B'nen had watched his brown dragon grow larger every day--and oiled that bulk more than once every day too!--but it still caught him offguard at times how big Gneisth had gotten since he'd first tumbled out of his egg. Now the large brown was gamboling his way down to the weyrbowl's lake, happy bugle proclaiming his presence along with the faint shaking of the ground near the dragon's steps.
The promise of flight was terribly enticing, but Gneisth had really taken to preparing for it. His short memory wasn't an obstacle, as they were reminded of it only just about every day in lessons now. "You'll need to rely on your straps entirely in flight, so don't cut any corners with mending." "Don't forget to run through your drills on the ground to prepare for wing exercises." "Remember to strengthen your dragonpair's wing muscles in preparation for flight." It was getting to be almost ridiculous now, and B'nen found himself wishing more and more they could just get in the air already. But then he'd miss out on the opportunity to see his dragon act so silly, launching himself into the water once something of a dive once it was deep enough to do more than simply wade in.

K'en too was often quite amazed at how large Stromath had grown. He had already been big simply coming out of his egg, but now the young bronze made for a rather impressive sight. It took a lot longer to oil him these days, but it was well-worth it in the end. A bit of extra time oiling was a minuscule price to pay for such a perfect partner. Of course, their dragons still had a good bit of growth left to do before they reached their full size, so oiling at that point was sure to be quite the interesting task.
Currently he and His were following Gneisth at a more leisurely pace as the four of them made their way down to the lake, amused at the brown's usual antics. Careful of the cloud cover, Stromath 'warned', still amused as the other dove so readily into the water. He couldn't blame him for wanting to practice though. Even he himself was looking forward to being able to fly through the air. It was an important thing to prepare for.
Flight was something that all of the Weyrlings were looking forward to doing, and rightly so. It wasn't every day that someone had a 'first flight' with their bonded. Still though, they were quite a ways off from that event. First they had to make sure their dragons were strong enough for it. "I think Gneisth is getting a bit of a head start on us all, B'nen. Perhaps we should walk a bit faster."
