"well...the title stats my question. AM I?!
My brother thinks I am just because I like Furs, I am one, and such...
He has called my a freak and more because of it. what do you think?
Makes me feel sad, and depressed every time I think about it and hear it. and I get it form many places...
crying why cant the world just shut up and learn to live , and love you for who you are and not hate you just because you don't fit in there cookie cutter frame of mind.! why!!!!

Okay, I hate to sound cynical, but people do not like things that are different than them. This is an almost universal truth and there's nothing we can do to change it. The biggest problem furs have is that your average Jack and Jill get their perspective about furs from the media. The problem with this is that the media focuses on the minority of furs who like being a fur for sexual reasons. So your brother probably already has it in his mind that furs are "perverted freaks who like to ******** animals and have sex in animal costumes." The only way to deal with this, that I've found, is to show the person in question that you aren't that kind of fur. If you are that kind of fur, then you'll just have to shut him up or suck it up. Furs can be considered a sexual deviancy, the only difference between it and BDSM is that Furs get a lot more media attention, so it's natural for "regular" people to view being a fur as "unnatural" or "freaky".

Well Im not a have sex in custom, ect.. type person nor have I ever.
But I guess your right. but in my defense I have shown him what I like about the furry world and what I am not and he still does not listen but.. ugh idk i guess ill go shut up..

Bro, it's alright, you're not a freak. Sure, you're different than most people, but that doesn't make you a freak. I get called a freak all the time because of my gender identity, but that doesn't mean I'm a freak either. Just ignore the haters bro, most of them don't even know what they're talking about. And the ones that do know what they're talking about are probably just trying to mess with you. Just don't let 'em get to you. ;>

Oh, and one more thing I forgot mention, do not allow your brother's or anyone else's insults to get you down. Yeah they don't feel nice, but thin about how low that person's self worth must be if they have to resort to name calling? Trust me, I've had to deal with people like this my entire life, they're everywhere, the upside of this is that when you find the good people, they shine brighter than the brightest human bonfire. Besides, who are they to judge? Theyve probly got "freaky" traits about them too
