Having a bit of company with him had certainly Lifted Kerke’s spirits a bit. It was nice having someone else to talk to, especially someone who seemed to actually enjoy his company. The thought of a cheetah pride crept through the back of his mind, popping up every now and then to be mulled over by the tri-coloured male. It was certainly an interesting concept, but he continued to push it back. It seemed to him but wishful thinking at the time. “There has to be something to eat around here. Let me know if you see anything roaming around Zaria! I’m sure I saw a small herd of antelope around here earlier. They surely didn’t more to far off..”

Kerke glanced back at her, smiling lightly. She was certainly trying her best, however before he could say anything his head jerked around, ears perking forward. He could hear them, the herd. They were moving quickly, running from something, but instead of the sound getting further away it seemed to be coming right at them. The male cheetah took a step back, eyes darting from side to side to try and find them, and then they were there. This was not the same herd though, it was bigger. They barreled up over a rocky hill that had been hiding their location from sight and were heading straight towards them. “Here they come, be careful!” Kerke ran forward at at the sight of him most of the herd started to veer to the side, away from the oncoming threat.

Kerke spun as part of the herd broke off, continuing their path which was unfortunately straight at Zaira. “Move!” The thundering of hooves likely muffled his yell as he charged towards her. The female merely crouched there as the animals trampled past her. So far she had luckily been missed, but he feared her luck may run out. Kerke charged straight at the running antelope, managing to pull himself astride one. He sunk it’s claws in to it’s hindquarters. The beast let out a yell and attempted to turn away, it’s course veering away from Zaira. The two toppled over, but Kerke was faster than the beast. On his feet and at it’s at. The antelope fought, but soon lost the battle as it’s body stilled.

With the danger passed Kerke spun and took a few steps towards Zaira. "Are you alright? Did any of them step on you?"

Kerke gave a soft sigh of relief, glad to hear that she was alright. “Glad to hear you are alright.” He had been silently worried that one might have gotten past him and harmed her. Maybe not seriously, but he would have felt quite awful if he had taken her out to hunt and then got her harmed, and by the prey no less.

With a soft smile he walked over to her and sat at her side.“Nonsense, I am sure there must be something that you are good at. Perhaps you just haven’t found it yet. There is surely something out there that you can do, and do better than anyone else!” He gave a gentle nudge to her shoulder with his nose. “It was certainly no problem, I couldn’t just stand aside and let you get trampled. Come now, we caught a nice meal so lets go have some of it. I’m sure something in your belly will make you feel better.”

Kerke got up and walked slowly over to the felled antelope, glancing back at Zaria before he sat down beside their new meal. She didn’t seem completely convinced to him that there was something she was good at, or perhaps he was seeing things that weren’t there. He did truly believe there must be something she was great at. “Come now, let’s eat. There is a delicious antelope just lying around. Best to eat it before some scavenger comes along and deides they want some too.”
