Alexandre walked silently through the vast and densely populated forest that was in the mountains, just outside his cave home, the one he had grown up in as a young colt. It felt odd to him now that his family was completely split up and had moved on to pursue their own paths or in the case of his parents, continue along the one they had begun long ago. He knew it was not goodbye as they were all very close and had a very strong and deep bond with one another, but he still found himself at times a bit sad over the loss of them.
Shaking his head from those dark thoughts he continued on his way through the forest. There is no need to be sad over such things. You will see them again, until then you must find your own path. Alexandre thought, in an attempt to encourage himself to keep pushing through. It was rare that Alexandre seemed to be sad or anything less than serene but, there were the times when it did slip through. Thankfully not many saw it. He never wanted others to feel sorry for him to treat him any less than equal. After all, being blind is usually depicted as a curse.
Alexandre on the other hand found it be neither a blessing or a curse, but if he was to choose one it would be that of a blessing. He had been lucky enough to experience the gift of sight even though it hadn't stayed that way for long. Now he could greater appreciate the wonder that was in the world, something others took for granted. Although, in all honesty he had always been a grade above everyone else when it came to respecting others and nature as well. As a colt his parents had noticed that he seemed to a be a bit more thoughtful of his actions and how they would effect those around him. Something that carried through to his now adult life.
With a smile Alexandre came to a halt, resting his body against the base of a large oak tree. His left wing was pined to his side by the tree and his right wing hung a bit, almost to his knee. He felt more relaxed now. Maybe it was the cool air filling the forest, or maybe even the cold soft ground that flattened with every step he took. Either way, he felt happy.

Macalania trudged through the forest, breathing in the scent of fresh air the trees provided. Her ears twitched at the sound of animals scurrying and birds chirping. Life was all around her and she shuddered with excitement and happiness. It had been a while since she'd felt this way. It had been a while since she had silence. Since her other had been silent. She drank in the moments, clinging to them like she would a log if she was drowning. They would not last, she knew this, but she kept that thought in the back of her mind. No need to ruin a good thing.
Thought it was afternoon, it was dark in the forest, the canopy blocking out the majority of the sunlight. Macalania moved carefully, thanking her crystals for providing her a small amount of light. She checked over the trees as she went past, pressing her ear against them and 'hearing' them. They didn't speak to her, of course. But she liked to pretend. She looked at them and could tell if they were sick or not. If a tree was sick, she sprinkled water on it. The water came from a water skin hung around her neck and it glowed softly. She had made this from her crystals, with slight difficulty. It would strengthen the trees and make them healthy again.
Macalania sighed softly. Perhaps if someone had done this to the forest she came from it wouldn't have died. She shook her head. If that happened she wouldn't exist right now and she wouldn't be able to help these trees. Macalania's thoughts were interrupted when she came across a stallion in front of her. He leaned against a tree and Macalania wondered if he was injured. She stood perfectly still, unsure of what to do. Macalania had not spoken to anyone. She had no need to. She had the trees for friends. They were incapable of betraying her. Other soquili didn't have such noble qualities. Perhaps he wouldn't notice her. She waited.

Alexandre had heard the hoof steps as they approached him had neither moved nor turned to see who it was until he heard them come to a halt. He could smell that whoever it was indeed female. But her scent was much more confusing then anyone he had ever met before. She didn't smell like his parents, nor did she smell like anything he had ever met before. And he had met some very questionable soquili before. Although, most were very friendly, just their body's were more mutated then he had ever known before.
With one final thought he made his decision to face whoever it was that was standing behind him. When he turned his eyes locked onto where the figure was, although they could not make out anything of the creature. All they could see was darkness. "Hello there miss." He said, his wings extending to his chest as he bowed politely, then quickly folding up on his back. As he righted himself he smiled with a warm and friendly smile to the mare. "It's quite a day to be traveling in the forest." He said as he continued to smell the air for signs as to what she was. He wondered for a moment if she was some dark creature like a kalona or a skinwalker, but it was unusual for such creatures to be out at such a time and in an area such as this. But then again stranger things had been known to happen. Mostly to him.
Holding back the chuckle that wanted to unleash itself at this revelation, he instead cocked his head slightly to the left in curiosity for a few moments before straightening it once more. "My name is Alexandre miss..." He finally stated, trailing off slightly in hopes that she would respond in kind with her own name. But then again, he couldn't force her. His thoughts were however more worried about what she was. However, he dared not ask now. That would be rude and rather improper for the moment.

Macalania watched as he turned around and faced her. He looked at her, though his eyes were covered by his hair and his face by a mask. She wondered how he managed to see her with such things in his line of sight. But, she wasn't one to judge and she pushed that thought away. After taking in his appearance, Macalania's first instinct was so flee. She'd not met many besides Adakias and she didn't really know how to act around others. Awkward, shy and afraid of what might happen to her... Or what you might do to others.. the voice cooed in the back of her mind.
Shaking her head, Macalania banished her, placing more restraints around her. "Not now," she whispered to herself. Managing a smile, she eyed the stallion, nodding in agreement. "It.. It is indeed a nice day." Her voice was shaky, barely audible. He seemed innocent enough, but Macalania couldn't get over her fears. Couldn't get over herself.
"Ma.. Macalania." She answered, giving him her name. Her voice was a little louder now. She was slowly calming herself, gaining control of her emotions. She was tired, though. This forest was larger than she thought and the walk had exhausted her. If she stressed herself too much she would come out and there was nothing she could do to stop it. Taking a deep breath, she banished those thoughts and focused on the stallion before her. A distraction.
