I have everything planned out in my hometown.
But I am currently in dorms, so... Crap, I need to come up with strategic plans of survival here!!
I guess first things first, gain access into the kitchen and raid for food.

Vowp i'd find the nearest heavily armed shelter To be honest with you, your idea would be a bad route to take. For the shear fact that everyone else has that on there mind. So when the "heavily armed shelter" says they can't take anymore people on. Be ready for some rioting to begin. If you thought zombies were a problem, what about enraged frantic humans with weapons.

The Masked Defender I have everything planned out in my hometown.
But I am currently in dorms, so... Crap, I need to come up with strategic plans of survival here!!
I guess first things first, gain access into the kitchen and raid for food. That's not a bad idea, just don't run off to walmart. Else you will find that everyone and there mother is there and now you have to defend yourself.

For me personally, I already have a survival bag packed. Not per say for a Zombie Apocalypse, but for anything. You won't see me running off to raid the gun store, because that wont happen the owner is already locked up and armed to stop you. You won't find me running to Wal-Mart to raid the shelves of food, because everyone and their mother will be there. You will see me at the gas-station filling up as many gas cans as I can. You might see me hitting stores that you would think not to hit, like a book store or a pharmacy. You'll see me going into a sporting goods store. But all in all, I have a pretty sound plan for when it comes down to it. If not ill wing it like I was trained.
