Christmas day should have been a day for family, a day for sitting around the tree and eating cookies…for once not worrying about getting fat. Instead, today Raven was walking outside, heading back from the only grocery store that had been opened, a bag of food clutched in her hands. How had her parents managed to completely forget about Christmas dinner was completely beyond her. Honestly, sometimes she wondered if they remembered that they even had a daughter. Well, of course Raven hadn’t turned out completely as they had wanted. She was bright where they were dark, and angry where they were only forgiving.
Maybe she had been adopted. It would explain so much. Or switched at birth, even.
The blonde sighed and drew an arm up, rubbing at the opposite arm, giving a little shiver. It was cold out today, and she was ready to get back home and start trying to cook this dinner so the family could at the very least try to be together on Christmas. It was the least she could do.
Nobody could say she didn’t try to be the loving daughter in the family.
Her pace quickened some as she walked along the side walk, still trying to keep herself warm.

Eric had gotten a jacket for Christmas and was getting good use out of it already. He was sitting on a street corner, cold fingers plucking at reluctant guitar strings. It was a good day to be alive.
He was playing Christmas music for the people out and about, though there weren’t that many they were all generous, and his guitar case already had a decent amount of coins and dollar bills in it.
He had just started another song when he saw the blonde coming down the street. He seemed to remember seeing her in the surrounding, though not much. He couldn't remember her name either, but he was singing anyway, so he just gave her a short nod to indicate he recognized her as he kept singing.

There was always bound to be people worse off then you, even on Christmas, and even if your family was a bunch of nutters that forgot it was the biggest Holiday of the year. The poor redheaded guy with the guitar must be one of those people who was worse off.
It was Christmas, and everyone should have been home. What better place was there to be, right? If you had a home to go to, why shouldn’t you be there. Raven…was at least heading to her home to get her dinner ready. She paused as he nodded to her, giving a look. Was he trying to check her out? Was that what that little nod was for?
Uck. No thank you. She wasn’t in the mood for homeless people to check her out, no sir.
Wait…he was homeless? She thought this through, thinking that maybe right this second would be a good time to just Lesath herself up and use this redhead as a Christmas present to Ares…Who wouldn’t love a mirror full of homeless guy. Singing and dancing homelss guy. Wahoo.
But, then again. It was Christmas. She should be kind to the less fortunate. Jett was doing that, right? And he had started her on getting some cans for that little friend of his…why, she had picked some up at the store.
The blonde sighed then and put on a smile. “Merry Christmas. I don’t suppose you’re hungry at all, are you?”
So maybe Jett wouldn’t get these cans. She’d give them right to this guy. Someone who needed them for real.

Eric paused looking up at her, a smile on his face.
"Ah no, that’s all right. I've got half a grill cheese still at home, I’ll be all right. But thank you miss, I appreciate you concern. Merry Christmas to ya."
He was going to go back to playing when he thought, ironically, about Jett and his donations.
"You know, there are drop off places for that stuff around the city. A friend of mine and I did a little collecting earlier this month."
He thought back to that day, he hadn’t called Jett to hang out like he’d meant to. Oops
"Would you like a song though? I know some good Christmas jingles."

Raven raised a brow and shook her head. “Half of a grilled cheese? How long will that last? Five minutes? Come on. You’re homeless, so I’ll give you cans. I’m helping out for the food drive too, and I figure, why not cut out the middle man and just give the food right to the person who needs it.”
There went her secret plan, but whatever. This guy seriously needed to just take the food and let her get home to start cooking her dinner.
“I don’t need any um…’jingles’…” She hesitated. “Well, if you wanted to play one, I guess that wouldn’t be awful.”
Then she could tip him with a few cans and be on her way. Wonderful.

Eric tried not to look too taken aback; this girl was laying it on strong. She was not going to take no for an answer, to he resigned himself to the idea that he would have to take her cans and then donate them for her later.
When she accepted a song from him, he perked up.
"We'll, what would you like to hear? I know most of the old classics and some of the new stuff too. I've also been told I’m a good singer, but I'll let you be the judge of that."
He just loved spreading holiday cheer, even if the recipient was only grudgingly willing to receive it.

Raven just shrugged, glancing up at the sky. The stars looked really pretty tonight…
She glanced back down to Eric and shrugged again. “Maybe…Silent night? I’ll give you some cans as your tip…keep them, okay? It’s Christmas, and you should have more to eat then just half of a grilled cheese sandwich. Also, if you have a home to go to, you should be there. It’s too cold to be out here all alone.”
The blonde sighed and ran a hand through her hair. “So, hurry up and sing me my song, then go home, and I’ll go home to my family. It’ll all be good then. Okay?”

Eric shook his head.
"If I go home, I’ll be there alone. Here, I get to bring Christmas joy to anyone else who happens to be out and about today. It’s not really a hard choice, and I don’t mind the cold much. I got this new jacket from my mum today and it works like a charm, see?"
He demonstrated by raising an arm, modeling the jacket to her.
"So let’s see then, Silent night? Simple enough, here we go."
He started to play silent night, singing softly to accompany his guitar playing. His breath makes a fine mist in front of him.

Raven listened, and had to admit, however grudgingly, that he wasn’t that bad to listen to. He had a nice voice at least. By the end of the song, Raven was smiling softly, swaying just a little to the music.
After he finished, she cleared her throat, then drew three cans out of her bag, placing them in his guitar case. “That was lovely. Thank you very much. You have a good Christmas, okay? Try and get a good dinner, really. Stay safe and keep spreading your cheer and stuff.”
She gave a little wave, then hurried away, the cold having numbed her hands, and her stomach having started to rumble with the wanting of some food.
She decided that if she ever came across this guy while gathering energy, she’d leave him alone. He was trying to do some good for the world, no matter how small that good could really be. She wouldn’t stifle that.
Dinner time now.
