The roar of the crowd vibrated through the ground and up through the soles of each troll, as they stood and sat around the ring of the arena. Here and there, trolls weighed down with snack dispersion units staggered down the aisles, but even they stopped and craned their heads towards the arena as the two gates on either side of the pit opened.

Sitting high up in her royal box, Regina flourished a microphone, then, taking a deep breath, leaned over and bellowed into it.

"Laydeeees ayynnnnd gentletroooolls! Ooon the right, the gunslinging greenblood with her sights set on victory, from New Hemisect City, it's Pyyyyruet Tropos! Aaaaand on the left, also hailing from from New Hemisect, let's hope she can keep her glasses on, iiiiiiiiiit's Mutuna Essoan!"

Trolls who are watching the battle can post in this thread. While battles are posted ooc all at the same time, ic battles are one after the other. If your troll is in another battle, they can still post as a spectator.

Pyruet shifted slightly as she eyed the orangeblood opposite her. The girl certainly carried a big stick, but she rather looked like the soft-speaking type, not exactly cut out for combat.

But that didn't matter. Mutuna had signed herself up, and in doing so, forfeited any right she had to not being beaten to a pulp, and also maybe shot up. She knew the risks of joining a tournament based around combat before she'd agreed, so pulling any punches was as unacceptable as it was disrespectful.

Pyre gave an almost annoyed sigh as she unholstered the revolver on her chest. "These are very real bullets, designed for making fist-sized holes in flesh." She quickly fired at the ground in front of Mutuna, a small chunk of concrete exploding on impact, the concrete dust and fragments being kicked up at the troll's feet. "I would think that using them would be frowned upon, considering the rule about maiming, but if I feel as though I'm in serious danger, I absolutely will not hesitate to drop you. If that makes you uncomfortable, resign immediately." Warning complete, Pyre re-holstered the gun containing hollow points with her right hand, and drew one of the rubber bullet-loaded ones with her left, firing a round directly at Mutuna.

Mutuna frowned over at Pyruet. It was clear that, given how the greenblood spoke to her, that she underestimated her. That wasn't really a surprise. Most trolls of higher blood than her had a tendency to do that. She was, after all, only an orangeblood. Not only that, but she was an orangeblood that didn't really look like she belonged in a battle arena too much. She was too quiet, too calm, and most certainly didn't look like she had any fighting spirit in her.

"I'm not uncomfortable at all," Mutuna said as she held her kaiser blade in hand. The gun that Pyruet wielded definitely had some power to it. All the orangeblood could do was watch with curiosity as the real bullet made a hole in front of her. Getting hit with one of those wouldn't be nice at all. It'd be a brutal, painful hit.

But luckily, she wasn't hit with one of those bullets. She was hit with a rubber-loaded one when the greenblood shot at her. The bullet hit directly in the troll's shoulder, which made Mutuna gasp out in shock and slight pain. She hadn't expected to be shot so early on in the battle, but what could she do? Determined not to let Pyruet have the upperhand, the orangeblood started to run at the other female troll while brandishing her weapon. Yet, unfortunately, the swing Mutuna made wasn't a success. She managed to trip on her way over to the greenblood, only to fall on the ground in front of her. Damn un-coordination! Now was not the time to get in the way!

Pyruet gave a brief nod to her opponent at the troll's declaration. It was nice to see someone so at ease with their own mortality, but whether that confidence was bravery or foolishness was yet to be determined. It didn't much matter either way though, the brave and the foolish went down very similarly.

An eyebrow raised as Mutuna more or less shrugged off the rubber bullet to the arm and started charging. Pyre shoved the revolver back into its holster as she crouched slightly, bracing herself, readying herself to counter to blow that...wouldn't be coming, at least not yet.

The greenblood stared down at Mutuna with enough scorn to make a musclebeast flinch, disgust obvious in every feature of her face. She briskly strode over to the fallen troll, grabbed her by the front of her shirt, and yanked her onto her feet with one hand. She pulled back with her free hand, and slugged Munna in the stomach--not as hard as she could have, she felt some trace of platonic pity for the girl, but plenty hard enough to hurt. "If this is legitimately all you can do, you're not suited to fight me." she hissed into her foe's ear, still maintaining a firm grip on the collar of her shirt. "Either step up, or quit while you still have some trace of dignity left." She shoved Mutuna backwards as she stepped back herself, quickly getting out of the sling blade's range before the decision to get within striking distance proved to be a poor one.

Pyruet's disgust for Mutuna was so thick that one could almost taste it in the air. Clearly, she was unimpressed with the orangeblood, and rightfully so. Tripping like that in the middle of the battle arena was not a smooth move at all. It was one of those off days, obviously, and Munna was mentally grumbling for it. Why, of all days, did this day have to be the bad one? There were other times it could have happened, but no! Gog decided to laugh at her this afternoon.

The punch to the stomach knocked the wind out of her. Shaken after the blow, the bespectacled troll found herself stumbling backward after being pushed away by Pyruet. She certainly wasn't going easy on her, that was for sure. She'd have more than her fair share of bruises and scars after this battle was done. "...I'm not....out yet.." Mutuna found herself wheezing after she stumbled backward. As the greenblood got herself out of the way of the orangeblood, Mutuna took this moment to catch her breath. The blow to the stomach hurt, yes, but she wasn't out of the fight yet.

Kaiser blade in hand, Mutuna began running at Pyruet once again. She made a move as if to slash at the girl with her blade, but once she was close enough, she dropped to the ground and swung her leg around instead. This was so to knock Pyruet off her balance, and when she was able, the orangeblood swept the other troll's legs out from under her. This would teach her for underestimating her.

Pyre glared at Mutuna as the latter all but panted, trying to catch her breath. The orangeblood was outmatched, that much was obvious, but still she was fighting. She wasn't brave or foolish, she was just prideless. She was going to see it to the end if it killed her--which it damned well might, at this rate--and that was both infuriating, and somewhat respectable.

Mutuna once again charged, kaiser blade held high, and once again, Pyre braced herself for the strike that, once again, would not arrive. "Mother <********> Pyre hit the ground hard, landing on her spinal crevice as her legs were kicked out from under her. She froze for a moment as a jolt of pain shot through her, though it was almost instantly replaced by anger. Fine, if Mutuna preferred lying around kicking at each other to halfway-dignified combat, Pyre could do that. She snarled as she shifted her weight onto her arms, and shoved down, lifting her lower body off the ground. She spun her torso away from Mutuna, pulling back, before whirling towards her as quickly and forcefully as she could manage, slamming her heel into her opponent's cheek.

At the opposite end of the arena from the royal box, a imperial drone sat with a small file, defying the mood of the arena by sitting calmly and fixing his nails. It was easy to overlook him, as he was dwarfed by a huge elaborately crafted gong that hung to his left. As the two trolls kicked at each other on the ground, he tucked the file into his pocket and glanced down at a small clock resting on the ground in front of him. Standing up stiffly, he hefted a large and highly ornamental hammer, and swung it hard at the gong. The sound echoed around the arena, managing to surpass and even silence the noise of the crowd. Time was up.

Final standings:
Mutuna: 7/20
Pyruet: 18/20

Pyruet moves to the next round!
