“I wanna wish you a merry Christmas, I wanna wish you a merry Chirtsmass~” Marcus was singing under his breath and he carried a basket full of a certain variety of baked goods around. Cookies fresh from the cafeteria, a nice package of them for each of his fellow trainees. He hoped he’d gotten enough. That nice little old lady had beamed at him and let him take as mannnnny cookies as he wanted. Which meant he could take a ******** ton of them and give them to people because sharing was caring and oh god-

His singing was put on hold as he ate one of the cookies he’d saved for himself. Oh god it was like the world got a gloss sheen of magic and wonder. Rounding the halls, he knocked on one of the doors to a trainee he didn’t know. “Hellllllo~ I wanna wish you a merry Christmas~” With cookies. Drugged cookies. Marcus was most definitely looking out for his fellow hunters.

You know, Wilson couldn’t remember why he hated Rubik’s Cubes. They were simple in design yet entertaining for hours on end. He recalled a few days ago dropping his toy and a piece popped off. Now why would he treat it so roughly? He was just so happy to be fiddling with his Rubik’s Cube. In fact, Wilson was pretty close to solving it! Deep in concentration, he spun the cube back and forth, staring at the two squares that just didn’t belong.

A knock on his door had the trainee jumping off his bed and happily opening it. “And a happy new year~” Wilson finished. He paused, staring at the moon hunter. The first thing he noticed was that he had seen this guy before. Hmmm. What was his name? His face lit up. “Oh, hey Marcus!” Then the second thing was the spiffy new coat he had. “Hey have you always worn that coa---cookies.” His expression turned unusually serious as he pointed to the basket and then to himself. Those were cookies from the cafeteria, right? Wilson could have a bag, right? Right?

Sorry Wilson, those two that didn't belong would be their to stay for a while. When the death trainee opened his door, Marcus beamed. "I have presents!" Trigger word, hello. "Cookies, still warm even. They are so good. So. Good." A bag lifted into Wilson's hands. "I'm Marcus, and I am making sure evvvvvvveeeerrrrryyyyyyoooonnnneeeeee gets some cookies." Was there any reason to carry on like that? Hardly.

"But Hi. I think this is the first time I have met you other then in passing when there are dead things and we get sent on missions. Why do you wear that gas mask though? Doesn't it get uncomfortable or remind you too much of the trials?" He felt the urge to give him a hug. So Marcus gave Wilson a hug. "The trials sucked."

Trigger word indeed. “Presents?” It was like waking a sleepy dog with delectable treats. Wilson was on high alert and if he had a tail it would be wagging excitedly. He nearly drooled as Marcus described the cookies. Wilson could not resist baked goods, especially warm, delicious ones. He appeared deeply moved when he gave Wilson a bag of cookies. His bottom lip wibbled. “I’m incredibly touched! What a noble mission to embark on! I’m Wilson, by the way.” [Are you high?] Yes. Wilson was high on JOY.

“I don’t like dead things.” He frowned at the thought. His frown became even deeper at the mention of his mask. [Oh for the love of—I thought we had this worked out already!?] “The mask is part of my weapon.” Wilson happily returned the hug as he let a single tear roll down his cheek. “Yeah. The trials sucked very much.” And then he silently opened the bag to nibble on a cookie. “Oh God these things are so good…”

Trigger wooorddsssss. Yes. As Wilson was touched, so was Marcus. His kind words touched him deeply, and not in way that would mean he needed an adult. Just warm and fuzzy feelings and HUGS. Arms set his goodies down as they briefly wrapped around Wilson. "You're welcome!" Hugs for everyone! All the time!

"A mission? No... I did this because it feels good. Why shouldn't it? Cookies and hugs and they are presents who doesn't love presents they would have to be even more insane than Julie." And in a bad way no less. "But no there will be no dead things now. Just presents. Lots of them." The mask was part of his weapon. Maybe it was a face hugger! Such a nice monster to hug his face all the time.

"Showing another bag at Wilson Marcos broke into his stash. "mrffmm murf mllgr mus." What did that translate to? 'What's up with you?' Cookie was a very universal language.

Always hugs. Never not hugs.

Wilson looked even more moved, a hand pressed to his heart. “It’s not a mission? Then that makes it even more noble! You’re doing this out of the kindness of your heart.” He could’ve broken out into joyous tears right then and there, but fortunately he didn’t. “I’m sure Santa is very proud.” Wilson gasped, horrified by the very idea that someone could not love presents. “Does such a person even exist?” Julie was pretty cuckoo. He couldn’t imagine someone being crazier than her. “Presents! Presents are always good. Especially lots of them.” Unfortunately, Gramps was a very cranky weapon despite his face-hugging ways. It made Wilson QQ and wonder why he was such a Scrooge.

He curiously took the second bag. More cookies? Awesome! Luckily years of cookie-eating had made Wilson very fluent in the language of Cookie. “I’m good. I was fiddling with this Rubik’s Cube I found in my stuff.” He shrugged as he nommed another cookie. Cookies were obviously more interesting than a colorful cube.

Wilson you were amazing. This day was amazing. Cookies were amazing.
It was all amazing.
"Santa probably is. These cookies are like drugs!" He held one up before ungracefully shoving it into his face. So good. "Mmmrf! Mmm mi mean yes." He nodded. "Presents are the best. Do you have enough? One can never have to many presents." Unless you were Marcus with a basket full of them. "But I don't anyone who dislikes presents exists, they are probably dead from a lack of presents. Present deprivation. Yeah. That seems likes a plausible death right?" In his head, Dis was asking him how that even worked. Marcus thought it had to do with not having a Christmas spirit...or not having a spirit at all. Monsters.

"Ohhhhh A rubik's cube? Can you solve it? If you can solve it in a minute I'll give you another present!" Could Wilson do it? Could he solve the puzzle... for presents?

No no Marcus, you’re amazing, as amazing as Christmas presents, which are pretty darn amazing.

Wilson briefly frowned at the comparison. “The good kind of drugs, right?” Schools always liked to preach against drugs, and they always cited the hazardous health effects—although at the moment he was kind of curious about the psychedelic visual effects people got from taking a few shots. He stared at his bag of cookies with suspicious eyes. Would eating these cookies give him a psychedelic high too? Probably not, but he forced another cookie into his mouth anyways. Cookies were great, drug-like or not.

“I have some presents, but—“ His expression turned unusually serious. “—you’re right. One can never have too many presents.” Wilson shook his head at the thought of death by present deprivation. That was certainly not a death he wanted to suffer.

The mention of ‘present’ had Wilson’s full attention. “You’ll give me another present?” he repeated. As he ate another cookie he turned around and walked over to the Rubik’s cube to pick it up. “For real?” He grinned. Wilson had no clue how fast he could solve this thing, but he had been getting pretty good at it recently.

Marcus nodded. More present give? YES! Plus he wanted to see how fast the guy could solve the Rubik's cube. It was a simple enough request right? Setting his goodies down, Marcus leaned on the wall, cracking his neck. Drug in the dough or not, not like it was the worst they could do to themselves. Going to the life labs? Yeah, probably worse.

"Yes, just solve the cube. Like fast. Or something! Yeah. WIN ALL THE PRESENTS!" Marcus was pretty sure Wilson had stiff competition. Really. Nobody was really hard to beat. A tough game and gamble indeed. "You have one minute! Go go go!" He wasn't even looking at a watch. Wilson could probably take twenty minutes and Marcus would still be there, watching him expectantly.

Dis just sighed heavily in Marcus's head.

The life labs? Yeah…Wilson preferred to avoid the place.

He nodded his head obediently. While Marcus’ words appeared to be somewhat vague, he knew exactly what the moon trainee wanted. “All of the presents!” he repeated, but hesitated to begin. The first order of business would be to undo all of his previous work. As he examined his cube he frowned, but reluctantly proceeded to mix up the squares all over again. Wilson was only partially done randomizing when Marcus announced for him to go. Eyes widened. “What?! UM OKAY UHHH—“ He took a couple seconds to examine the colors before beginning to shift and slide squares. Every moment or so he paused to observe his work before continuing on. Wilson didn’t even bother to keep track of the time.

How many minutes had elapsed when he finally moved the final two squares into place? He had no freaking clue. “I DID IT. So where are my presents?” Wilson almost threw the Rubik’s cube away as he stared at Marcus expectantly. Almost.

He actually did it.
Dis sounded shocked that the death trainee had done the puzzle more so that-
I guess... he really wants presents?
He did and Marcus was going to give it to him. How long had it been. He didn't care really, he was just wanting present giving excuses. Pulling out another bag of cookies he handed it to Wilson. It... well he got cookies what else...oh! Fishing out his pocket, a tiny santa hat shaped eraser was offered. "Merry Christmas Wilson! You are Rubik's Cube champion of the day! Winner of the presents!"

So pro.

It shouldn’t have been too surprising to the weapon. Wilson had been placed in the intelligence division for a reason, though he would never admit he was ‘smart.’ Then again, maybe he really did just want the presents that badly.

His face lit up as Marcus brandished a second bag of cookies. Always cookies, never not cookies. He took the bag and responded automatically, “Merry Christmas to you too, Marcus!” He felt so incredibly special. He was a champion! And a winner too! “Are you going to go spread some more Joy?” Wilson asked, directing his gaze toward the basket of cookies and figured Marcus would say ‘yes.’ Why would he not? He started to wave him off. “Haff fun spredin joy!” he said with a mouthful of cookies.
