaverse, yes. Karate and youma not so much.
Right now she was tracking down...something. A feeling more than anything concrete. She wasn't even following a power signature. Just an idea that there was something wrong here and it was close. As she moved down the proverbial dark alleyway she cursed life's bitter sense of film noir irony and shook her head. As she turned left she spotted a rat youma bent over the form of a young girl where the alleyway dead ended. The girl didn't appear to be beyond help. She was just in time.
The good news? She had the thing trapped.
The bad news? She had the thing trapped.
"Why do I keep doing this alone?"
Her words were enough to get the youma's attention and she felt immediate relief and regret at her choice. She winced, hoping that help might fall cosmically out of the sky like some wish granted. Either that or she was going to lose the youma or get her a** kicked. Possibly both before the night was through. Shalott felt well and thoroughly in over her head.

Help, as it was, was in very short supply. Endy rarely helped, and in this case, he was more upset at crossing the scene of the peculiar signature, the youma, and the girl. Inspecting both ladies, his lips pressed in a frown at seeing that neither one was his darling princess, and here he had hoped those roofs all the way over here. What a damn waste of time and energy?! This whole leaping about was a really piss poor way to find someone, and all the signatures was liking finding a needle in a haystack when you were allergic. Couldn't some underlings find the senshi he needed? Why were they all running around like lunatics? He, for one, did not run around playing bloodhound here.
Watching, as he sure as hell wasn't stuck down with the urge to do anything more than stand on the end, he regarded the scene. Hmm. There could be a way to get directly to the senshi. Now, how much would Beryl hate him for playing with a youma? Then again, if she killed it, it wouldn't come back to her. And again, what the hell did he care? This was nothing more than a dog for the slaughter in his books. Doing a piss poor job too.
First off, Endymion stepped back, out of sight, as he wasn't just going to jump in when the creature was still at full power. Let the girl weaken the vermin and then he'd jump in. He pulled out hsi sword, holding it up and angling to check his reflection. Sharp. Oh, an the sword was rather dangerous too.

Shalott remained oddly resigned despite the fact that she'd never taken on a youma alone. She had some skill so it wasn't that she was worried about. Mainly it was the getting severely injured and having to go to the hospital or dying that worried her. But, this was her duty and though she felt another power signature nearby she didn't think to call for them. That's probably because the youma was trying to intimidate her, growling and taking slow steps forward.
Kyndall wasn't keen on rats to begin with. Let alone big monstery rat pets of the Negaverse.
She looked around for something to fight back with. Nothing popped out nearly as conveniently as the broom had only a week or so prior but she did spot a pipe. Though it was short it would do the trick. She menaced right back, stepping toward the monster and keeping it trapped. Anything she could do to take its mind off the girl was good. Kyndall had to protect her. Even if she wasn't a knight she'd still step in to help because she was a mother and that was someone's baby.
She smacked the pipe against the wall, the resounding sound cracking loud and echoing through the alleyway. The youma reluctantly took a step back and snapped at her. When all at once it pounced she wasn't prepared and tumbled back as it collided against her body. She tumbled back and immediately rolled, instincts of her training taking over. She brought the pipe down onto the youma, much to it's displeasure. It let out a hissing sound.

Queue rescue.
Endymion, prince and savior, leaped down, landing ever-so-perfectly (practice on the important talents revealing themselves) behind the pair and beside the stun-struck girl. Throwing his cape around her, he brought her close. "Is is best not to roam among the shadows. Be careful around those dark places in the world....and in your heart." He patted her lightly on the head. A sweet girl. Young. Like someone....
He took her, princess-style, and escorted her down the street, where he then told her to go. She didn't need asking twice, and soon the girl was gone. Turning, he walked back down the alley, sword in hand. Was he using it? Maybe. It was certainly nice to show he had a weapon.
"The vermin always come among the ruins of a rotting world!" He shouted, directed the tip of his broadsword and pointing it at the youma. "It's time you were exterminated!"

ROSE!
Ok, no, not really. But a dashing costumed man did magically appear in her time of need. He was showy about it, making her want to snicker even in a serious situation. She thought better of that, not wanting to offend her rescuer. He went to the civilian first, as she would have expected. That was her priority, anyway and she was happy to see the girl led away.
She menaced the youma in the meantime, keeping it focused on her to help it forget it lost out on a choice victim for the evening. It snapped at her and she jumped back, swinging the short pipe in her hand and missing almost entirely. The thing bashed against the rat's snout and it snarled, snapping back at her so quickly she barely had time to react. She jumped as it clamped down on the pipe, ripping it from her hand.
Thankfully that's when Endymion came back and she could back away. This monster meant business. The sword seemed to mean business, too, and Shalott was more than happy to let him do his thing. Who was she to stop him if he was ready to do some extermination.
Sometimes wishes really were answered.
((forgive me, MK! I could not help myself with the rose comment))

Youma were a touchy subject, and he had mixed emotions on the subject. The past being tormented to live a life as members of the Negaverse. It was hard not to sympathize, even if he was far more handsome, but a rat? He doubted this one was anyone important, or originally anyone. It seemed starseed created, and he regarded the create with a curled lip of disgust. This one was going to just make a mess of his sword.
The senshi had done her part in keeping the rat occupied, but really was rather lazy in not doing any sort of damage. A pipe? Where was her magic? Her abilities? Her damn usefulness?!
Seeing as he had his training, and this was only just a youma, he went and gestured for her to back up. "You shouldn't take a youma and risk both your lives." He informed her, and then rose his weapon to strike at it.
It was far quicker than he anticipated for a fat rat, and jumped to the side, squealing in pain as he attacked. It lashed out, biting with it's greasy, large teeth. The sound of chomping enamel had his sidestepping, but he could maeuver in the alleyway better than the rat, and went for chopping into it's side.

She watched as he seemed to slide effortlessly into the fight and drew a sword. Holy s**t! Where was she when they handed out weapon assignments? A sword would be nice to have in about 90% of her fights and here she was with a corsage to aid her. Unless someone was allergic and happened to sneeze themselves to death it wasn't on the useful side of the armory.
It's cause she was a girl, isn't it? It seemed like men always got the cool toys because of the nifty phallic imagery but just once she thought it might be nice for a girl to luck out.
She also had to watch as she was scolded and the rat youma attacked. His sword scored a hit on his side. He was right, in a way, and wrong in another. She was a knight, meant to fight things like this and if she never did she'd never learn. Of course she didn't want to die but risking that was better than doing nothing. That's why she'd hoped and wished and prayed for this - to be useful and now she was a sidelines participant with a pipe in her hand.
To prove she could she bashed the youma over the head and heard it squeal again, angry at the pain and indignities heaped upon it. She also gave a pointed look to her would be hero.
"I can think on my feet and I make due with what I have. Not all of us have swords. I do my best."
And, to that effect, she was still alive and had dusted more than a few youma.

The prince jumped back, back hitting the wall as the creature slashed out, but was quickly hit in the head by the girl with the pipe. He flashed a smile to her. "I might have a sword, but it's the true sign of power not to have to use it at all." However, occasion deemed it necessary, and he lashed out, slashing up from gut to side, before driving it in. This did not kill the youma, but did keep it tensed up as it was pinned.
"Now!" He called to her. The head was the best bet to laying this thing to rest.

Shalott watched and couldn't say she disagreed there. The truest sign of a good fight was the one avoided or so her sensei would say. So she believed. However, when fights couldn't be avoided it was nice to have a sword...or a pipe.
She bashed the thing over the head before he could tell her to, seeing him attack and pin the creature. She hit it again after he told her to for good measure, narrowly avoiding snapping jaws and hearing another squealing growl. But then, as suddenly and to her relief, the thing began to break up into dust to return to the state it came from.
She sighed softly. "Glad to have had the help. Thank you. I don't think I got your name."

Dust. It was startling to see them crumble this way, relics from a time long past. It made his spine shiver, but he dusted off his pants to make sure there was no disintegrated matter still left. As long as the youma was dead, then there was no treat.
Introductions in order, he inspected his broadsword before seething it, smiling to the young lady. "We didn't have time."
He rested his hand on his sword. "Prince Endymion." He gave her a short nod. "And you, soldier of justice?"

Shalott watched in relief as the thing began to turn to the dust it came from and would threaten them no more. It was these little victories she counted right now, failing to see a bigger picture beyond protecting the innocent.
A prince? She blinked.
"Shalott, of Earth." She smiled and tried not to look upnerved or like a dopey little girl. She'd never met a prince before and he was every bit as dashing and brave as she might have expected him to be.
"Thank you for the help."

Of Earth. It was a key addition, and he dedicated her name and image to a higher shelf in his memory. His performances were paying off, and he continued the soft smile to the young lady.
"I help where I can, though I only wish I could do more." He sighed as if burdened, before looking to her. "It is nice to meet you, Shalott, especially a knight from my own court."

"It's been a pleasure to meet the Prince I'm supposed to be fighting for."
Or, that was the theory, anyway. She had no idea he was play acting or who he really was. She could only go by what he said and how he introduced himself. She smiled and looked pleased, happy enough that she had the help she'd been looking for.
"I hope you're around the next time I need help. You never can tell when a girl's gonna get into some trouble."
She smiled and then moved to leave the dust behind, scattered in the wind to places unknown.
