Ok, so I haven't been very active in a while. Partly because I've been finding my jazz niche. Used to be a trumpeter... now I'm a pianist. Much better for me. So I have started composing jazz... Now I only have 2 so far, but they can BOTH be found at http://forums.ichigos.com/showthread.php?t=6163 ... So listen PLEASE and comment on here. I'd like to know what I can do to improve my writing... and also, some tips for writing big band jazz. That's 10 times tougher than just writing a combo piece.

well, in all truthfulness, I'm the only jazz composer of ichigo's so far. In fact, I've introduced it to several people, with a jazz improv FAQ... with a lot of the jazz theory and stuff. Modes, and (if you'll forgive the pun) all that jazz. I hope to recruit at least a couple more jazz-heads into the ichigo's bunch, but I don't know. And as far as Classical VS. Jazz, I'd have to disagree. Until just recently I composed classical pieces. And the two jazz pieces, even though posted among an ENTIRELY classical-based group, were recieved much more warmly than the others. Perhaps getting some more people from here to join would diversify the composition category a little. Who knows?
