Can you use hair dye the day after mixing it up?

My mum tried that once. It only worked a little bit, at the ends where her hair is lighter. The rest of her hair didn't seem to be any different.

I've always read on hair dye boxes to throw out left over dye.

Boxed dyes, you have to use as soon as you mix the developer and the colour, and then throw out when you're done because it loses it's strength

The box also warns that not to leave that stuff too long or else it could explode,
but I think they just put that warning to cover their a** in the extremely odd case it ever happens.

The one I had said that if you leave the cap on the bottle after it's been mixed and let it sit, it can explode. Which is actually true, the chemical reaction can cause all kinds of weird things.

Well yeah, but usually when people mix the stuff up they use it straight away.
Or at least snap off the little tab on the applicator tip to give it some air.
But yeah, bottom line is don't let that s**t sit around, mang.
