It was a rather dreary day in town, and Molly was wandering aimlessly down the streets, her pay from the morning clinking against her leg inside a tiny leather bag. She had fashioned it to her belt in true carefree-ruffian style, which she thought was dash cunning of her, till she came across a couple of young boys who had done the same.
She was untying it and not looking where she was going when she ran smack dab into a lantern post. After a few moments of quiet wincing and tending to her face (if her nose had not already been broken years ago, she would swear it was now off by a few millimeters, but as it was it seemed no further buggered up than normal) she glanced up, and found herself in the front of a clothing shop.
Her brow furrowed as she tried to remember how much she had just earned that morning... Would it be enough for ale and a room for the night if she spent some now...? But then the excitement of making a purchase overcame her, and she headed inside.
Ugh, but everything was so frilly and lacy! She wrinkled her nose, idly brushing some of the skirts with her fingers. Didn't they carry any proper leather coats or belted tunics? Perhaps a good solid set of boots with gold colored laces?

It was a typical day for the little shop located right next to a successful bakery. Plenty of pompous ladies had come in to check the progress of their ordered gowns, as well as to give a few more additions, or perhaps even some subtractions. There were fittings, and measurements taken or re-taken to get, new clients met, and old dealt with. The occasional snob was very much present that day, the first being a merchants daughter who had more allowance than a farmer would ever make in his lifetime. Of course she was mad about a shade of pink being far too flushed for her to wear. New material would have to be ordered and brought in... it was times like these that Nadezhda would curse internally at the 'precious client'.
Folding up the dress that was declined by said customer, who was just making her way out, Nade glanced up as the little bell at the front of the shop gave a soft ring when the door opened earlier than anticipated. Looking up, she saw that a new madame had come in, who was earned a wrinkled nose and roll of eyes from the unsatisfied woman before leaving. Gritting her teeth a little to keep from sneering at the spoiled brat, Nadezhda instead gave a light smile to their new visitor, and made her way on over, folding the rejected dress over her arm to keep it crisp for the time being, "Welcome, ma'am. Are you a new customer?" Nade didn't work everyday, so she didn't get to meet all of those who came in and out of the store. Regardless, it was her duty to make them feel comfortable, and invited. After all, the more who stayed around, the more money promised. She was a little curious from the displeased expression that was on the woman's face just moments ago, but maybe that was from the rich girl who'd just left earlier..

She didn't notice right away when the other woman approached - in fact, she hadn't even spotted the rich snob who had just left, or else she would've inquired about any jobs she might've needed doing around her certainly-splending home. Molly had pride, but when it came to earning her ale money, she was shameless and pushy.
So when Nadezhda spoke, Molly was still lost in thought, and the sound of her words made the fearless ex-piratess flinch like a scared schoolgirl. She looked around, finally realizing who was nearby, and took a deep breath to calm herself.
"Oh! Pardon." It took a few moments for the other woman's words to register in her mind. "Ah! Yes, I'm new. Not a client, well, maybe. Uh."
Blinking a bit, she flashed a grin.
"I'm not one for fru-fru. Got anything more, er, practical? Less.... Skirt-and-blousey?"
Ah, but that wasn't the style these days, and a woman in pants? Gods forbid. Next thing you know there'd be women wanting to work delivering the post and mucking out stables and, oh goodness, taking government jobs. So after another quiet moment, Molly added:
"Or, er, some boots. Some nice sensible leather boots."

Straight off the bat Nadezhda was a bit surprised. The woman seemed a bit... surprised, or perhaps shocked to have even been acknowledged. Was she nervous or something? There couldn't be anything to be nervous about in your typical woman's clothing store, could there? slightly puzzled, but not allowing it to show on her face, Nade continued with the light smile and attentive demeanor, as any good salesclerk should. With information finally given on the woman's reason for being here, she gave a nod in understanding, "We are most certainly glad to have your company then, miss." If you were to spend some money, that is...
She listened to the other woman as she gave her style type, Nade already trying to think of things in inventory they might have to match such a look. There were plenty of plainer looking dresses. Most were on the lower end price wise.. "We have simple dresses with plain colour or design, madame." she offered, slowly walking to the other side of the shop to where a few dresses were hanging on hooks, gesturing to a few that were your normal woman's dress; usually for going out to market, or simply wearing around the house. Nothing over the top, but not to the level of being peasant-like.
However... with the mention of boots, a brow couldn't help but crook curiously at such a request. Boots? For a lady? The only types they had were one's that were of all black, and reached just a little up the calf, with silver buttons to match. Nodding a little, Nade made her way to the back room, disposing of the dress she'd been holding onto, and returning with a rectangular box, "We have a fine pair here, miss. In black, with pure silver buttons. Do you know your size?" she presented the open box to her customer, showing the ladylike boots, and their expert craftsmanship to fit the contour of a slender ladies slim calf. "Is it to your liking?"

Molly tried not to let her expression change too much at the sight of the dresses. They were certainly plain and practical, that was for sure. They weren't what she REALLY wanted though, and she hated wearing the skirt she had on at the moment. In truth, she was wearing a pair of men's pants underneath just to feel more comfortable.
But then the clerk brought out boots. Oh, glorious boots! Sure, most lady's boots had heels and they took some getting used to, but a tight pair of women's leather boots was one of the few feminine things she enjoyed wearing. These were sleek and gorgeous, and while the buttons weren't gold like the ones she had imagined before stepping inside, they were still beautiful.
"Oh!" She beamed, almost not daring to reach out and touch them, but finally giving in and running her finger across one. "They... They're gorgeous! Oh, i'm a size seven. I'd love to try a pair on!"

Nade watched Molly's expression to gauge how she was taking the clothes. Clearly she wasn't pleased. But that didn't make the foreigners face change from the trained light expression she wore. Maybe this just wasn't the type of store the woman normally shopped at. After all, she didn't look all that.. wealthy... simply based off of appearance. But nevertheless, she was a customer.
Nade was pleased to see that the boots brought out a different and more favorable reaction from the other woman. Excellent, so there was something here for her! Smiling a bit more, the clerk nodded in acknowledgement, "I shall be right back with your size than, miss. Please, feel free to take a seat" with the box balanced in one arm, she gestured to the cushioned bench just behind her, before turning to head to the back of the store for the appropriate sized boot.
