He was not a stalker, that was beneath him, and anyway he had a good reason for hanging around Kyndall's home in his powered up form. He was waiting for her, not to drain her or for any other nefarious reason, he needed to see her - to talk to her. She meant a lot to him, in ways he could only hope she understood and realized. That night they'd spoken had meant a lot, more to him then he had thought at the beginning of the meeting.

Swallowing he shoved his thoughts to the back of his mind as his grip tightened on the wrapped gift in his hold. He wanted to give her a gift, from Captain Benitoite not Alexandre. He couldn't let her know they were one in the same and he felt like he had to gift her...in both forms as a thank you from both sides of his personality, and yes it sounded like he suffered from mpd. He did think of how odd thinking of his other self sounded, how could he not? Again his thoughts were shuffled off to the back of his mind as his focused once again returned to the front door, waiting for whenever she left. He needed to see her, to thank her properly and wish her the best for the holidays.

Flexing his hand holding the gift his other flexed as well, fingers curling within the leather confines of his gloves. They were one part of the uniform he'd like to keep, they were nice and warm and if he ever wanted t; such as in the summer, he could remove them and be comfortable then too. It was a nice option to have, gloves or no gloves.

"Please come out..." Hidden up in a tree, which he did not climb thank you very much, he sat perched on a branch watching and waiting without making a sound.

Kyndall had her hands full trying to balance organizing the show, the ball, and trying to prepare Christmas for two adults and two teens. That sounded simple enough, in theory, but the actuality of it was proving rather difficult. She didn't know Nathan, at all, and mused what to get him as a gift from both of the Rosens. She was already planning dinner and dessert much to her daughter's chagrin. They'd be breaking tradition this year and eating at the table. In fact Harmony didn't seem to want to be part of the planning at all.

"Oh! Damn!" she cursed aloud staring into her pantry. They were out of those stupid fried onions for the green bean casserole. She'd have to go out to pick some up. No time like the present for that and while she was out she might as well try to rack her brain for a gift a sullen teenage boy might warm to. This was why she didn't have boys herself. She wouldn't know what to do with one. She pulled on her coat and gloves and opened the door to face Old Man Winter.

She had no idea Benitoite was out there or even close by. She would if she was Shalott and the idea crossed her mind because it would be faster and easier to travel or so she was led to believe but she still wanted to do things the old fashioned way. Kyndall and Shalott were different lives. Different identities. She didn't want them to bleed together too much. She imagined this was rather like having magic and wondering how far was too far to go with it.

She'd rather hoped to see Beni, having not seen him since his feline days. She wondered if he was alright and wanted to talk to him. She even had a gift for him under her tree this year alongside the one for Alexandre not knowing the two were even remotely related.

Keeping the two lives separate was hard, very hard indeed. Sometimes the two seemed to blur so much it was hard to tell the two apart, having a friend who was both a civilian friend and a friend within the Negaverse was such an example. Other times it was simply hard when it caused one to miss holidays or had you lying to family and friends, it seemed to have a habit of making sure it blurred the edges of your two lives, as if it wanted your two lives to be one life. It was something he couldn't separate any more than it was, he just tried to keep the bleeding between lives to a minimum - keep the bad out of his civilian life. But here was another example of his two lives bleeding together, giving a gift as an officer to a person he knew as both an officer and a civilian.

Seeing her step out of her house he leapt down from the tree lightly, his heels hitting the ground with a hard, loud, clacking sound. A vibration, from the landing, went up him but he straightened and headed toward her. Blond hair danced across his face as the wind played with the free locks of ash blond hair. "Kyndall..." A greeting spoken loud enough for her to hear. "I've been waiting for you." The wrapped gift he had was at his side, held tightly to his side by one gloved hand.

"I'm glad I didn't have to wait longer." Though it did mean she had to go out and face the cold of winter.

Funny that he should show up. She’d been thinking about him and now here he was, seemingly out of now where. She jumped as the fall from the tree didn’t seem to phase him but was high enough he should have broken something if her were a civilian. She hadn’t tested the limits of her own powers very much yet, cautious and wanting to be hurt as little as possible. Still, Kyndall smiled at him and rushed down the stairs off her stoop toward him. The first thing she did was take a look and admire him back in human form. Then she hugged him like a mother welcoming her prodigal son home.

You look better.” She told him slyly, a smile of mischief on her lips. “Why have you been waiting for me?

But then she remembered she had something inside for him and told him to wait where he was as she disappeared for a minute or two and then reappeared with a small gift wrapped very simply in a white bow and metallic silver ribbon in curls. She thought he’d be able to appreciate that. She offered it out to him feeling foolish for getting him a gift when she knew he was on the wrong side. The knight in her balked at the idea of encouraging the enemy and yet she knew he was a gentle soul.

It was a simple silver pin inside, shaped as a vine of ivy with a large leaf and then some smaller ones behind it as it ascended. On the edge of the largest leaf she had her name etched, so he could think of her. It was a light engraving, impossible to read from far away and looked like the contours in the leaf itself. Perhaps it was a little feminine but she hoped he liked it. And she wanted to remind him of the people he was fighting for to keep his humanity a little closer to home. She didn’t want him to turn into a killer. Other had and it scared her to think she’d have to fight them and make those types of choices. Could she kill if she needed to?

She shuddered to think.

He had a good amount of power, which afforded him the ability to do certain things which he couldn't do as a civilian. The jump from the tree was one of them, one which he was glad for. It let him jump down from trees or buildings so he could keep himself up high and not on the ground where anyone could get at him easily.

"I feel better." The lack of short fur and ability to wear proper clothing, to keep warm in the winter. Yes, he felt a lot better. Before he could answer why he'd been waiting she took off back into the house. Watching the door he stood on her stood step waiting for her to come back out, wondering just what she was up to.

Surprise flooded him, showing in his eyes, he was not expecting a gift from her but appreciated it none the less. In fact he held up the gift he'd gotten for her. "This is why I'm here." The gift he held was nodded to, while his eyes trained themselves onto the gift she'd gotten him. "You thought to get me something..." Clearly he was surprised but touched, his voice and eyes gave that away all on it's own. "I got you something as well, I think this should be something to your liking." He knew enough about her, so he hoped he'd done well. He hoped he'd done well as a civilian also.

When he opened the gift, slowly, a gasp actually passed his lips. It was delicate and while feminine it was perfect. He didn't get the meaning behind it, at least not consciously, but it was a reminder of her and that even as an agent of the Negaverse he could make connections to civilians. "It's beautiful, your taste is something to be appreciated and it's unsurprising." He wasn't shocked she had good taste at all, he had seen her that night in the art gallery, and later in the schools auditorium. "I only hope my gift shows as much taste as yours does."

While she questioned if she could kill he knew he could, physically, but mentally he couldn't. He suffered for it, less and less but he still suffered. She would one day have to fight children, teenagers, maybe even students of hers. And he didn't know of that which she faced.

She took the gift handed to her and smiled, turning it over in her hand and wondering about it as she waited for him to open his own box. His reaction to something she’d considered simple and decorative delighted her. She liked to think she was plenty aware of his tastes and his style if his costume was any indication. She much liked the color pattern he chose and the simple but elegant lines and look. She took the pin and pinned it to the collar of his coat, pointing to the corner of it like a proper adornment. There it would be visible but out of the way.

Her hand strayed to his cheek and she smiled fondly. She really did care for him in a profound way.

I’m glad you like it. I have something similar that I wear occasionally in my hair.

The silver comb she was referring to was small and in her jewelry box. She wore it occasionally when her hair was up and fancy because the silver complimented the green coloring. She didn’t have much of a cause to wear it very much anymore but the next time she went anywhere that called for fancy dress like an art show she’d wear it and think of him.

You didn’t have to get me anything, Benitoite.

Of course he didn’t have to but obviously what’s done was done and they’d both had the same thought. She opened her package slowly, trying to be neat about it since they weren’t readily near a trashcan and she wasn’t much of one for littering. She opened the box and looked inside for a long minute or two admiring the gift he gave her.

It’s lovely.” She breathed, a smile brightening her face.

Watching her pin the decoration to his coat he hoped it would stay, maybe show up each time he powered up. He liked it, it was nice and it fit his uniform in ever way possible. Leaning into her touch, a light smile in place. "Do you, it seems it would fit you." Glancing down at his new adornment, it was in a good place. It looked like it belonged really, like it had always been there.

"I did, you were what I needed -- what I still need." He added as he looked the green haired woman in the eyes. She really had given him something so simple and yet so meaningful. He'd had the comfort from her which he could not get from his own mother, he could never tell his mother what was going on or let her see Benitoite. She simply couldn't see his other self.

Gently, almost as if he'd break it, his fingers raised to touch the pin. Finger tips traced the decoration while he watched her open her own gift. "I'm glad it's to your liking. I was unsure at first what to get for you. I don't know you as well as I'd like when shopping for you. So I did some guessing."

((I'm leaving the gift here up to you love.))

The bracelet was thin and delicate and shone like a thread in the light. That was its main purpose, she supposed. The thin chain of silver was magnificent. She held it higher, letting it glint silver a few times before draping it across her slender wrist. It almost blended in soft and delicate on her skin, every so often catching the sun. It was breathtaking and she smiled at him for it.

It’s lovely, Benitoite.

She wasn’t surprised by his taste. He seemed the type to think of something like this. She’d wear it to the ball in a few months. It would compliment the simple and elegant dress perfectly. And the silver embellishments Tony and Benitoite gave her were beyond perfect. It’s as if the universe was conspiring to give her a perfect evening doing a good deed. She prayed and wished for it as hard as she could.

I know I’m not supposed to ask.” She began, looking at her adopted son/friend. “but I hope I see you occasionally, out of uniform.

If it was true Tony had a civilian form and she did, too, then it stood to reason Benitoite did, too. She liked to think she knew him in his other life, that she made a difference to him. Her violet eyes looked into his and she hugged him tightly. She really did love the boy and hoped that no matter what happened he’d always be the gentle soul she saw in him now.

Silver in color it may be but it was white gold, his preferred choice of metal, aside from platinum. He wasn't such a fan of yellow gold, he didn't think it looked good against his own skin. Though there were some people, those with darker skin, where he thought yellow gold look better but for Kyndall she was too pale for it in his opinion; hence white gold.

"I'm glad you like it, I did consider other ideas along the same vein. I settled for simple and delicate. I thought it most fitting." He didn't know he was helping her with an outfit for a ball, in a few months, were he to know that he'd be even happier with his decision on the bracelet.

"Ah, you may have met me and not known it. Or if not we will...but I can't tell you. I can't let anyone, but those such as myself, know both my identities." And that was one of the hardest parts of this, keeping it from certain people like his own mother and father.

Surprised by the hug he let his own arms wrap about Kyndall, slowly. His hold on her tight bu not too tight - an embrace. "I'll see you at some point, as a civilian. I just can't tell you it's me. But know that we will meet." Already had but they'd met up for something soon enough. She really was someone he needed in his life, both of his lives.

She nodded, satisfied by his answer. She'd asked the same thing of Camelot, once upon a time. She had no idea how close to him she'd actually been, balancing a friendship between his two lives. Now that burden was her own to share and emulate. She was now keeping her own separate life from Benitoite, her friends, even her own daughter. She understood why he couldn't share that part of himself with her. After all, they were on different sides. That part pained her.

She closed her eyes and hugged him a while before letting him go. The bracelet dangled from her wrist and glittered in the light of the moon. She admired it for a moment, touched. She was getting all sort of surprising and touching gifts for Christmas that she was amazed and grateful.

"Benitoite, thank you. For everything."

She liked thinking they'd meet and know eachother. That such a friendship was possible beyond faction lines.

If only he had a clue that she understood, finally, just what he was going through - the pain and turmoil. He couldn't tell his mother, or his father, or Lily and her family, which was so much like a second family. It was something he'd pity her for knowing, lying to a daughter somehow seemed different from lying to your parents. Perhaps it was because the child you were to look after and the bond seemed like for the parent it should be stronger and lying weakened it. But he felt bad, on his end, being the child lying to his own parents especially his mother.

If only he had a clue she was now in on this whole war as well, he would hug her even tighter than he did now. "Of course, I'm here to server and protect." The civilians that is, though who could tell the civilians he sought to keep safe could actually be the enemy and he was helping them as well. That was the whole reason he didn't date, couldn't date.

"I'll have to get your something for whenever your birthday comes. I'll have to find out...." Asking her, without asking her.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 11, 2012 11:18 pm

"It was last week." she told him softly, realizing for the first time that her thirty-fifth birthday had come and passed unmarked. It usually happened like that so close to Christmas but she thought Harmony would have remembered and said something...oh well. They'd both been through a lot of changes this year so she guessed she couldn't blame them both for forgetting.

She couldn't tell him how she'd changed or what had happened to her. Short of Tony and now Minny no one knew her secret identity. She was terrified of someone catching on (how many green haired women could there be in Destiny City?) but she'd been told magic prevented identification. She'd seen it in Tony because she hadn't known it was him until he showed her. That was convenient as she had qualities that stood out.

She trusted Beni, though, and knew in his heart he thought he was doing the right thing. She just knew that maybe it wasn't. All she wanted was peace. No factions, no children pretending to be superheros, no fighting or monsters. Peace. Was it really so hard to understand?

"I am, too, Beni."

"Oh!" He hadn't known, and why should he expect to? He didn't know Kyndall well enough to have ever asked, and wasn't it said that asking abut age (or anything related to it) of a woman was impolite? He'd have to rectify the lack of a birthday gift, but with what he didn't know just yet. He'd find something, perhaps a surprise gift left in her mail box with a single tag on it so she knew it was from him. He couldn't very well give her a birthday gift in his civilian form, as he had no way as a civilian of knowing her birthday. So it would have to be done this way.

That was one good, and bad, thing about this whole double life thing. No one knew who was who for sure. There was no way to make the civilian to nega/senshi/knight connection. It was good as ti kept them safe but socially it was no good, never knew who you were really making friends with. If only he knew several friends of his were senshi, and a few of them he'd fought. It was ok, in his mind, to risk it with friends but not when it came to a relationship. He could always hold his friends at a distance, it wasn't like he would go on dates with friends and such. Where as a relationship the two were closer to each other, and that risk was too much for him to take and not being able to trust that the person wasn't involved in this war. It would kill any relationship before it could ever begin as far as he was concerned at this point in things.

Blinking, as he'd gotten lost in thought, he caught her last words. She was too...Oh! Protecting the people? By being a citizen and speaking up at that town hall thing? That's what he assumed she meant. Never did he think she was involved in this whole mess of a war, considering how she'd reacted to their first meeting and him filling her in on what had happened - as far as he'd known at the time. Though she could also be speaking as a mother. Either way he didn't take it like she likely meant it, he'd never figure her for a knight.

"I should be going, I have rounds to make. But I wanted to give you that." Motioning to his gift to her. "And thank you for the meal when I was in a less than pleasing form."
