x x x x x █║ WHO: Sige (Aric Val) & Garrett (Chrystali) x x x x x █║ WHAT: After a long day's work, the two meet rather forwardly in a bar. x x x x x █║ WHEN: The thick of evening x x x x x █║ WHERE: The Gilded Stag Bar x x x x x █║ WEATHER: Really, really freaking cold
The man's entrance was heralded by an exhale of air sharply between pursed lips, adding emphasis to the 'brr!' that it accompanied. Of course, people were coming in and departing just as quickly, though why, he couldn't guess: the bar was warm, the thick scent of alcohol seeping into the more subtle undertone of wood, leather and less savory bodily functions that even he had more tact than to point out. Gathering the thick, double-breasted jacket more firmly around his frame, Garrett took a once-over of the bar, finding that the dim light and spotted open seats were enough of an invitation for him to stay and maybe make someone's night. With a crooked smile that gave him a bit of a boyish look to him, the raven-haired man began to weave his way through the drunken masses. Flirting was one thing, but he still wanted to partake in the liquid amber goodness to warm him from inside.
He took his time, letting his startlingly green eyes flick over faces inconspicuously as he passed; though the light was intimate at best, he was still able to discern flashes of features with a turn of head or passing threat. A rugged, bulbous jaw here, a slender, up-turned nose there, and one whose gender he could not immediately discern -- ah, the life of those that frequent bars! Smiling to himself, Garrett continued to 'peruse the goods,' as it were, letting the warmth of the distant fireplace and multitude of bodies envelope him.

The day had passed rather slowly for the copper-haired man, it was productive but productivity always led to trouble. Proof of this was a fresh cut that lined his neck, peeking out from the cloak that hung over his shoulders-- a result of a misunderstanding and one that Sige was not happy about at all. He was not fond of fighting yet with his line of work it was deathly necessary to get many jobs done.
As usual the man had retreated and given in to the lure of the bar that he had frequented many times before, the scent of the musky air and strong alcohol strangely comforting him. It was here he sought the warmth that he solely needed as well as the light-headed feeling of intoxication that he had often rewarded himself after days like these.
He rubbed the rough stubble on his chin, taking his third drink for the night but the amount still far from making him feel the least bit tipsy. With a slight nod of thanks to the barkeeper he took the warming liquid to his lips, drinking it luxuriously as a soft "Ahhh" escaped his lips, a brief and gentle smile crossing his features. Despite the loud conversations and the sweeping stares he had gotten from people, he was not one to let his eyes roam. Quietly staying towards the end of the row of tables and only happy to keep to himself. For the moment he only had eyes for the mug of liquid in front of him, recalling the events of the day with each sip that touched his lips.

In the motion and chaos of the pub, it was easy to miss out on every single person. Garrett was always impressed at how inebriated individuals could move around so much and still keep their liquor down - though, he supposed the stains on the polished wood were indication that not all were so lucky. In the din of the room and those in movement, it was the silent one in the back - the one not moving save to lift his mug - that caught his eye and prompted it to linger. Garrett had reached the bar by then, coins gently palmed against the soft leather of his gloves. When the bartender came to him, he didn't do so much as glance over, his interest intensifying with each passing moment. "House special and -- " he indicated the silent man with a lift of his chin, " -- whatever he's having, get him another." Pressing the coins on the bar, he sauntered away from the central focus of the bar and instead to the focus of his attention.
He didn't speak immediately, though his cheshire smile did quite a bit of talking for him as he folded his fingers around the slender back of the wooden chair next to the copper-haired man. "Good evening," he greeted the man with a more friendly curve of his lips, his eyes echoing the sentiment, "might I join you?" And then, the test to see if he was barking up the wrong tree. "It seems absolutely criminal for a handsome man like yourself to be alone on such a cold night." Settling his weight onto one leg, he allowed himself to be seen so as to not be thought of as a threat or heckler: his rich green jacket spoke of modest money, the cream trousers he wore well tended but still dusty around the knee-high boots, speaking of a man who at least worked his way and wasn't stuffy nobility. The blade at his side only affirmed what it was he might have worked at, though sheathed as it was, he posed little threat other than his intent to sweet-talk other man.

Though his eyes rarely left his mug, he was not ignorant of his surroundings, noticing a few whispers and giddy laughs from patrons that were directed towards a specific person. He lifted his blue-green eyes when another mug was offered to him, earning a puzzled gaze from the man. "I didn't order one yet--" he started, but the words died in his throat as he was approached by another, lips parted as he blinked in honest surprise at the question. "If you want to." said simply, eyes looking up and down the others form as he 'presented' himself so openly in his stance. Though this behavior was not very common for Sige-- to so bluntly express interest in his eyes-- he could not blame himself either. Because this stranger was definitely more than just handsome. "Good evening to you too," --and that was the last 'relaxed' phrase he could say as his eyes darted open, choking on some of the alcohol in his throat as he coughed quietly in surprise.
"Forgive me. You aretalking to me, am I right?" said with a hint of joking even though surprise still dominated his features. Sige straightened in his seat, taking a hand to smoothen his own worn jacket, eyes darting to his mug and back to the man's bright green eyes. "What's criminal are the looks people are giving me now--for talking to you." and then his eyes finally take a look around the bar, catching a few stares of other hopeful customers staring at this strange but very charming--raven haired man.

"I do," he affirmed and, pleased to have the permission to sit, he pulled the chair back with only a slight dragging sound and took his seat. Garrett's expression went from pleasantly suggestive to alarmed in a moment's time, reaching over to gently thump the copper-haired male on the back to clear the alcohol. The man's response to him drew a blank, if not surprised look from him before he began to laugh, keeping his hand on the man's broad back. "You are the only one I'm seeing right now, yes," he responded with good-humored intent, arching his dark brows with amusement. "And what people? My attention is given to one at a time, good sir, and I'd not waste my time to look anywhere else." His eyes traced slowly over the other's defined features, quite smitten with the scar he saw so plainly on the other's nose.
It was in his admiration that the spot of red finally caught his attention, prompting his usual jovial demeanor to fade in the slightest. Lifting his hand from the other's back, he peeled off his glove and gently hooked his thumb against the man's collar, moving it just enough to get a better look at the cut there. "Are you well?" he asked quietly, quite possibly as serious as he knew how to be. "That looks uncomfortable." Garrett's next words were swallowed - it was not yet time for him to offer what he desired of the stoic man - instead very lightly brushing his fingertips against the warm, pale skin of the man's neck. He making sure the object of his attention was well enough for any activity he might propose, though he had yet to determine if there was interest or if his companion was just being polite.
His mug was then set down, earning a quick turn of head and polite smile before his attention once more settled on the other man's features. Lifting his free hand, he indicated the extra mug that had been brought with his arrival. "It's on me, sir - and I am one Garrett Wiese. Might I know the name of my charming company?"

Even with the confirmation it still took him some time to take in the attention the other was imparting to him so--generously as Sige would put it. "You're a handsome man. You must know the attention that you attract from--many alike." said bluntly, lifting his light-coloured eyes to rest on the other's captivating ones. By habit he took a hand to rub his chin, expression softening just a little bit although he was still quite suspicious of this man's intent. It was not that the other appeared threatening to him but it was just rare that a man like he would speak to him such a way.
He took note of the long thin scar that lined the man's face and how it tracedthe gentle curve of his lips--the man was rather carried away. "Ah--oh, that's nothing," he answers, pulled back to reality when the dark-haired man touched his skin, shaking his head. "Just some little accidents in my line of work--unfortunate but I assure you-- not even close to being the least bit uncomfortable." The draw of fingers to his skin earned an audible gulp from the other, liking the gentle roam of fingers against his lighter skin.
"Garrett Wiese, pleasure. The name's Sige." said with a nod of the head, giving the other a small smile when he realized the other was responsible in charge of giving him that extra drink. "I appreciate it very much. Been a long day."

Ah, and there was the affirmation he was seeking. Garrett's eyes fell into a satisfied crescent-moon of bright green, his smile just shy of being smug. "I don't assume to know the fancies of others, but I am flattered when such is expressed, especially from one so striking to have caught this humble man's attention from across the room." And unfortunately for Sige, the black-haired man was now content to lavish his silver-tongue on him without fear or hesitation. The enunciation on the words as his fingers touched the man's neck didn't help matters, earning a show of teeth from Garrett's lop-sided grin. "That is a relief, Sige," he purred the man's name, liking the sound of it, "to know you are well. I'm not against starting something with a little game of doctor but I'm not much one for preamble."
Crossing his legs at the knees, he withdrew his hand from the other and finally lifted his mug to take a generous sip, finding the blend to be a bit acrid but the after taste more than made up for it. He supposed in that sense, his taste was a little more suited for hard goods. "Mm, I'm terribly sorry to hear that," he finally continued to speak, licking his split lips, "that your day was so long. Do you often come here then, to take the edge off?" Pausing, Garrett tilted his head to the side, his smile far less jovial and far more suggestive as he posed his next question. "Do you have any other means of relaxing during the night?"

"But I am far from being the one striking here," said with the same surprised shy confusion on his features but trying to keep his expression still. The man had now caught the attention of his gaze completely, the comforting liquid in his mug not so appetizing at the moment, the man shifting in his seat for thoughts of something more satisfying. 'I.. well. Thank you for your concern." Merely said in reply to that statement, knitting his brows slightly not in being uncomfortable but for the undertones that he very much felt in what Garrett had said.
He copied the other mans actions and took not one--but three large gulps of his drink, breathing out audibly as he set it down loudly on the counter. Sige then looked back to the man beside him, hands grasping the mug tighter with each word that came out of the other's lips, taking a long moment of silence before he could reply properly. "Well, Garrett," he started carefully, at war with himself as he attempted to avoid blunt flirting, only meeting this albeit handsome and charming man for the first time in his life. "The long days-- bring about pleasant nights when I'm lucky--" the tone in the man's voice was so luring, blinking his eyes rapidly in puzzlement, honestly asking the same question in his head, Really? Is he thinking what I am thinking?, "For every man, there are--- many various ways to relax." He replied rather unclearly, shifting even more into his seat.

"Tsk! I think I'm allowed to give you the compliments you so freely give to me, Sige!" He was teasing, looking mock-offended. "And above that, by the Old Ways, I do declare you to be striking. A handsome man, with strong, clean features and -- your eyes, they are quite captivating." Garrett rarely resorted to physical flattery but there was an honesty in him, finding the unwilling object of his affection to be one of the more handsome men he'd laid eyes on. An honest worker, he could tell by his attire and hands, hardened from life obviously by his scar and 'line of work' and atop all of that - Sige was straight-forward, if not a little clumsy in his words, but truthful. To say that he was smitten in that moment was rather correct.
Garrett could not stop the way his dark brow lifted over his green gaze, his cheshire grin in place. His copper-haired companion wasn't giving him a yes...but he was certainly not giving him a no just yet. "How lucky are you feeling tonight, Sige?" Unabashed and without a shred of tact, he leaned over so that their arms touched, lamenting in the fact their limbs were then covered. "There are rooms upstairs for those who pay for board, as not everyone can afford the more posh means," he started off as innocently as a man with a predatory grin could, "and I'd be very happy if you'd accompany me for the night - or few hours, if you'd still wish to visit with your liquor." Resting his chin and cheek against the palm of his yet-gloved hand, he gave Sige an attentive, if not intense look, subconsciously biting at the inside of his lip where the bottom portion split.

"I believe you give me too much credit, kind sir." he replied with a tease though still having that shy demeanor with the compliments showered upon him. It was a strange feeling to him, and having a gorgeous man like the other saying these things humbled him. What he got from Garrett was that he was a strong personality, charming, daring and--forward yet had a certain air about him that even the disciplined man could not resist. Each subtle touch of skin--covered and uncovered made him inch closer just a little bit. Yet despite these thoughts the man was far from having a silver-tongue like the other, admiring with an honest stare instead of speaking.
"Lucky? Quite lucky since..." he started off quite innocently at first but the continual touches on him made him shut his mouth. Lips parted in awe as the other obviously suggested what he had wanted himself but did not dare to even think. "Garrett--- you're--" Garrett was a man who could get anyone in the bar--- that he knew even after the few minutes that he had spoken to him. With how he carried himself and how likable and handsome he was with that twinkle in his bright green eyes as he talked-- he simply could get anyone.
"You're gorgeous. And lovely to speak to, really--" he sucked in a deep breath of air and took a long pause to drink much of the content of the mug in his grasp before settling it down quietly back into the table. "Forgive me," he lifted his light eyes towards the other's with a rather pained expression on his face. To not give in to his raw desires, to be cautious with everyone--were rules he had set so early on himself. It was just how he lived. "I just met you moments ago, and though you have been such wonderful company, I am afraid I have to decline."
And just like that his heart lurched, prompting to make him take another gulp of the liquid. He wouldn't blame Garrett if he left then and there, knowing that he wouldn't have another chance with the other anyway.

Sige's stumbling and the look he gave Garrett warmed the man to his toes. He reserved reacting until he had the whole of Sige's rejection -- and unfortunately for the copper-haired merchant, it wasn't enough of a 'no' to deter him. Before Sige could take a drink of the booze after the denial, Garrett lifted his head and plucked off his remaining glove, extending his hand so that his fingers caught the other's chin. Gently, insistingly, he turned Sige's face to look at him, fingers gliding over his cheek until he had the other man's jaw cupped against his palm.
"Sige, while it's absolutely a joy to flatter you, I take your flattery to heart - especially given that I've a rather obvious glaring flaw. My intent here is clear, so that you are still kind enough to speak fondly says a lot about you." Stroking his thumb over the pale cheekbone, he smiles confidently to his companion. "If all that's holding you back is time, I am the proud bearer of news to inform you that I can give you time. I'm a very patient man, especially when the subject of my attraction has such a honest disposition as you." And then his smile grew into a grin, toothy and teasing. "I'm afraid I'm not very good company, however - I tend to have a one-track mind and all the trouble that follows it." Withdrawing his hand, fingers brushing along the stubbled chin, he lightly folded his gloves and put them aside, lifting his mug to sip as if he hadn't just propositioned the man.
"Admittedly, it's disappointing the night will continue to be cold, but in the light of your company - should you wish to continue to share it with me, Sige - I am satisfied."

He was quite ready for the man to leave, the warmth around him would be missed but the man knew it was of his own fault. It took him a while to realize that the other was still looking at him, and the fingers that touched his stubbled chin were a surprise but a very welcome one, letting himself be guided to look at the other. A puzzled look was given to Garrett with the action, the light-skinned man listening intently to what was being said, the words of echoed rejection that he thought that were supposed to be said to him were not present in Garrett's sincere and kind words.
Raising a brow in disbelief when he is let go, he could scarcely believe what had just happened. "You would still want to be in my company?" he shook his head, putting a hand to his face for a moment to let out a chuckle of disbelief. Finding, in fact, this was one of his luckiest nights indeed though nothing had passed between the two. "I'm afraid to admit once again---the flaw you spoke that you have--I am blind to it for I cannot find anything wrong with you. Despite all you say that is seemingly wrong-- there really is nothing at all. Nothing." He took another sip of his drink, eyes not leaving Garrett's. And then he put a hand on the man's arm in turn, shaking his head. "You needn't question it. I am glad for your company--though it may be of the different kind--I am very thankful."

Ah, but he was enchanted with the copper-haired merchant; the way Sige's thoughts and emotions played out over his stoic features was absolutely mesmerizing to the mercenary. "I absolutely want to be in your company! Goodness Sige, no one else has joined us since I first tried to seduce you, keep up now!" Teasing and chiding the man lightly, he leaned back in his chair, crossing his legs at his ankles and fixing the other man with a winning smile. "You're a rare type to meet at all, my friend, let alone one who takes my lecherous coming-on's as something worthwhile. I'm intrigued, and I'd see to it that I can count your face as one I see more of."
Cocking his head to the side slowly at the compliment that stretched, Garrett could only smile at Sige, his expression not quite as teasing as it had been before. Instead, there was a sort of bewildered confusion there, one yet partially hidden by his perpetual smile but lingering in his eyes. He wasn't sure why Sige would insinuate that there was nothing wrong with him, when that something was the length of his face and more beneath the clothes on his body. It seemed his companion had hit on the one mild insecurity he had, but he was quick to brush it aside as Sige initiated another touch. Putting the mug down, he rested his hand over the man's, giving it a light squeeze. "Very different. Patient I am but I've never quite met with rejection that was so kind and considerate." Garrett laughed, a soft, bemused sound. "And I am thankful for yours, Sige. An open ear and open mind is rare."
Releasing the man, he lifted his hand to indicate the bartender should bring them more drinks before lifting his own again. With his attention wholly upon Sige, he offered a smile that was still jovial but friendly in part. "So, handsome Sige, slayer of night hours and purveyor of luck. What is this job that you do, hm? Tell me about yourself, if you please."

The man gave another shy smile at the other with his words, the light-humour Garrett had when he spoke made him feel comfortable, which was something that was difficult for him to feel with first meetings. Again he shook his head in determined disbelief, taking his other hand to brush through his dark unkempt hair in pause to settle through his thoughts. "Garrett. I hope you do not think that I disliked it in any way," and then he takes another sip from his drink, "--not lecherous. Only charming."
It was true that he saw no wrong in this man that he had met, the scar that the other was insecure of--he thought it was beautiful how it followed each curve of his face so elegantly and touched on his tempting lips. "And I---" he finally could speak properly again after staring so bluntly at Garrett's face, "I have not met anyone like you, that is for sure." And he meant that in the most endearing way possible, the edge of his lips shyly moving upwards as he continued to listen to his words. "Mr. Wiese. You flatter me too much and miss how lovely company you are-- perhaps that is your flaw. That you give yourself too little credit." It was evident to himself that he did enjoy this man's company, stranger or not, it was--a nice feeling to be talking with someone with such a light-hearted personality such as Garrett's. It intrigued him.
His eyes lit up at more drinks, bowing his head in thanks to the other as he sipped more of his own/ "I---am a merchant. Of various wares. I like finding valuable things." he said simply, turning to cast his eyes on the weapon that he had spotted against Garrett. "And you? Lots of action in your work, I would think."

And he laughed again, finding Sige's stubborn refusal of his words to be charming, if not a little naive. "The only charm I was using was to lure you somewhere private. You give me far too much credit." Garrett didn't seem to mind the staring - returning the eyes that traced his features with a placid gaze of his own, admiring the oceanic green of Sige's stare. His free hand idly traced the worn wood of the table, eyes lidded and watching the merchant speak with open intrigue. "Mister--heavens above, my father is Mr. Wiese, not I. Please, just Garrett or any other adorable nickname you can think of." Grinning to insinuate he was just teasing, he shook his head with a soft chuckle.
"Finding valuable things, you say?" he repeated, mulling the information over with interest. "How fortunate we didn't cross paths before this meeting, then. My line of work is mostly in defending those that are incapable of doing so themselves on these roads," he lowered his hand briefly to pat the pommel at his hip, "or to protect those with the most coin that a little scare-tactics seem to draw. We'd be a dangerous force to be reckoned with if you were half as indecent as I." Garrett smiled privately; he wasn't the most altruistic man, but he also didn't believe that coin bought his loyalty, just his services. And if he could use the gold to have others put on a small threat on the road and put on a song and dance to frighten the hand that dipped into the gold pouch, well...he was not above such things.
Curious piqued, however, his mind wandering briefly towards the forest he'd spent the better part of two days traversing and the totem that was still snug on his person. Not that he'd sell the thing, but its value was something he was interested in - or perhaps, its meaning could be more invaluable. "I've been busy as of late, however," he continued, still feeling the bark of the tree on his palms as though it were yesterday, "so business is slow. I like to wander and pick up handsome merchants when that happens." One green eye quickly dipped into a playful wink before his brilliant smile returned.
