Faced with a long night of patrolling, energy gathering and then intense information encryption, Levi had gone to the one place that he knew would supply all of his needs: Sheetz.
Sure, he had found out that popping a few energy crystals (or ten) would give him a pretty good buzz but not only did he still have a few hesitations about eating someone else's life force, it also just didn't taste quite the same.
With that thought in mind he had strolled boldly into the store, over-sized hoodie ready to be a makeshift grocery bad and began his intense selection of crappy all-nighter foods. Candy, soda, energy drinks, chips, candy. He piled half of it into his pockets and the other half into his arms, until he was all but lost in an armful of unhealthy snacks. They almost passed his head, obscuring part of his line of vision, until he had no choice but to peer around the sides of his coma-inducing bundle.
The winding walk back down the isles was slow going and had more than one person's attention on him, though no one offered to help. Not that he wanted it, of course! But between a poorly tied shoe lace and narrow isles, he began to clip first one bag of chips.. and then a candy bar. His precariously balanced mountain of junk food began to tumble, even more so as he tried to pick it up, until at last he was squatted in the middle of an isle, trying to repack the mote of unhealthy snacks back into his arms.
The expression on his face dared anyone to try and help. He could do this on his own!

There was something rather therapeutic about walking the streets of somewhere familiar. While the city he had been staying in the past few months had become somewhat of a second home (...third, really, as the Nega Subspace was a second home at this point), it couldn't compare to Destiny City. He knew people here, and some days it seemed every nook and cranny held some sort of memory. Some good, and some....well.
Some things he just didn't want to think about.
Tonight he had chosen to leave behind the Negaverse and just relax for a bit. His work had eaten nearly all his time lately, so much that he hadn't even kept up with those still in Destiny City. He had to wonder what Zink and some of the others he hadn't managed to track down just yet were up to. But...well, it could wait another night. Tonight was all about junkf ood and energy drinks. Good old Demy was back in town!
The blonde teen had been inside, picking out his own assortment of junk food. He, however, had opted to make use of a shopping basket. With his never-ending appetite, it always proved useful. Hrm...what to pick. He had energy drinks covered with a pack of Rockstar, and had already found some candy worth trying. Perhaps this place had some of those microwave burritos? Those were always pretty good!
It was during this 'meal' planning that Demy turned down an aisle and was met with the sight of at LEAST a week's worth of junk food spewed on the floor. Whoever was doing that shopping sure had Demy's appreciation for their excellent picks! However, junk food did not belong on the -floor-. It belonged in one's stomach! The form before him clearly needed a few pointers, such as the uses of the miraculous invention called a shopping basket.
"Hey there!" A quick intro was all the warning given before Demy had boldly strolled forward, leaning to pick up a few items and stuff them onto the readily growing pile in the other's arms.
"You know, they make these things you can put all your shopping goods in, and then carry them by the handles. So you like...don't spill them all over the floor. Cause while an amazing way to see all the stuff you're buying, it doesn't seem like it's helping you check out very well, ya know?"

While annoyed that someone was stooping down and touching his things (because they were definitely his, even if he hadn't bought them yet), Levi couldn't deny that it was increasingly difficult to both hold the items and try to toss them on the pile in his arms at the same time. So he grudgingly allowed the stranger to help while gritting his teeth against the lack-of-basket comments.
Inwardly, his only retort was I didn't want a damn basket.
"Thanks," he mumbled through still-grit teeth, about to push himself back up onto his feet (carefully) when he finally glanced up at the stranger over his growing mound of junk food.
Wait.
"Demy?" His brows rose a little with his question as he was left staring face to face with his polar opposite, well, in all but food choices, it seemed. The guy was a lot bigger than Levi remembered him being, though the last time they had spent any time together was likely years before at some terrible family reunion.
He pushed himself to his feet with a death grip on his bundle of food but remained still, that curious look still plastered on his face.

For a few moments Demy had contented himself with blabbering on about shopping baskets and all their uses. There was even some mention in there of how he always wanted to compete against someone to see who could stuff the most junk food into one basket. It'd be an epic contest! Both a test of one's packing skills, but also their shopping prowess as you had to select delicious things in convenient sizes in order to get the most use out of the basket. He had all the logistics figured out and knew he could win.
Wait, the guy he had been helping suddenly uttered his name and had quite a curious look on his face. A similar curiosity lit in those vibrant green eyes as Demy turned his head to the side and really -looked- at who he had been hoping. There was even a brief moment in which he leaned forward, invading all sorts of personal space to get a better look.
Immediately after he drew back, uttering a happy "LEVI! Is that you?!" as a grin crossed his features. Man, it had been years hadn't it? What luck! This is why he loved Destiny City, everywhere he turned he met friends and family!
"Oh man, I must say I approve of your shopping tonight!" A single hand flailed in a gesture at the impressive mound of junk food before continuing. "Throwing a party or something man? Or is this a typical sort of trip for you?"
The blonde had stooped to pick his own basket back up, that grin never leaving his face. "It's totally been a while, what's been up with you?"

If Levi hadn't been entirely sure that the tall blonde in front of him was, in fact, his cousin, he would have been absolutely revolted by the bit of personal space intrusion. As it was, he grit his teeth and waited for the teen to fall back into his less-than-in-his-face distance.
"Yeahp," he answered with a half smile, genuinely pleased to see the teenager - or as much as he could around his mountain of junk food. With Demy's identity confirmed, Levi began the tedious process of walking towards the counter, slowly and carefully so that he didn't upset the mountain and send it erupting into a volcano instead.
"Nope, it's all for me, I've got a long night of.. computer work to be done." He hesitated over his lie, wondering what would sound the most believable. In the end he decided that 'computer work' could mean a lot of things and that anyone who knew him even the tiniest bit would assume he was using a fancy word for video games. For the first time in his life, that wouldn't have been true.
And yet, he still couldn't tell Demy what he was doing or, along the same train of thought, what he had been doing lately. Cousin or not, Demy might think he was a bit nuts if he admitted to being some super hero vigilante who also encrypted information in his spare time. He settled on another half-truth instead.
"Oh, you know, the usual teenage bullshit. Studying, extracurricular activities. Mom's been pretty pleased to see me out of the house." He got into line behind an older woman carrying a rather large change purse and even larger basket of items. Great.

"Computer work....riiiiight. Wouldn't happen to have any video games attached to that computer work right? Cause that sounds a whole lot more fun than just 'computer work', unless you went total workaholic on me." Here he paused to eye the mountain of junkfood a moment once more before continuing. "Seems doubtful, really."
Demy had to simply shake his head and laugh at the irony of where they ended up in line. Here his cousin stood with the most precariously perched pile of product, and the lady in front of them...well...
It was going to be a while.
"Ah...mom's, heh." Mothers were still a particularly sore subject for Demy. It was easy to forget all about his father (really, what had the man ever done for him anyway?) but he had just been getting back on good terms with his mom when those strange comas plagued the city and took away his chance for reconcilation forever. Rest in peace mom.
"I left school." Really, he shrugged that off like it was no big deal either. "Moved in with a friend who's got a real nice place. Got a job at an arcade too. It's been pretty cool."
That was hardly a fraction of the things he'd been up to lately. Having a little job at an arcade barely compared to being a General of the Negaverse! It hurt his brain sometimes to think of the astounding differences between his ordinary life and the world he had been sucked into. But, then again, the Negaverse truly had become his family, and with each passing day that life became the 'normal' and the life he lived outside of the Negaverse.....well, maybe one day it just wouldn't exist at all.
He was starting to think he wouldn't miss it too terribly much anyway.

Levi managed a smirk at the very least as his cousin called him out on what computer work normally would have meant. At least the guy hadn't forgotten him in their time apart.
"Normally? Yeah. But tonight I actually have s**t to do." He would have shrugged at the comment if he'd not caught himself at the last second - there was no need to send some of the more precariously balanced items tumbling for the sake of seeming nonchalant. "I'm.. working on something important for a client." It was a vague sentence and his hesitation seemed to imply that he didn't really want to get into the details of it.
Probably because there was no easy way to get into the details of it that wouldn't involve telling Demy all about the Negaverse. Not a can of worms he wanted to open right now.
"Dude, that's ******** awesome." Not the reaction most family members should have had about someone dropping out of school, but Levi seemed impressed with Demy's gall. "I wish I could leave school. Do you know how much s**t I could get done?" s**t that he couldn't talk about, of course. "But mom would never be down for that, you know. She rides me hard enough about it as it is."
But it was nice to think about, he wouldn't lie. He envied Demy.
He eyed the lady in front of them as the ever-patient teller began to scan all of her items, then let his eyes drift back to the blond. "What arcade do you work at? I still go to them all the time, maybe I can swing by and make an appearance."
